Shinnok's Shorter Screen Time In "Mortal Kombat X" Might Be A Play On The Concept Of Silence CAN Be Deadly

Mortal Kombat X's Story Mode can be divisive. Was it all that bad? I confess that Mortal Kombat X has better gameplay than Mortal Kombat (2011) often called Mortal Kombat 9. I would like to share my thoughts that Mortal Kombat 9's Story Mode was practically Mortal Kombat Trilogy written. Mortal Kombat X is a rewrite of Mortal Kombat 5/Gold with a touch of Tekken 3. The time skip of 25 years was another issue. It's easy for people (including myself) that Shinnok was a victim of "injustice". It's because Shinnok is potentially more powerful than Shao Kahn -- but that Midway (and later Netherrealm Studios) is overly dependent on Shao Kahn!

The Story Mode begins with Johnny Cage and the Netherrealm Invasion. I thought it was a breath of fresh air to have both Johnny Cage and later, Cassie Cage, defeat Shinnok. They had a temporary advantage which they COULDN'T just summon at any time. The "green energy" only surfaces if Johnny of Cassie see a loved one in danger. Cassie was only able to summon the green energy when she saw her father Johnny in danger. The story has Johnny Cage's chapter ending with Shinnok being sealed in the Amulet. Cassie's chapter (the finale) has Shinnok finally returning from the Amulet. It seems that Shinnok's limited screen time was an injustice. However, I'd like to rethink the situation.

Shao Kahn is a brute force enforcer. Shinnok is a master deceiver. However, Shinnok didn't reach the same levels of hate. Shinnok's LIMITED SCREEN TIME may be meant to do this -- because Shinnok is SOMEONE WHO WORKS BEHIND THE SHADOWS. Shinnok may have been sealed inside his Amulet. However, it should be noted that Shinnok's Amulet is something Raiden fears. Li Mei's revelation of Mileena's weapon to be Shinnok's Amulet feels like, "Okay, is he just a weapon?" However, one may not notice that somehow, Shinnok despite NOT SPEAKING A WORD may have orchestrated the events OFF-SCREEN. After all, Shinnok orchestrated the events in Mortal Kombat 9 BTS. Shinnok didn't show up BUT it's possible that he was setting up the Outworld War EVEN FROM WITHIN THE AMULET.

Mileena had Shinnok's Amulet during the Civil War. It's possible that Shinnok probably promised (BTS) that Mileena would have absolute power. Shinnok's Amulet was passed from one to another -- proving that Shinnok is a CORRUPTING FORCE. Shinnok didn't need to speak a word. Shinnok probably took advantage of JUST ANYONE. Shinnok's Amulet was also used by Havik and Mileena at certain points. It seems that Shinnok could influence ANYONE even if being sealed inside his Amulet.

However, the plot twist (or not) that D'Vorah was SECRETLY working for Quan Chi, could be the hint of another thing. Mileena was revealed to be slowly becoming insane from using Shinnok's Amulet. It's possible that Shinnok was indirectly corrupting Mileena's mind. Mileena wanted to take Outworld back. Shinnok may have mentally influenced Mileena WITHOUT A WORD. Mileena was DYING SLOWLY and Shinnok is a death god. It's a really dangerous bargain. Later, D'Vorah MURDERS MILEENA via a literal kiss of death. D'Vorah would later be revealed that she was SHINNOK'S SPY ALL ALONG. In a way, Shinnok may have slowly been a chessmaster from whatever dimension he was STUCK IN!

Shinnok soon displays his influence towards KOTAL KAHN. Kotal Kahn was supposedly neutrally aligned. However, Kotal Kahn, a MAN OF HONOR, turns against the Kombat Kids! Why would Kotal Kahn suddenly want the amulet to remain with him? Is't that funny? I find it funnier than ever! Kotal an honorable Kahn becomes compromised. Later parts of Story Mode reveal that Kotal has been corrupted. Why would the honorable Kotal want to appease Shinnok just like that?

It should be important to realize that when Shinnok is released ONCE MORE in Hanzo Scorpion's chapter -- SHINNOK HAS PERFECT AWARENESS! Shinnok returns with 100% awareness of the events that happened -- hinting he was either able to MANIPULATE EVENTS BTS or had awareness of the events even when locked up! Shinnok is not showing the attitude of someone who was just released from jail. Instead, Shinnok was smiling, smirking, looking at things that HE MAY HAVE PLANNED PERFECTLY. NO NEED FOR HIM TO HAVE CUTSCENES. Instead, Shinnok could be viewed as the SILENT MANIPULATOR.

Shinnok's lesser screen time significantly differs him from the more popular Shao Kahn. Shao Kahn is possibly more popular because he's a LARGE HAM. Shinnok is the SILENT THREAT. Shinnok was certainly still able to have some degree of control. Shinnok's not that interesting at first. However, if one looks at Shinnok -- HE'S A REAL SILENT KILLER INDEED!
