Did Akira Toriyama Get Inspiration From The Days Of Future Past (DOFP) Storyline From Marvel?

In January 1981, the X-Men franchise featured the alternate reality daughter of Cyclops and Jean Grey known as Rachel Summers. The word of Rachel was practically devastated by Sentinels and it's a world caused by what if former villain Senator Kelly was assassinated. The setting in itself is very dark and dystopian. Later on, a few years later, Toei Ltd's Akira Torimaya may have read some Marvel Comics, probably decided to make his own version of Cable with Future Trunks, and mix the Days Of Future Past storyline into Cable with Future Trunks!

A look at Future Trunks' timeline shows how humanity managed to succumb to a mechanical menace. The Androids practically rule the future and destroy it for fun. Future Trunks tries to go to a time machine to undo the future - pretty similar to Cable except nobody serves as the role of Mother Askani. Future Trunks goes into the present timeline, meets his alternate reality father (like how Rachel meets Cyclops), and discusses how his dystopian world is practically like that. Future Trunks also brings in some cure in hopes of preventing Goku's premature death. Hmmm... so did Goku's death trigger Future Trunks' timeline such as Senator Kelly's supposed assassination did in X-Men

It would be interesting to know that the Cell Saga started on February 16, 1992. The X-Men cartoon series by Haim Saban occurred in October 1992 which would be after. It seems that the circle of influence is there. Toriyama decided to copy the scenario and modify it for Dragon Ball Z. Later, Saban's staff would at least put a few episodes where the DOFP storyline happened. It also seems that the cartoon version of Cable was blatantly modified from Future Trunks. Cartoon Cable wasn't born in the regular timeline but is a time-traveling guy who is hinted to be the child of Cyclops and Jean Grey instead of Cyclops and Madelyne Pryor. Like Future Trunks, Cable in the cartoon is someone devoted to saving his timeline by destroying the menace in the past. The circle of ideas just seems to be there! Saban did dub Dragon Ball Z for some time. Before Saban had a license with Toei and Marvel - Toei once had a license with Marvel too. Did they really all send ideas to each other?

The X-Men cartoon probably copied plots from Dragon Ball Z too. Fair enough, Dragon Ball Z did copy plots from the X-Men comics. Cyclops and Jean Grey end up as Vegeta and Bulma in a way. In the "Time Fugitives" arc - the second part had Jean Grey probe Cable's mind and find out that she and Scott are his parents! Cable also seeks to cure a deadly virus and stop it from destroying the world. Future Trunks had that mission to stop Goku from dying from heart disease. Cyclops seems to have some disagreement with Cable the same way Vegeta does with Future Trunks too. The nod seems to be there in some way. It looks like the cycle really came to full circle - Toriyama copies from Marvel, Saban got a Marvel license for some time, and Saban copied from Toriyama.
