What I Wished MK11 Did With Shinnok

MK11 is a hype though I thought of one seriously mistreated character -- SHINNOK! I always thought Netherrealm apparently does have an extreme favoritism for Shao Kahn. Why do you think they decided to retcon the idea of him being killed by the Deadly Alliance -- back when it was still Midway before it got bankrupt and bought by Warner Bros.? Why do you think Shinnok was treated as such a wuss in MK4 and MK Gold? I don't think they really cared about him. TBH, I think Wuxia series have more respect for his source material Tong Tian Jiao Zhu (Heavenly Grandmaster) -- though the Eight Immortals (1998) TV series had him betrayed by his right hand man Pan Golin.

So what's my thoughts on MK11 and Shinnok himself? Turns out that he's Kronika's son and Cetrion's brother -- which may make Kronika also the mother of the Jade Emperor and Tai Shang Lao Jun (Grand Supreme Elderly Lord) in the process. Kronika does have the ability to restore anything so why didn't she decide to well give Shinnok his body back? It could have been interesting if Shinnok reappeared with his full body intact to participate in Kronika's grand scheme to restart the whole Mortal Kombat timeline.

The idea of bringing Shao Kahn back (well colliding the past and present) is pretty much Netherrealm's way of telling us, "Screw Shinnok! We can revive Shao Kahn!" It's almost like the way Marvel deals with Loki and Thanos. Thanos gets the most badass defeats at the hands of many heroes. Loki gets a rather WTF scene of Hulk beating him and never gets any more epic. Cassie defeating Shinnok isn't any less WTF than Hulk defeating Loki IMHO. Shinnok is supposedly a fallen Elder God who overthrew Yan Wang the ruler of the Netherrealm (no, he's not a bad guy since all people report to him for judgment) and escaped his confines just got beaten like that?

What I thought could've been done was to have Shinnok participate in the shenanigans of his mother Kronika -- maybe even try to defeat both Johnny and Cassie for humiliating him twice or be the reason why Sonya dies later in life. Why not make him kill Sonya to get even with Cassie and Johnny? He could actually be leading the remaining Revenants or even lead the Netherrealm Army after Kronika restores him. I don't like the idea of him becoming a living head in the Bone Temple. He needed more development. Maybe, have Raiden deal with him one more time later in the story mode. Maybe, we can have a scene where Raiden settles his Thor/Loki like feud with Shinnok once and for all -- since I felt Raiden should be the one and NOT anyone who should end their ancient rivalry.
