When Mortal Kombat Copied From Killer Instinct Years Before The 2013 Reboot

Image
No franchise today is completely original. Tekken was a game that was clearly copied from several games. Virtua Fighter came first and Tekken came next. Anybody can obviously see that Tekken is full of pop culture references like Kazuya's Vegeta-style hair, Paul and Law might actually be based on Enter the Dragon's two main heroes , Nina is a Sarah clone, and you can think of Heihachi as Dr. Wily with muscles. Mortal Kombat has not been so original either especially when it got out of its comfort zone. The 3D era (which I consider a MESS now) was copying stuff. The same went for the reboot era which copied some stuff from Killer Instinct . Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance made some obvious and subtle references It's already known that I freaking hate this game for one good reason - my favorite character's death! It's like how I hate Marvel comics now for how they got rid of the Cyclops-Jean Grey coupling, how Wolverine just got tossed aside, etc. This game did try som...

Why I Think X-Box One Users May Get More For Their Money With Mortal Kombat X Than The Latest Killer Instinct Game!

Image
Back in the 90s, Killer Instinct was a real Killer for two consecutive games namely Killer Instinct 1 and Killer Instinct 2 which are now released for X-Box One, fully translated from the Arcade Games.  It has more fun mechanics than Mortal Kombat back in the past (which got overly simplistic with just HP, LP, HK, LK giving characters less distinction) and it had a lot of killer praise back then.  However the third return was a real Killer Letdown and again, just because you succeeded in the past doesn't mean you will always succeed. Remember this is just MY OPINION so you are free to disagree.  Right now, Mortal Kombat X will be released for the PS3 and the XBox 360 next month while last month, the PS4 and XBox One games were released.  Now it's time to share my opinion on to why X-Box One users may get more for their money than Killer Instinct (2013).  Now I don't have an X-Box One but I seldom end up renting one IF the game also appears in the X-Box One an...

XBox One Owners May Get More For Their Money With Mortal Kombat X Than Killer Instinct (2013)!

Image
So you might want to think which game would I suggest for XBox One owners assuming you don't have any of the games yet. We have Killer Instinct (2013) which now has a Season Two vs. Mortal Kombat X. Mortal Kombat (2011) had really been so far very impressive, that it basically rebooted the whole Mortal Kombat franchise to a whole new level of innovation. While the PS2 games were fun, Mortal Kombat (2011) was indeed a great game. Now with the release of Mortal Kombat X, some may also have considered Killer Instinct (2013). What I Think Went Wrong With Killer Instinct 2013 Last 2013, Killer Instinct "3" was launched only as Killer Instinct under Microsoft. Season One presented only eight playable characters namely Jago, Saberwulf, Glacius, Thunder, Sadira (new character), Orchid, Spinal, Fulgore and the bonus final boss Shadow Jago. Wow, pretty anemic with a lack of modes. Sure you get a cool combo system, get a lot of hits but the problem lies with its lack of conten...

Killer Instinct XBox's LETDOWN Endings Too!

Image
Killer Instinct itself used to have quality, animated endings for the arcade games and KI Gold for its time.  However here's what you'll just find.  You just get all these BAD shifting backgrounds and I mean come on it's XBox One!  I can understand if MK 2011 had less glamorous endings because they already made TONS and TONS of full 3D screenshots but still not excusable, Tekken had them too.  Now just look at how trashy the endings are!

Shame Netherrealm Studios Didn't Get Hold of the Rights to Killer Instinct!

In the past, Killer Instinct was a popular game for the Arcade and Super Nintendo which spawned what I might call a not-so-well sequel called Killer Instinct 2.  I was thinking if anybody could have handled Killer Instinct better it would have been Netherrealm Studios.  I know Midway went bad but Netherrealm Studios for me could have been better.  In fact if they did the game, here's what we might find: 1.) More than ten characters.  Netherrealm Studios may soon revive Cinder, Riptor and other fan favorites.  The might even now transport Maya, Kim Wu, Tusk and Gargos into the present to compete in a third tournament.  Sadira and maybe more new characters will be born.  Midway learned from its mistakes with the previous MK games and decided to adapt to change.  Too bad that Killer Instinct as a game now hasn't adapted much to change. 2.) Bloodier fatalities.  Shame that Killer Instinct for the X Box One has none of the No Mercies which wer...

Killer Instinct on the XBox One

Killer Instinct was a pretty popular game back then, which had two major games namely Killer Instinct I and II.  KI 2 was released as Killer Instinct Gold for the Nintendo 64 and that time, Rare was having a deal with Microsoft.  A third game soon got into developmental hell or oblivion, because of Rare.  So what I was thinking was that Killer Instinct may have become a game so left behind and so a third game, came out but here's the reality that I was thinking.  So okay I don't buy more than one video game system to avoid having too much to choose from, I do have my PS3 and won't buy a PS4 all so soon, this is for XBox One.  During the release the new Mortal Kombat reboot game which is infamous for its brutality and famous for its really new fresh system, I was hoping that Killer Instinct will become a property of Netherrealm Studios, instead it fell under Microsoft.  Microsoft may be good with its office software and the like but I really am no patron of ...

The Killer Instinct Game and Development Hell?

Killer Instinct, one of those great games in the 90s that was produced by Rare and published by Nintendo and it also had ties with Midway.  Two great games were produced namely Killer Instinct and Killer Instinct II, sadly the home systems were hardly near to the arcade goodness as the SNES was only 16-bit and the N64 didn't have as much power.  Rare is currently under Microsoft after it ended its partnership with Nintendo.  So what could have caused Killer Instinct not to have a third installment?  Puzzles me really on why a third game was never developed and it's been at least 17 years or more!  Only if Rare can release an official word on why Killer Instinct 3 never happened.  One of the worst things is that we'll never know the outcome of Gargos' demise as well.  Sad.  I thought the game had that much potential but sadly, everything went down just like the Conan: Crown of Iron movie.
