Mortal Kombat X: Excited and Scared at the Same Time!

Mortal Kombat X is one game that gets me excited and scared at the same time.  Meanwhile, I am thinking of the story that takes place 25 years after everyone was reincarnated.  In the next life, Sonya and Johnny Cage marry and have a daughter.  Jax was able to somehow revive and have a daughter named Jacqueline.  A Liu Kang-lookalike named Takeda is Kenshi's son.  The whole story somehow takes place to 25 years instead of having a reboot of Mortal Kombat 4/Gold.  Somehow, this game is how everybody's reincarnation is either for the better or for the worse.

So what's new for the fighting game's engine?  Each character will get three variations each which will determine how a character is played as.  In a way, I think it will be exciting but might frustrate beginners at the same time compared to Mortal Kombat (2011).  Another thing that has been featured are throwing some foreground objects.

Brutalities are back but they aren't the long hit combos (boo).  Brutalities will be performed like Killer Instinct's Ultra Combos that is, they are the combo ender for the final round when the opponent's life bar is flashing red.  My disappointment is that we don't get to see some cool juggles with all the blood splattering here and there.  Instead, we will see a brutal combo ender that's got to hurt more than the cool juggles of Killer Instinct.  Too bad Kenn Lobb (the genius behind Killer Instinct) never became part of Netherrealm Studios and Killer Instinct's latest game is exclusive to Microsoft.  Boo!

Meanwhile, I'm also thinking what in the world is Shinnok's role in the upcoming game.  While he's supposedly the ultimate evil, ruler of Hell but Mortal Kombat 4 made him so disappointingly stupid, Mortal Kombat Armageddon didn't make him sub-boss character and he did return in Mortal Kombat (2011) in a cameo.  So everything is set in motion so I do hope he is the final villain of sorts, responsible for all the events that had happened.  To be honest, this guy was so underused and misused.  I mean, come on he's the ultimate evil so make him really evil!

At the same time, I am hopeful that Liu Kang will still make the cut as a playable character since he's my favorite Mortal Kombat character.  We have an aged Kung Lao, so why not Liu Kang?  I would want to have Liu Kang returning as a character now fueled by vengeance, angry at Raiden and everything.  In fact, make him sort of like the Evil Ryu of the game.  I would like to see this Liu Kang still mad at the events 25 years ago, returning as a playable character from the beginning, twisted by some stupid mistake Raiden made.  At the same time Kung Lao should try to return him back to his former self.

So I'm hopeful that this game will have some redeeming factor to make me like it eventually!
