"Jason and the Argonauts" (2000) By Hallmark Wishful Casting: Meg Foster As Hera, The Late Charles Keating As Zeus, And KEVIN SORBO As Hercules
I was thinking that Jason and the Argonauts (2000) could've used the benefit of Hercules: The Legendary Journeys. Continuity CAN be ignored for all I care. However, just imagine if Jason and the Argonauts had Meg Foster returning as Hera, the late Charles Keating as Zeus, and even KEVIN SORBO as Hercules. Sure, it would be INDEPENDENT of the TV show timeline. However, I thought about how each one could impact the mini-series in performance.
I felt Charles and Meg had the chemistry to act as a dysfunctional couple. So yeah, imagine if the vibes from Hercules: The Legendary Journeys were added into Jason and the Argonauts. Meg would've added a chill that would completely give Pelias reasons to tremble. Add Charles to the equation as Zeus. That would've probably been a real feast to behold. Not to mention...
Casting Kevin as Hercules would've been F*CKING EPIC. Just imagine Kevin playing a different Hercules not linked to his TV series. Instead, this Hercules gets more screen time to clear the way for Jason. Hercules, the greatest of all heroes, would be on board the Argos, unaware that his stepmother Hera was sponsoring the whole trip! Hera's watchful eyes would be on the Argos to make sure that Pelias gets his due. Hercules would've probably had a much bigger part with Kevin as Hercules. Sure, Kevin won't get to slay Pelias but he'd clear out the way!
It was great to have Dennis Hopper play Pelias. Too bad that Meg, Charles, and Kevin couldn't play the parts of Hera, Zeus, and HERCULES in the mini-series.
