Who can remember 1990s cartoon shows that only lasted for one season? I remember watching some of those shows like Pro-Stars, The Wizard of Oz (by DIC), Dino Riders, Galtar and the Golden Lance, Conan and the Young Warriors (which was really TERRIBLE), etc. which never went for a whole year's run. Some of them get canceled before they could be concluded. Haim Saban tried to bring Princess Tenko (who's currently 65) to America. However, it didn't work.
The magician Princess Tenko showed up in three of Toei's Tokusatsu shows. Tenko showed up in episode 31 of Denzi Sentai Denziman. Tenko would later guest star as HERSELF rather than a made-up character. Tenko's guest role in Ucchu Keiji Gavan in episode 29 (and she also ran into Hirohisa Nakata aka Mason in Chodenshi Bioman) and in episode 24 -- ALSO AS TENKO! In my case, the most memorable performance for me was in Gavan -- back when it was dubbed as Skyranger Gavan in Tagalog.
The show premiered in 1995. It failed to capture an audience, just like Saban's adaptation of The Avengers. Saban's X-Men: The Animated Series and Spider-Man: The Animated Series managed to gain an audience, but not Tenko. I couldn't tell why Tenko and the Guardians of Magic failed. My assumption is that it was overshadowed by a lot of better stuff from within and without.
