My Thoughts on Kuuga Part 3: The Grongi

I just thought that the Grongi are nightmare fuel at best.  Like the Gorgom they are an ancient civilization but they are no cult that controls humans.  What they do is that the HUNT down humans and disguise themselves as humans, treating humans like trash and killing them for a game they call "Gegeru".  Compared to previous Sentai enemies, they don't focus on ridiculous schemes to take over like a goat cult or the use of the Devil's sonata sort of stuff.  Now for the Grongi...

Daguva- The mysterious leader of the Grongi.  He's in fact the most cruel character and pretty sick, bloodthirsty to the point he even kills the inferior Grongi as he believes in the survival of the fittest.  What makes him scary is that he's not always there, so nobody is aware of his activities and the suspense around this guy just gets darker and darker.

Baruba- Although she may seem to be the big bad of the show, she is in reality the underling of Daguva.  SO far the only Grongi with good looks and not to reveal a monster form.  She developed a rivalry with Detective Kaoru Ichijou when he first shot her.  Compared to most Kamen Rider villains, she was killed by a regular human civilian with six special nerve-wrecking bullets rather than face the hero of the story.  Still, her story was well-written and her death was pretty karmic.

Dorudo- His role is to count the number of deaths in the continuous game of Gegeru until he was inevitably out of purpose when Detective Ichijou shot his abacus with a tracking bullet.  He was forced to revert back to his monster form and fight against Gadoru.  Like Baruba, he was killed by police officers.  He was shot by nerve-breaking bullets by Sugita and Sakurai.

Gooma- He woudl bring us nostalgia of Kamen Rider Black's Bat Mutant but he had a more tragic role.  He tried to become more powerful than the rest but was bloodily killed by Daguva.  It was in fact pretty foolish for him to try and fight Daguva his master.

The monsters of the week for me were pretty much on the suspense side, each with their bloody killing game and all.  They had monster forms and human forms, which added to the suspense since it was very difficult for the public to know they were attacked by a monster.  Each of them had their own creative way of causing murders, one murder after the other just gets more lethal and suspenseful as the series progressed.
