Lightspeed Rescue And Time Force's Missed Potential And Vindication By History?

Image
I could go ahead and still not think about Lightspeed Rescue at all while watching GoGoFive and I thought Time Force's toning things down actually worked their way. But I wonder what REALLY happened for these shows to get a budget cut in the form of only 40 episodes?! You can think of several reasons why I think these shows NEEDED extra episodes before they ended. There are several stuff that the American side had that the Japanese side didn't have which I will discuss over and out. I may be a huge Timeranger fan, I still think it's Yasuko Kobayashi's best work but I think Ransik was more entertaining than Don Dolnero -- especially with how he's a futuristic version of Dr. Giba from Jiban. Ransik had some depth in spite of his tendency to suffer from character decay -- you can think of how Hirohisa Soda ended up turning Garoa from a genuine threat to an idiot. Maybe we can also talk more about Trust and Triumph probably needed to be a two part arc. I would ha...

Did Judd Lynn Originally Intend Queen Bansheera To Be Minus Energy?

Image
I thought Judd Lynn himself was always trying to be a little more serious than usual though it wasn't really the case in Time Force. Lightspeed Rescue may not be as serious as GoGoFive due to censorship reasons (ex. You can't have all that blood from GoGoFive making it into the series) but you can't deny it had some plots that may have scared people. One of them would involve Vypra's undignified demise, Bansheera making her minions kill each other and there's one plot that could have been added namely Grandienne's identity as negative energy itself. It's possible that Lynn himself wanted to port a little more footage namely Grandienne's final form as a malevolent spirit. It would have been nice to see a bit of Jinxer finding out that Bansheera is no longer limited to her whole body. Now Bansheera is negative energy incarnate where she would son revive her son Prince Olympius and her servant Diabolico as destruction gods. I would think that making Ba...

Wishful Cosplaying Anyone?

Image
After I refuse to really give too much of a big comparison between GoGoFive and Lightspeed Rescue since one are a group of siblings while the other isn't (except for Grandienne and Bansheera because I felt that Grandienne's plot didn't make it due to executive meddling), I just thought what if this happened at Morphicon 2016? Let Sean CW Johnson dress up as Ryoma Kagawa and let Mike Chaturantabut dress up as the main heroes from Winspector and Solbrain. I guess that would be a better treat than them wearing the Lightspeed Rescue jackets. Neither GoGoFive jackets nor Lightspeed Rescue jackets really look much better than the other. I think trying other Tokusatsu hero costumes would be better. While Super Sentai did birth Power Rangers but there's still other shows that may be better (for some anyway) than certain seasons of Super Sentai and Power Rangers. That event wouldn't feel complete without Hiroshi Miyauchi going to Power Morphicon. He's the man. He ...

Wishful Thinking: Chad Lee's Martial Arts Episode

Image
Chad Lee's martial arts focused episode in Lightspeed Rescue did show some decent amounts of original footage. Him fighting Cyclopter one on one shows that, "Mike Chat beats overrated JDF anytime!" Though I really had a thought that if Judd Lynn could copy ideas from Dynaman, Flashman and Changeman and Americanize them for Power Rangers then here's an idea that could've been used in Lightspeed Rescue. What could have been better is not that "Chad meets his martial arts master." because I felt like he's qualified to teach a bunch of kids. Instead, what if the Fiveman episode where Ken Hoshikawa beats Amoeba Rugin got copied into Lightspeed Rescue? What if Chad decided to fight Cyclopter out of suit to teach a couple of kids who feel like giving up not to give up? What are your thoughts?

Chad Lee In Lightspeed Rescue: A Throwback To Hirohisa Soda's Blue Rangers Who Were Water Sportsmen?

Image
While watching Gogo Five and some bits of Lightspeed Rescue, Chad is definitely no Americanized Nagare. Instead, he would feel like some awesome blue rangers way back in the Hirohisa Soda era. I felt like he's more like these guys instead of his Lightspeed Rescue counterpart which is cool, considering that it's better to borrow ideas from other shows, not just the Japanese counterpart. Dynaman's Yousuke Shiima is a swimmer and surfer, the first aquatic blue ranger. Ryuta Nanbara is a water sportsman. In the beginning of Bioman, Ryuta can be seen as a water sportsman and his intro shows he is one. Like this guy, Chad is an accomplished martial artist. Chad might be best viewed as an Americanized version of Ryuta.

Power Rangers Villains I Thought Were Really Cruel

Image
Power Rangers while most of the villains were pretty standard, some villains are pretty noteworthy for me namely: Trakeena- If Power Rangers in Space copied Shiima's storyline into Astronema, don't forget this mean bitch who is similar to Queen Ahames of Changeman in how she deals with people around her.  She manipulates both heroes AND villains for her own benefit.  She lies a lot, she causes destruction without remorse, plus she never fails to come up with her cruel schemes to make the lives of the Lost Galaxy Rangers miserable.  She bullies her father's generals with her position, manipulates them to her bidding and does the same to others.  People who were victim of her treachery among villains are Treacheron and Villamax.  Towards the end, she goes crazy and mad with power.  She was determined to destroy Terra Venture in the state of madness, only to be stopped by Leo. She later returned in Lightspeed Rescue and was finally destroyed.  Truly a ...
