While The Lion King isn't exactly a copy of Jungle Emperor Leo (and we know, inspiration begets inspiration) -- you can't deny that both shows are well-loved franchises that defy logic in several levels. I can't decide which is weirder between The Lion King and Jungle Emperor Leo with that logic defiance. Both of them have plenty of WTF logic considering that you've got talking animals who act and feel like human beings. I can't even decide which is dumber between Simba eating bugs and Kimba trying to become a herbivore. There are many similar characters in both well-loved franchises -- yet there are differences too. Kimba is trying to act grown-up for a lion cub while Simba is your typical child who matures into a great king. Scar is Simba's uncle while Claw isn't related to Leo or better known as Kimba in the west.
What's so weird about both shows? The lion is the king of the jungle. In real life, the lion eats other animals. Remember the whole beginning where a newly-born Simba is presented to the animals? The herbivores are all BOWING to the lion. There's a song called "The Circle of Life". I always get chills whenever Simba asks, "But dad, don't we eat the antelope?" then Mufasa mentions that when they die -- they become the grass and the antelope eat the grass. Mufasa is giving a biology lesson. At the same time, it just still gets weirder to why the animals designed to be the prey of the lion bow down to the newborn king. I even think that the kingdom must have been rejoicing when Mufasa died, suffered, even more, when Scar destroyed the balance, and there still is so much suffering when Simba restored the balance. Just think the antelope, the zebras, and other animals are FOOD.
Maybe, I could talk about the relationship between Simba with Timon and Pumba. It's just that funny if you think about how Timon raised valid concerns about Simba being a lion. It should be very funny that Nala nearly ate them but they would later stand by him? Nala is a lion and it's only natural she would hunt both Timon and Pumba. If Simba came back to his senses -- wouldn't eating Timon and Pumba be the next logical thing for him to do? After all, he's a lion!
Then maybe one can consider Kimba too is also full of weird stuff. Remember that episode when Kimba wants to create a jungle of peace. A human helped Kimba helped early on. Then you have Kimba trying to turn carnivores into herbivores. This wouldn't work in real life as they are designed to be meat-eaters. But what do you expect from a series where animals have human-like intelligence? Doesn't that defy biology too? Kimba has been defying biology by simply talking and having human-like intelligence. It doesn't matter anymore if the show has plenty of illogical stuff because Kimba's existence in itself isn't even logical. Yet, he became a hit and beloved character!

As said, defy logic, suspend your disbelief and enjoy these franchises. After all, they are just fiction.
