Mortal Kombat (2011) is that one game that's hard to get go. Sure, I enjoyed Mortal Kombat X the most from the reboot trilogy. Mortal Kombat 11 probably didn't do much while I still enjoy using Shao Kahn and pretending to be the evil guy. However, Mortal Kombat 11 may have been too focused on fanservice such as Shao Kahn's playability or Cary Hiroyuki-Tagawa reprising his role yet again. Right now, I'm perfectly fine if Cary wouldn't voice Shang Tsung (again) due to his age and real life issues. I'm already thinking of stuff like, "Sooner or later the PS3's gonna break." Yeah, I would get too busy to play Mortal Kombat (2011) later in life. However, I feel the game shouldn't suffer the well-deserved fate of Mortal Kombat Trilogy. Mortal Kombat Trilogy doesn't deserve a re-release for being a badly broken game IMHO!
Two years ago, Ed Boon actually revealed the problem with Mortal Kombat (2011). Remastering the game is no easy feat. I hope Netherrealm realizes that Mortal Kombat 1 is bloated and problematic. They might think about two options. They could treat Mortal Kombat (2011) as a remake instead of a remaster. It's because I heard it might be difficult due to Freddy and Kratos. It might make it better to actually REMAKE IT FROM SCRATCH as a way to "save" the game. That might mean adding new features to the Story Mode -- such as being able to replay certain chapters like in later games. It might also mean adding the One Player VS. CPU or the Endless Tower function. It might even mean adding Friendships with Babalities. However, I'd prefer getting rid of Babalities in favor of Friendships. One might add the Brutality in the same style as Killer Instinct's Ultra Combo to rectify the mistake done during the 1990s.
This would mean brainstorming yet again. Would it mean recreating all the cut scenes in Story Mode from scratch while maintaining the old dialogue? Would it mean recreating some character models? If so, I'd like to reimagine Shang Tsung looking like Tagawa even if the voice will not be used (for understandable reasons). Would it mean bringing back some old stages from the first three games even if they will never show up in Story Mode? Would it mean remaking some older fatalities? Would it mean that Motaro may become an NPC? However, I still feel Motaro was a huge mismatch and Netherrealm may not be that keen on bringing him back as an NPC. There's a lot of ideas to explore as it's been more than a decade.
