The Mishima Bloodline in Tekken

If there was anything in Tekken that intrigued me, it was the dysfunctional behavior of the Mishima bloodline. How? Let's start what we've learned per Tekken game shall we?

In Tekken 1- it was revealed that Kazuya Mishima had an asshole of a father namely Heihachi Mishima. Well no father in the right mind would toss his son off the cliff to see if that son is worthy of succeeding. Of course, this was never without consequences as during that time, Heihachi was submitted to the curse of the Devil gene in the family, which created Devil Kazuya, the final boss of Tekken 2.

In Tekken 2, the effects of the Devil gene showed up. Heihachi Mishima may be a carrier himself, seeing how he survived the fall which Kazuya Mishima gave to him. Kazuya Mishima as he controlled the Mishima Zaibatsu did even worse. Also, he despicably raped Jun Kazama in Tekken 2, which eventually gave birth to Jin Kazama since he never married her. Heihachi Mishima continues the bitter cycle of vengeance, which Kazuya Mishima was thrown into a volcano. This released the Devil power which soon took over Jin Kazama.

Tekken 3 had some hints of Devil gene with Heihachi Mishima after Jin Kazama grew up to join the third tournament, to battle Ogre. That is after Ogre gets defeated, Ogre somewhat gets some energy from Heihachi Mishima, which causes Ogre to turn into True Ogre. After the defeat of True Ogre at the Aztec Pyramid, Jin Kazama is revealed to have the Devil gene too, which his grandfather Heihachi Mishima attempted to kill him.

In Tekken 4, Kazuya Mishima returned to take vengeance. He was back and which Jin Kazama was planning to spell the end of their bloodline- kill both Kazuya Mishima and Heihachi Mishima to end the curse but because of the vision of his late mother Jun Kazama, he spared them both. It was also in that time that Jin Kazama's Devil gene manifested.

In Tekken 5, a different effect of the cursed blood took place when Jinpachi Mishima who is already more than a hundred years old, the original founder of the Zaibatsu escaped. It was revealed that he died by patricide as he was killed by Heihachi Mishima but the Devil gene reanimated him. In contrast to Heihachi Mishima, Jinpachi Mishima prior to the curse was a really nice person. However he was soon controlled by the curse and which his great-grandson Jin Kazama defeated him. Unfortunately the Devil gene didn't end yet- Jin Kazama took the remaining Devil gene for Tekken 6.

In Tekken 6: Bloodline Rebellion, the revelation of Kazuya Mishima's half-brother Lars Alexanderson came. So far, he was the only one aside from his father Heihachi Mishima who hasn't revealed a Devil form yet. It was also revealed that the curse was caused by a being known as Azazel, who was released during the clash of Jin Kazama and Kazuya Mishima, both at their most cursed.
