Lightspeed Rescue And Time Force's Missed Potential And Vindication By History?

Image
I could go ahead and still not think about Lightspeed Rescue at all while watching GoGoFive and I thought Time Force's toning things down actually worked their way. But I wonder what REALLY happened for these shows to get a budget cut in the form of only 40 episodes?! You can think of several reasons why I think these shows NEEDED extra episodes before they ended. There are several stuff that the American side had that the Japanese side didn't have which I will discuss over and out. I may be a huge Timeranger fan, I still think it's Yasuko Kobayashi's best work but I think Ransik was more entertaining than Don Dolnero -- especially with how he's a futuristic version of Dr. Giba from Jiban. Ransik had some depth in spite of his tendency to suffer from character decay -- you can think of how Hirohisa Soda ended up turning Garoa from a genuine threat to an idiot. Maybe we can also talk more about Trust and Triumph probably needed to be a two part arc. I would ha...

Was Alex Originally Intended To Be The Morally Ambigious "Main Villain" Of Time Force?

Image
The scenes when Alex returned in Power Rangers Time Force almost suggested that he could have been the "main villain" of Time Force. In what way? I thought of the following plot that could have been written but was thrown out of the window by executives. It's possible that Alex himself may have allowed Ransik to escape, feigned his death (or he did die but knew he'd eventually come back to life if Ransik escaped to the past) and decided to run the show himself. Maybe he was meant to be Power Rangers' version of Captain Ryuuya as a manipulative bastard. Okay, I'm just speculating but I think this is what was intended for Alex in Time Force. Alex shows back into the present and has seen the possibility of two futures: one where he'll die in both futures. One may involve Frax getting destroyed by his own creation Dragontron or one where Doomtron is forced to go haywire. How Lucas reacted here is almost a hint that maybe, just maybe we'll get a scene ...

What If Time Force's Unique Plots Were From Timeranger?

Image
Power Rangers Time Force introduced some plots that makes it a little more if not much more different than Timeranger except with time travel. Time Force was a pretty balanced season while Timeranger was a well-written atypical serious Super Sentai season or the Agito of Super Sentai. I'd like to think what if certain plots in Time Force were actually taken from Timeranger. Here's how I think it'd go. The whole love triangle across time I always found the whole love triangle across time to be something that gets me WTFed with Time Force. So Jen supposedly loses Alex and then she falls in love with his ancestor Wes. How screwed up can that get? So let's think about what if that happened in Timeranger. Let's just think what if we had a Tatsuya/Ryuya/Yuuri love triangle going on. Let's just say that Don Dolnero escaped and supposedly killed Ryuya in an attempt to rearrest him. Plot twist would be that Ryuya allowed himself to be injured knowing that Don Doln...

Power Rangers' Time Force Ransik May Be A Commentary On The Consequences Of Our Actions!

Image
While Mirai Sentai Timeranger existed as a fight against fate itself, Power Rangers Time Force presents a different angle. One could consider that Ransik himself may be a commentary to what's really wrong with society. While Power Rangers didn't have much of the exploration on the science theme  in the levels of Bioman, Flashman and Liveman. Power Rangers in Space didn't explore the consequences of the wrong use of science as Megaranger did. Instead, it was more on a space theme like Changeman was as a Super Sentai series. But Time Force somehow explored in some way the consequences of manipulating life.  In Ransik's origin story, he was born out of a laboratory accident. The story seems to follow from Jiban's main villain Dr. Giba who was actually born from a biological freak accident. It's not really established whether or not everyone was really aware Ransik was a mutant born out of a laboratory accident. Like Dr. Giba, he's filled with hatred for ...

Why I Think Timeranger's Ending Can't Fit Well Into Time Force

Image
After doing some Timeranger vs. Time Force comparisons, there's really a lot of stuff that I thought just won't fit well with Time Force. Time Force might as well be considered as a fun season, not meant to be depressing like Timeranger was. So how can it not fit in? Here's what I think why it just won't freaking work. Plus, most post-Timeranger Super Sentai seasons were much less serious except for Go-Busters. Alex being the "real villain" may not work I'd probably want to focus on what if Captain Alex Collins was sooner or later meant to be like Captain Ryuya Asami. Both of them were the red rangers of their era while they were also a descendant of the red rangers. When Alex returned and somehow survived or what, I was thinking would it be possible Alex allowed himself to be hurt by Ransik, he faked his death and was confirmed to be alive? Or would Ransik's stay in the year 2001 actually have caused Alex's revival? It's not really explai...

My Speculated List Of Other Power Rangers Time Force Plots That Got Modified By Executive Meddling And/Or Circumstances

Image
Because of a rumor that Judd Lynn intended to kill off Eric Myers/Quantum Ranger, I thought there were several, several plots that were probably intended for Time Force but were removed because they were probably "too inappropriate". Here's my wild guesses of what may have been intended but got removed from Time Force's scripts. Granted, Time Force may have never been intended to be darker and edgier to start with. A lot of these plots led to the finale and remember 9/11 happened that same year Time Force was on. Ransik himself may have been meant to die like Don Dolnero, perhaps by an out-of-control Frax. Frax was a person who Ransik brutally murdered the latter after all, right? I just had a thought that maybe in the original script, we'd see Ransik actually DIE because Frax somehow mortally wounds him. Maybe it was intended that Jen should go crazy after she realizes that she wasn't able to capture Ransik. Then it may have led to the part that Ransik...

Toning Down Power Rangers Time Force...

Image
While Power Rangers Time Force did copy some things from Timeranger like it's too easy to see Wes, Trip and Jen as Westernized versions of Tatsuya, Sion and Yuuri (oh please don't let her and Jen join forces)... one cannot deny some toning down happened.  So what caused the toning down?  It was serious but remember, Power Rangers is usually less serious than Super Sentai.  Maybe Judd Lynn got a series of complaints when he wrote Lost Galaxy.  So I believe a lot of events in Time Force were more of a result of executive meddling than Judd Lynn at the work. One toning down to consider is how Eric Myers was handled differently than Naoto.  Sad to say but I think Eric Myers deserves better praise for someone who normally likes Super Sentai better.  So Eric didn't try to exploit the secret location of the Time Force Rangers or seize control of the Silver Guardians even if he's still a jerk.  So why did Judd Lynn decide to change the scenario?  My on...

Quantum Ranger's Survival Makes Sense!

Image
Sometimes it does feel stupid that Eric Myers/Quantum Ranger survived but let's take a bit of common sense. Aside from the main difference that Mr. Collins goes into the city and Wataru Asami does not (which Judd Lynn shows he's not copy/pasting all the time from Kobayashi's scripts)... we have Eric Myers being severely injured. Now here's a bit of analysis.  First we have that lone Cyclobot armed.  Now why did the Zenitto kill Naoto and the Cyclobot DID NOT killl Eric Myers?  A big of common sense can help.  I was thinking Judd Lynn may have wanted to kill Eric Myers as well but was meddled into sparing him. The area where Eric Myers is hit out of suit doesn't look like a vital organ.  Again whether he died or not is not much of an issue.  Surviving and dying could have been two possible outcomes for him.  Whether he lived or died didn't matter.  On Naoto's case, him dying was the only practical way to write the scene after being shot by a...

Power Rangers Villains I Thought Were Really Cruel

Image
Power Rangers while most of the villains were pretty standard, some villains are pretty noteworthy for me namely: Trakeena- If Power Rangers in Space copied Shiima's storyline into Astronema, don't forget this mean bitch who is similar to Queen Ahames of Changeman in how she deals with people around her.  She manipulates both heroes AND villains for her own benefit.  She lies a lot, she causes destruction without remorse, plus she never fails to come up with her cruel schemes to make the lives of the Lost Galaxy Rangers miserable.  She bullies her father's generals with her position, manipulates them to her bidding and does the same to others.  People who were victim of her treachery among villains are Treacheron and Villamax.  Towards the end, she goes crazy and mad with power.  She was determined to destroy Terra Venture in the state of madness, only to be stopped by Leo. She later returned in Lightspeed Rescue and was finally destroyed.  Truly a ...

How Time Force Deviated From Timeranger

Image
Although Time Force sticks to time as the theme but there are some differences we may want to point out... While Timeranger had the year 3000 occupied by both aliens and humans living on Earth (and yes, Dolnero is NOT a mutant), Time Force has a unique deviation in its own way.  Ransik the Time Force main villain is NOT an alien but a mutant born from a laboratory accident.  The criminals that Time Force arrests are renegade mutants whose counterparts are aliens in Timeranger.  Timeranger was more of an ancestor to Dekaranger and Power Rangers SPD.  Time Force imo may have been inspired by X-Men as well with the mutant/human war and quite coincidentally, Faiz had the human vs. Orphnoch war as well.  I hope producers at Toei will add a mutant vs. human war in Super Sentai after it was done in Kamen Rider Faiz. Alex deviates greatly than Captain Ryuya who was that "I just want to live." type of character who can be debatable if he was a villain or not. ...
