While I did enjoy Beetleborgs for awhile but this show totally made me consider Beetleborgs to be a garbage show eventually. So here's a little bit of B-Fighter- you don't have three typical average kids who free the ghost to make them B-Fighter, no not that! So here's how it goes- invaders from another world known as Jamahl (Magnavores in Beetleborgs) are about to enter our dimension and three youngsters get chosen to fight them. So what makes it even cooler is that it's no comic book coming to life enemies but rather REAL LIFE threatening situations, no annoying Flabber but rather we have...
Warning: SPOILERS below...
Insect Elder Guru who granted the B-Fighters their powers. No they didn't free him from a pipe organ, he was really there. So he was aware of the threat of Jamahl so he called them.
Professor Kenzou Mukai who worked as the mentor. He does look like an uncle of mine. :P He was the mentor at Academia. I've seen this guy also in other J-Dramas. :P
Now my thoughts on the B-Fighters...
Takuya was an insect researcher, Daisaku was a tree doctor (green SERVES HIM RIGHT) and Rei was an animal instructor. First, Takuya is NOT siblings with Rei. While it was fun seeing the three of them, toob ad Rei's actress got a neck injury causing her to eventually leave the set. However Mai proved to be a good replacement for superficial fanboys that is! For Takuya it was fun as soon as he becomes Super Blue Beet with the help of the Beetle Ingram.
The B-Fighters have one set of badass mecha. I just gave my thoughts they could have been the inspiration of the Goraigers' mecha in Hurricanger. My favorite was when the Mega Heracles arrived, all three mecha docked into it and they used its cannon to destroy a Jamahl hole coming into existence.
Now for the villains... the Jamahl NOT the Magnavores...
The big bad himself Gaohm (not Vexor) is portrayed to be far more ruthless than Vexor in Beetleborgs. Being voiced by the late Takeshi Watabe makes him WAY scarier than that stupid Vexor. Also, there's a dark secret about him that gets revealed that causes him to kill one of his generals. While he started off as a human sized being, later he became giant head, only one arm with an exposed giant heart in space (that was gross) and his true identity was revealed by Jera.
Jera, Schwartz and Gigaro are no pushoevers like the Beetleborg counterparts. Each one of them is vicious, evil and for one, Schwartz is no idiot like his Beetleborg counterpart. Each one of them had their own bizarre origins that got revealed. Like Schwartz is really a computer virus, Gigaro was a monster created from various animal parts and Jera is actually a Caucasian woman (WTF). Also, Jera's drama concluded when she discovered Gaohm's true identity was he was just an embryo as she paid for it with her life, but not without redeeming her dark soul.
The sorceress Jagul herself. She was hired by Gaohm to create the clone of Takuya called Black Beet (Shadowborg's counterpart) and while she was thought to have been killed, she did actually return after the defeat of Gaohm to absorb multiple monsters into herself to become the "Borgslayer"... where she also absorbed Reiko and Billgoldy into her. Her failure to absorb Gigaro proved her downfall. Also, Billgoldy dragged her down to Hell for good... serves her right.
Shadow is also more interesting than dumb old Shadowborg. Why? He really lingers throughout the whole series as a menace that's not to be underestimated. Spoiler is... he survived after the defeat of Gaohm and went into an epic mega-duel with Takuya/Blue Beet to the death. It's definitely one of the most awesome finales ever.
That's all I can offer for now.
