It's just plain and simple- regret is at the end. So far, it could be something if Jin would try to reconcile his father and grandfather with him, yet he is also tempted to kill them to end the curse. However the Devil gene had only affected Jinpachi, Kazuya and Jin while it didn't affect Heihachi and his estranged illegitimate son Lars who he bore from some unknown woman. The creation of this curse was most likely started by Heihachi's betrayal of his father Jinpachi, his throwing of Kazuya down the cliff and with all that, an ancient curse went into Kazuya and later, raised Jinpachi. The premise of hatred and bitterness literally plagued up to four generations- Jinpachi, Heihachi, Kazuya and Lars then for the fourth generation, Jin. Each one after the other just had that hatred for each other, except for the fact that Lars and Jin worked together.
In Tekken 2, the start of the Devil surfacing was with Kazuya. After he beat his father, he became a monster worse than his dad causing the Mishima Zaibatsu to enter into bigger amounts of corruption. Of course, Heihachi's survival may suggest he has the Devil gene but can't go Devil, which still needs to be tackled on. The hatred between father and son was always wronged with another wrong. After Kazuya threw Heihachi off the cliff, Heihachi threw Kazuya into the volcano.
In Tekken 3, Jin came to surface. While he was supposedly befriended by his grandfather, however Jin for some reason manifested the Devil gene which caused Heihachi to go nuts. Another possibility is that Heihachi had the Devil gene but lost it to Ogre. Ogre absorbed Heihachi's DNA to become "True Ogre". Jin defeated True Ogre and won the third tournament.
In Tekken 4, Kazuya was brought back to life or he survived via the Devil Gene. In this chapter, it's revealed that Kazuya and Jin both have the both the power Heihachi needs to become powerful yet it could not react with Heihachi. Of course, the lineage was revealed to activate such power. Kazuya sees the other half of the Devil gene is in Jin, but Jin's Kazama blood seems to repress it. In the end, one cannot fully determine the extent of the Kazama blood's power.
In Tekken 5, it also brought back Jinpachi Mishima who was supposedly dead after he was overthrown by his own son. Later it affected Jin in Tekken 6, which led to Jin going berserk and finally throwing the world into chaos. Of course, it become Azazel to who Jin defeated in hopes of ending the curse forever.
