Janperson 5-6: Introducing The Two Other Villains, Neo-Guild And Super Science Network

The format of the Rescue Police Trilogy hardly had a main villain. Winspector never gave us a main villain. Instead, the villain from the very first episode had Susume Kurobe (the first Ultraman) appear as a demented scientist and was the final villain of the show. Later, Solbrain still had no central villain but we had the overarching villain Takaoka acted by Masanori Jisen. Exceedraft gave a big stretch that after several episodes of no central villain - Satan himself in the form of Iwao Daimon becomes the overarching antagonist. Janperson put a very different approach as there's the Evil vs. Evil group - all bidding for the control of Japan and then the world.

Episode 5

The first villain after Tatewaki to be introduced is George Makabe. Both George and Ben have the same father but different mothers. What happened to Makebe's mother anyway? We have legendary actor Kazuoki Takahashi. Back then, I called him "Robin Padilla" who is currently a senator in the Philippines. Kazuoki played Sho Hayate in Changeman and Hakko Kita in Metalder. Here, Kazuoki IS a villain and the new leader of the Neo-Guild. Why it was called the Gang Guards in the Tagalog dub is beyond me.

This is where I almost thought we'd always get a monster-of-the-week. Omega-DX is a new android that was designed to fight based on Janperson's know weapons. It does get cheesy though when Janperson releases the Arc Fire and Jan Blader. Omega-DX relied too much on pre-programmed moves. Janperson was able to defeat the new foe with new weaponry. Cheesy but it works.

The plot has a child of the week. It's a girl who's lost her ability to walk. I guess Janperson was pretty much hell-bent on doing some Jiban tributes with some children of the week. We had a child of the week during the first and second episode. Now, we're having one and Janperson encourages her to walk again after she's too scared of doing so.

Originally, I felt he was my favorite villain. I felt Makabe was a pretty cool villain. Besides, Makabe would be the first of the three to directly face Janperson when Gun Gibson arrives. This guy just has thrills.

Episode 6

The next episode features Reiko Ayanokouji. I couldn't help but compare her hairdo to Juliette Faxx of Robocop 2. The main difference was that Juliette was a researcher at OCP while Reiko works alone. Talk about giving Juliette the status as an Ascended Extra! The episode also features Dr. Tony Lechon ahem Takeshi Ishikawa (Captain Garoa of Fiveman) and Jou Onodera (the son of Shotaro Onodera aka Shotaro Ishinomori). Jou was also in Kamen Rider BLACK RX as a chef. Interestingly, Reiko was also Maribaron from the said show. Before that, she had a short role in Juspion.

The show features Super Science Network (which was dubbed as Supertech in Tagalog) in its schemes. Jou's character Sukezo became an ice mutant. What happens next is that Dr. Lechon ahem Dr. Shina creates the Iceman weapon to defeat Janperson. It's a tragic episode... really. Janperson had no choice but to use Arc Fire on Iceman to uphold justice. The obvious failure also creates a running gag. Reiko did drop Dr. Shina down a bottomless pit instead of activing the bomb in his body.

I think it'd be funny though if Dr. Shina was demoted to the janitorial post. Why? Garoa got into the janitorial post so Fiveman can focus on Breakout Villain, Chevalier. Chevalier became so popular with the fans that Keichiro Uemara's name got credited in the finale's opening credits. I felt it'd be funny if Dr. Shina was demoted to janitorial duties. Then again, Takeshi was just a guest character so I guess dropping him into a bottomless pit (which became Reiko's running gag in some episodes) was the best thing, right?

See you again!
