Some 1980s Cartoon Villains That Got More Menacing Counterparts In The 2000s

Some people grew up watching reruns of the 1980s cartoons such as He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, The Transformers, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, or G.I. Joe. I decided to compile some of the 1980s villains that got more dangerous in the remakes. For better or for worse -- some of these villains that got more dangerous in the remakes.

Cobra Commander (Sigma SIX)

Okay, this Cobra Commander still has the zany antics like the 1980s villain. However, Sigma Six created a Cobra Commander that you'd be afraid. What makes Sigma Six CC more dangerous is that he can actually FIGHT ONE ONE ONE. This Cobra Commander managed to give the Sigma Six team a run for their money more than once. Duke even learns the hard way that this isn't like 1980s CC. Sigma Six CC has a darker, more menacing personality. I could imagine how Sigma Six CC would probably get rid of Serpentor immediately.

What I think was the wrong target market. What made 1980s CC relatable because children expect really stupid villains. 1980s CC was portrayed to be some kind of cowardly nitwit. 1980s CC got even worse during the DIC seasons -- which were thankfully cut short. Sigma Six CC would face off against danger more often than not. What's even worse is that Sigma Six's cancellation has Sigma Six CC still at large. Oh boy, you'd hate to run into this guy!

2003 Shredder is way more menacing than the hilariously dangerous 1987 Shredder

I watched Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1987) and the remake in 2003. 2003 Shredder is actually an Utrom named Ch'rell. Okay, I used to call him "Krang" but the name is CH'RELL. The 1987 Shredder was meant to be comic due to the TV-Y7-FV standards. The darker tones made this what Shredder would be IF he was also Krang. Okay, Krang was also a hammy villain too. Ch'rell had the blood of MANY in his hands. 2003 Shredder even showed both his 1987 counterparts namely 1987 Shredder and 1987 Krang who's boss in Turtles Forever. This is the Shredder that appealed to older audiences.

2002 Skeletor is potentially more dangerous than 1982 Skeletor

I'm among those who believe that Skeletor was based on Comic Thulsa Doom. The Movie Thulsa Doom was closer to Thoth-Amon. Comic Thulsa was portrayed to have a skull for a head. The 2002 Skeletor was potentially more sinister. 1982 Skeletor was meant to be a typical cartoon villain. Not so with 2002 Skeletor. Sure, I was annoyed when the 2002 He-Man series failed to include the iconic theme. However, 2002 Skeletor is portrayed to be incredibly cunning while maintaining his abusive behavior.

What made 2002 Skeletor potentially more dangerous? 2002 Skeletor led a rebellion that nearly cost him his life. Later, 2002 Skeletor even managed to avoid 2002 Hordak's release from Despondos. It should be noted he ATTEMPTED to murder 2002 Evil Lynn after she helped release King Hiss. This Skeletor hatched some typical crazy plans. However, there were times that 2002 Skeletor proved he was far more dangerous than his 1987 counterpart. In fact, this is one Skeletor that I'd be too afraid to cross or would intimidate me. I'd say that this might've been Thulsa Doom IF he were the Conan the Adventurer's recurring villain instead of Wrath-Amon!

It's too bad that He-Man (2002) got canceled all too soon. I guess there was confusion on which audience it wanted to have. Was it the older audience or was it the younger audience. I freaking wanted to see 2002 Hordak released and defeated!
