Is Mortal Kombat 1 plain woke or not? If there are multiple timelines then people DO reincarnate in the Mortal Kombat universe. It's not exactly confusing. Liu Kang is from the Shaolin Temple after all. In the New Era -- we have roles reversed. As Cassie Cage said in MK11, "Timelines are confusing." The trailer reveals Cyrax and Sektor are now women? Are these the reincarnations of the previous ninjas (and Lady Sektor is revealed to be Madame Bo's daughter) or other versions? Jacqui Briggs may have been reincarnated as Lady Cyrax for all we know.
Fire God Liu Kang reveals to MK1 Sindel the past timeline. Yes, that moment you realize that MK9 wasn't actually the past but ANOTHER TIMELINE. That means Raiden sent a message to his NEXT LIFE than to his PAST SELF. Raiden mistook visions of his past self as his future self! MK1 Sindel was told what she was in another timeline. This would only mean REINCARNATION. That means the evil Sindel in MK11 was the reincarnation of the loving Sindel from the Midway continuity. The evil Shang Tsung used may have created the Sindel that Shao Kahn wanted. The new timeline had everyone reincarnated to the new timeline. Kronika may have directed the wheel of reincarnation for all we know!
Hinduism and Buddhism both teach gender can change during reincarnation. Some stories state that Ksitigarbha was once a Brahmin maiden (a woman) before becoming a man. The same story was said that Avalokitesvara was once a man in many past lives -- before becoming a woman. Gautama Buddha was said to have been a woman in his past life too. In this case, it's possible that Cyrax and Sektor were both reincarnated as women. Kung Jin may have been a woman in his past life too. Chances are Cyrax and Sektor may remember their past lives as men.
Many roles changed during Fire God Liu Kang's new timeline. Mileena is now Kitana's older sister. Baraka was born as a normal family man who caught the disease called Tarkat. The recent downloadable Takeda is Kenshi's cousin. However, Takeda was Kenshi's son in another timeline. Takeda wasn't featured in the Midway continuity but in the Netherrealm continuity. Kuai Liang is reincarnated as the new Scorpion. However, Hanzo Hasashi is reincarnated as a child. If that's so then the cycle of reincarnation creates an unimaginably complex web.
With MK1 Scorpion being Kuai Liang and not OG Hanzo Hasashi -- it's possible that Lady Cyrax and Lady Sektor aren't the reincarnations of the original. Instead, these two may be totally different people. As stated earlier, Jacqui might be Lady Cyrax and Lady Sektor would be Madame Bo's daughter. As the wheel of reincarnation turns -- there's really a lot of crazy events that can happen!
