Hercules: The Legendary Journeys' Alteration Of The Story Of The Four Seasons

Hercules: The Legendary Journeys' opening narration called it a time of myth and legend. Basically, the whole story of Hercules in Greek mythology, where he was called HERAcles meaning "Glory of Hera".  The story of Hercules actually helped explain several stuff that exist today because of the Inachid dynasty. Yes, if you look at the family tree, you'll realize several stuff like the birth of Persia was because of PERSEUS' firstborn son with Andromeda, PERSES.

This was the messed-up family tree, and from this inbred mess came the world as we know it. The nations were born from the Inachid line. In fact, it's a huge creation story that may have required inbreeding in order to exist or for Hercules to finally be born. We realize that Hercules' ancestors were also his half-brothers such as Perseus and Epaphus, or that Poseidon was also his ancestor and paternal uncle, and Zeus was his father and ancestor many times over. All these events came to explain the world as we know it.

One episode of Hercules: The Legendary Journeys tried to rewrite the myth of Hades and Persephone. Hades was played by Erik Thompson, who might've been rewritten as Zeus' younger brother, given the youthful, more handsome appearance compared to Zeus' elderly appearance. The actual mythology of Hercules creates the hero for the following natural structures today:

  • The Milky Way was born when Hera breastfed Hercules by accident (which some say gave him his unusual strength).
  • The Twelve Labors explained the following natural structures:
    • Slaying the Nemean Lion made Peloponnese a habitable place.
    • The Constellation Cancer and Hydra were born from the second labor, fighting the Hydra. The crab was sent by Hera to try and stop Hercules. In some sources, Hercules' fighting the Hydra also cleared the way in Lerna while also producing some poisonous plants.
    • Capturing the Erymanthian Boar rid the mountain forests of a massive, destructive beast that was terrorizing the wilderness and trampling vineyards.
    • The Alpheus and the Peneus rivers were diverted when Hercules cleaned the Augean stables.
    • Getting rid of the Stymphalian birds made the place more habitable.
    • Capturing the Cretan Bull neutralized a localized ecological disaster that was destroying Cretan agriculture.
    • Capturing the Mares of Diomedes rebalanced the ecology, as they were an anomaly to the environment in Thrace.
    • Hercules' journey across the world during the Twelve Labors separated Europe and Africa, as well as created a permanent gateway between the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean. This happened when he was on the way to capture Geryon's cattle.
The show had Demeter going crazy when Persephone eloped with Hades. Demeter begged Hercules for help. However, the mythology had Zeus send Hermes to the Underworld. The show also changed Hercules' marital life by integrating Deianira and Megara (his first wife, who died when he went insane) into one person. The show chose to make Hercules involved during the four seasons, while dropping away his involvement in the creation of the milk way whe he was an infant.
