#ThrowbackThursdays: It's Been A Decade Since Saban's Return Made Power Rangers EVEN WORSE Than Disney

I remembered one time when the Disney Power Rangers seasons. A look back, we can see that Disney took over Power Rangers halfway Power Rangers Wild Force which the acting was considered sub-par in contrast to Power Rangers Time Force. Personally, I felt Time Force was watchable, Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue was also watchable but like some early Showa era Kamen Rider entries, Chojinki Metalder, and Dengekitai JAKQ - they were rushed. The Disney era had a bad habit of shortcuts. Power Rangers Ninja Storm only lasted for 38 episodes (two episodes shorter than usual) and anything after Power Rangers Dino Thunder was cut down to just 32 episodes. After Power Rangers RPM (and I'd honestly watch Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters any day after I ended up dumping Engine Sentai Go-Onger because Gekisou Sentai Carranger is SO MUCH BETTER), they decided to bring that idiotic Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers remastered. Some were wishing Haim Saban will re-buy the rights from Toei Ltd. Though, it just got REALLY BAD after it happened - we entered the Nickelodeon era. Nickelodeon is sure getting bad to worse and not just Disney. Just think of how Spongebob Squarepants keeps getting milked out - that series just needs to get canceled already like any other show. Butch Hartman ended up leaving the network because it's getting bad to worse.

Power Rangers Samurai came and I really think it's HORRIBLE on its own. I don't need to keep comparing it to Samurai Sentai Shinkenger to know what went wrong. On its own, it just really tried to go back to the 90s. It's no longer the freaking 90s. Just because Mighty Morphin' became a monster hit doesn't mean that Power Rangers will always be a monster hit. The Nickelodeon setting gave an even worse alternative to Disney's slap-dash seasons - the SUMMER BREAK. Until now, I find the summer break rather stupid. I don't get it why would they even give Power Rangers a summer break. That also added to another reason why I end up disliking Power Rangers aside from Mighty Morphin's overextension, the stupid Dear John letter plot in Power Rangers Zeo is a pathetic excuse, the overextension of the Zordon arc overall, and Disney's rushed reasons. I mean, who really in the right mind will believe the OBVIOUS LIE that Samurai allegedly became more popular than Shinkenger? The statement that Power Rangers Lost Galaxy was supposedly more popular than Seijuu Sentai Gingaman in Japan is a LIE. Though, Lost Galaxy was actually quite popular during the 90s in its HOME COUNTRY.

What's even worse to think about is the riding all over with what I'd call the Mighty Morphine Hype. Samurai really tried to be Mighty Morphin' all over again rather than seek new ways to do the series. The return of Bulk and giving him a nephew called Spike is one. The rehash of the original Mighty Morphin' theme song is another - it's still like that! After two seasons of Samurai - Power Rangers Megaforce showed up and ruined things further. It tried to be Mighty Morphin' ALL OVER AGAIN. Sometimes, I really want to assume that Andrew Gray's acting is that of an unenthusiastic actor who's hating his role. Ciara Hanna seems to be showing an angry face because the script is SO BAD. Can the same be said about the rest? Eventually, things just got worse and even killing potentials. I thought Power Rangers Dino Charge had potential but that SUMMER BREAK killed it. Then, I could think about how Power Rangers Ninja Steel ends up vindicating the rather awful Shuriken Sentai Ninninger by being MUCH WORSE. It really was almost like Ninja Steel was going to be worst for last. Ratings were practically NOSE-DIVING.

Was Saban really still thinking of his past success with Power Rangers like DECADES AGO? It was 1993 and he returned to the franchise in 2011. That would make it like freaking 18 years ago! It could have been time to stop riding on Mighty Morphin'. Instead, that whole idea is operating based on a Krusty Krab mindset. Strangely enough, Kamen Rider OOO aired also in 2011, and Kougami or Cake Boss was almost a representation of Saban's return to Power Rangers. Right now, I even feel like Toei Ltd.'s creation of Cake Boss seems like Toei Ltd. could care less about Power Rangers. Does it even look like that Toei Ltd. is probably saying, "We don't care how bad Power Rangers has become. What's important is that we're getting our royalties." I wonder if Saban even gave that some thought that the royalty fees are still there. It's really sad that a guy who once gave me part of my childhood (his Marvel-based cartoons like X-Men and Spiderman, the Super Mario Bros. Super Show) screwed himself up really hard!
