After Mighty Morphin' became a monster hit -- we know what happened. Both Toei Ltd. and Saban got greedy. Considering that Power Rangers relies too much on Super Sentai footage and well fotoage has run out -- Saban actually requested Toei for 25 sets of fresh new footage. Toei created 25 more monster suits which weren't used in the actual Zyuranger show but were for exclusive use of Saban Entertainment during that time.
What was interesting was this -- all 25 monsters were supposedly Rita Repulsa's. Lord Zedd was spliced into Zyu2 footage (and many re-edits of Rita Repulsa and perhaps an uncredited actress kissing Lord Zedd's foot). All 25 monsters encountered the DINOZORDS and they were supposedly Rita's monsters in the originally intended footage. This should also be very interesting...
Yup, that's right, Piranhatis Head was actually fighting Dino Megazord! I just NEVER noticed that when I was younger! Also, you may want to notice this scene was slipped into the Zyu2 footage...
Yes, I'm talking about how Gosei Sentai Dairanger footage was slipped. Just noticed that was Ventriloquist getting destroyed by Dairenou. Did you notice the monster on the left was obviously NOT Piranhatis Head? This is really that awkward as an adult watching it. It's just so amazing how they suddenly decided to start splicing Dairanger footage into the Zyu2 footage midway. But I guess Toei, Bandai and Saban got so greedy that it didn't matter how stupid it was -- they did it anyway!
Seriously? This has also been another why I personally don't like Power Rangers. The whole scenario is that splicing Japanese footage with original American footage can be very weird. How many times do you notice that the out-of-suit fight scenes or the American suit fight scenes don't get a smooth transition towards the Japanese suit fight scenes? One moment the cast is fighting out of suit in their actual location then seconds later -- they're in Japan! Sure, later seasons started to introduce more American exclusive footage but that doesn't change the fact that for some reason -- they still need some Japanese fight footage to blend in! It's just awkward with all that transition going on.
Season 2 of MMPR was just the most disrespectful season of Super Sentai, years before the travesty known as Super Megaforce!! Not using the Dairanger suits still anger me to this day cause it would've been so cool to see a new villain(Lord Zedd), new zords(Thunder Zords).....and new suits. Tommy's draining green ranger powers, could've been the component that Zordon could use to create the Thunder Rangers(which is what I would've named the Dairanger suits), which would of led to Zack being the new green ranger and the gold trimming on the Dairanger suits could also pay homage to the Dragonshield. It would've been a fine transiiton but like you said, its all ab out money
