So Seriously, Why Was Lex Loath Not Included In "Megaman Legends 2"?

Image
Another game I missed playing is The Misdaventures of Tron Bonne . Yeah, that time when cheat codes became popular because games were super hard. Well, the PSX games weren't that hard compared to the NES and SNES days! The game was a spin-off prequel to Megaman Legends . This was a game to play as Tron Bonne. The Bonnes weren't exactly all too evil and were more of anti-villains. In fact, it's often hinted Tron Bonne has a Villainous Crush on Megaman Volnutt. The Misadventures of Tron Bonne featured two far more evil antagonists. One was Lex Loath -- an obvious reference to LEX Luthor from DC Comics . Glyde is the right-hand man. I found these two funny especially with their debt trap operation. Loath would charge interest on interest -- making him one of the best villains in the Legends series. I even felt he should've returned in Megaman Legends 2 . However, it seems that Glyde was more popular than Loath. However, I still feel Loath could've been an interesting...

Megaman Legends: The Reaverbots' Somewhat Unexplained Role

Image
I'm still inclined to believe that Megaman Legends is separate from the Classic Megaman series. It's because Barrell's diary reveals that Megaman Volnutt was found as a BABY and was called by Roll CASKETT by such -- after one of her favorite video game character. References from here and there suggest that the Classic Megaman timeline is a FICTION WITHIN A FICTION. A lot of stuff couldn't even fit into the OG timeline. One of them would be the Reaverbots. The Reaverbots are enemies found n the ruins. Call them the third wheel of the Megaman Legends franchise as they're enemies to both Megaman Volnutt and the Bonnes! Capcom has had a habit of releasing prequel games. For example, Megaman 7- 8 were released sometime after the first Megaman X series. Megaman 9-11 were released sometime after Megaman X8 . It seems Megaman ZX is an attempt to put the what could've been separate timeline into the Classic Megaman timeline. Ironically, Megaman Legends 3 never came to be...

Megaman Legends: Remembering Them Sidequests

Image
Megaman Legends is a game ahead of the fifth-generation consoles. Sure, it was limited but it's so sad Capcom abandoned this concept entirely. There was the spin-off Megaman X: Command Mission . However, I feel that Megaman Legends should've had at least one more game before it got canceled. Now, it's time to remember the time when I went on a sidequest. The sidequests could be tricky. I had to play the game several times before I discovered all of them. Depending on how one goes -- the sidequests can affect the way people will reply before Megaman Volnutt leaves Kattlelox Island. Some sidequests were only known to me either by (1) talking with friends, or (2) getting on the Internet. It reminds me of the good old days when gaming wasn't too expensive and Adobe didn't have that sh*tty subscription.  The game's sidequests can be either fun OR plain irritating. Some of them didn't affect much (such as that annoying Bomb sidequest and the Robbery Mission) while...

Megaman Legends: Still Remembering My Funniest Failure In The Game

Image
I confess that Megaman Legends is one series I wish hadn't gotten canceled so soon. A third game could've at least wrapped up the franchise before its cancellation. I would like to recall one of the craziest moments in my gaming history. I had Megaman Legends back in high school -- a game that I badly wanted. The game wasn't the standard Megaman game. I didn't like the idea that you had to ask Roll Caskett to switch weapons rather than be able to change weapons. Was it because of the memory space of the PSX back in the 1990s? Yes, the PSX is NOTORIOUS for its slow loading times. There are a lot of crazy moments in the game. One could talk about the sidequests where the Bonnes have a bomb threat (which I failed at it, MANY TIMES) and the hilarious Bank Robbery Mission. I'm prone to gamer rage A LOT. However, this was one gamer rage that makes me laugh at myself. The Defend City Hall mission is probably the craziest one... There was one annoying (but the same time fun...

Why I Don't Think Megaman Legends Is Part Of the Mainline Megaman Series

Image
Capcom unfortunately canned the prospective Megaman Legends 3 series (WTF) and now is making Street Fighter V just exclusive to PS4 for consoles in the current generation (again, WTF, they shouldn't have done that)... I really want to write my case why I personally don't think Megaman Legends really belongs to the Classic Megaman universe. Like Megaman Battle Network , it is best viewed as a spin-off rather than part of the original Megaman series. Now look at the settings of Megaman X and Megaman Legends - Megaman X has all the high technology in it which the Legends series lack. The Scouter would be obsolete in Megaman Legends . The Bonnes aren't even chased by the Maverick Hunters. You can go and list everything - Megaman Volnutt really belongs to a separate continuity from Classic Megaman. The default Megaman continuity goes from Megaman, Megaman X and Megaman ZX but there is no way that Megaman ZX after 1,000 years. I think the Megaman Legends series was a ground...

Megaman X And Megaman Legends Referencing To Each Other?

Image
The continuity of Megaman Legends can be seen as a totally different continuity. Having played Megaman Legends 2 - there's the diary of Professor Barrell Caskett. Yes, that means Roll Caskett isn't the Roll of Classic Megaman .  I once thought it was all the same continuity but the diary reveals that Megaman VOLNUTT is named after Classic Megaman . Classic Megaman is treated as Fiction Within a Fiction evidenced by the show in the bar, the video game, and a poster of Zero at the toy store. Megaman Legends was released in 1997 and the sequel Megaman Legends 2 was released in 2000. It's no secret that some Classic Megaman games come out after the Megaman X SNES Trilogy . For example, Megaman 7 came out sometime after Megaman X . Megaman Legends came with 3D Megaman spin-off that sadly never had the third installment. I think the game should've had a third installment before its cancellation. I mean, there was a lot of potential with the storyline especially the Elder Syst...

Dr. Wily Has Been An Evil Villain Consultant (With Different Aliases) In Megaman X?

Image
Megaman X as an obvious direct sequel to Megaman (classic) does have some stuff left to the imagination of the players. Granted, it's been at least 100 years since the original series ended and much can happen. Did Dr. Wily find a way to cheat death only to find out that he wasn't really having much of a choice? Dr. Wily didn't want to take the position lower than the Big Bad. However, it seems that he was left without a choice. There are theories that two characters namely Serges and Isoc are both robotic forms of Dr. Wily. It's also said that Dr. Wily is somehow a stream of consciousness that travels from one body to another. So, how does this work? One of the episodes of the third season of Transformers hast he once-mighty Cobra Commander after several years since COBRA was defeated. There's no more COBRA organization - only Cobra Commander going by the name of the Old Snake. The only way Cobra Commander could survive in the episode "Only Human" was to...

Trying To Fit In Megaman ZX Up To Megaman Legends?

Image
I was thinking about watching the Reploid Revo series on Youtube. The video above does tell the lore that I never played. Granted, I NEVER played Megaman Zero series or the Megaman ZX series so all I could do is to think. So, what could've happened during the time from the post-X series? Megaman X did become a Cyber Elf. It's not even stated what or how the Classic Megaman cast actually passed away. Though, statistics may confirm that Megaman X isn't Classic Megaman unless Capcom finally decided to retcon it in Megaman X5 . I think the Megaman X series really is pretty blur over what happened between the hundred years. Zero is confirmed as Dr. Wily's final creation. It's interesting to see how Reploids and humans have begun to merge in Megaman Zero and later Megaman ZX . In Megaman Legends , there is the term called Carbons. The Carbons are artificially created organic humans who can modify themselves to bizarre lengths - something that regular humans are incapable ...

Megaman X6: Isoc's Possible Real Identity Is...

Image
I don't deny that I'm a fan of Megaman X6 and I'm more than ready to defend it from unfair criticism . However, I think one of the weaker parts of the game is the introduction of Isoc. Isoc is assumed by some fans of the Megaman series to be a robotic avatar of Dr. Wily - just like Serges was in Megaman X2 . However, I do still feel that neither Serges nor Isoc is officially Dr. Wily  since Dr. Wily never takes a position lower than that of the Big Bad. Serges ended up building Sigma a new body and repairing Zero. Keiji Inafune never confirmed either if Serges was really Dr. Wily. Fan theories can be there and probably be left just for fun. Isoc is also subjected to this speculation I found about the character himself. There are certain clues in the game about Isoc's identity. Depending on who you use can reveal SOMETHING about this guy. If you use Zero to defeat Hi-Max (which creates the downside that you can access the Gate stage early on while it's nearly impossi...

Megaman X's Story Of Sigma's True Form As A Virus Plot

Image
It's no doubt that I think Sigma is the best Megaman franchise villain ever . I feel he's more developed than all the villains such as Dr. Wily (for the Classic series), the Bonnes (for the now-defunct Legends series), or any of the other villains that were conceived for any Megaman entry. Now, a plot was seems to be either forgotten or somewhat played with is the plot that his true form (that is, according to Dr. Doppler) is a computer virus.  TV Tropes has this rather interesting point about him : Dead All Along: Neither X nor Zero ever were made aware, but X4 and Word of God clued in the audience that the "Sigma" who incites war throughout the series isn't even the genuine article. Commander Sigma, the Maverick Hunter, ceased to be when he first encountered Zero, long before the series even started. His consciousness was overtaken and assimilated by the Maverick Virus, causing it to mutate into the Sigma Virus, which walked around in his body until X first de...

Megaman X5 Was Kinda Messy, That's Why I'm Glad Megaman X6 Existed

Image
It's no secret that my favorite entry of the Megaman series is the Megaman X series. Sure, classic games have been fun to play - the last three entries did start to slip down. I would really want to review Megaman X5 which was supposed to end the X series but thankfully didn't. Right now, I do feel bad towards Keiji Inafune considering Mighty No. 9 doesn't get what it takes to succeed the Megaman franchise. Now, I'd like to think about how it's a pale follow-up to X4 and why I'm actually glad X6 existed. Yes, I believe my opinion will be unpopular but I'm willing to risk it. So, I thought about what I hated about X5 . I could understand if animated cutscenes were not included presumably due to memory space. However, I hate those "You just can't skip it!" cutscenes which had you press the X button A LOT and I mean A LOT. It was irritating having to pass through them AGAIN AND AGAIN. Okay, I could understand that it can't be helped dur...

Megaman Legacy Collection Is Getting Revenge On The NES Megaman Games?

Image
It's no secret that I'm a Megaman fan. I remembered having the Rockman games on the NES (3, 5, and 6) and later played most of the other games on the PS2's Megaman Anniversary Collection where an easy mode made the brutal difficulty simpler for revenge. Well, there's also the Megaman Legacy Collection which contains the first six games on the NES along with a series of challenges. So, what's up with this game? You can consider the game is somewhat of a revenge game in a way. I remembered how earlier Megaman NES games were known for their extreme difficulty. Who can remember the irritating vehicle rides in Gutsman's stage or the irritating laser cannons in Quickman's stage? While the easy mode (or rookie mode for Megaman X Legacy Collection ) is virtually absent for Megaman Legacy Collection but there's one cool new feature. Remember how you wanted to save at the exact spot? Well, there's that trick where you hit the center pad of the PS4's con...

I Just Played Megaman 11

Image
Megaman 11 was released last September 6, 2018 and maybe I'm glad I didn't get the failed Mighty No. 9 . but in a sense, Mighty No. 9 did save the Megaman franchise huh? The game itself isn't really much, it would be like a low-budget fun game like the Dragon Quest Heroes series. Now, it's time to consider the game itself to what it really is. It was meant to celebrate the franchise' long-run while not so many Megaman games were released, right? The story itself introduces the double gear system. I was expecting some grand final battle but there was none. Until now, Capcom has never released an official word. Neither did its former employee Keiji Inafune. So, that's where I get disappointed is that the game itself is not a grand finale but rather some "just another entry". However, it does show the difference between Dr. Light and Dr. Wily. Dr. Wily has been way too focused on his selfish ambitions while Dr. Light isn't. I'm just thinking ...

Unpopular Opinion: Megaman 6 Is Underappreciated

Image
I remembered writing about how I think Megaman X6 is just unfairly maligned . Now, I think that Megaman 6 shares a near-similar pattern with Megaman X6 in that area. Megaman X6 is known for being notoriously difficult but I'd pick that game over the overrated Megaman 2 any day. Now, I'd like to defend the overshadowed NES classic which was unfortunately released too late. That is remember Capcom already released the first Megaman X game during the same year! One was for the dying NES and the other was for the emerging Super NES. I've played this game over the NES and later replayed it over in the Megaman Legacy Collection for the PS2. I may be a bigger fan of the Megaman X series over Classic Megaman but I don't want to dismiss this one. The game was apparently meant to end the Classic series that was until Megaman 7 was released after Megaman X3. The series simply had "to be continued" written at the end of the credits suggesting it wasn't the end. D...

Why I Think Megaman X7 Is Fairly Maligned

Image
I did previously write why I think Megaman X6 is just unfairly maligned . Now, I think I'd write why I think Megaman X7 deserves all the flak it gets. I would admit that I do have a mix of popular and unpopular opinions. Why do I consider it to be really a very bad game? I decided to try and get some of the trophies for Megaman X Legacy Collection 2. Difficult can be fun - that's why I still think X6 is so unfairly maligned! Megaman 2 still has a lot of fans due to its challenge level. Megaman X7 can probably enter into the zone of "It's so difficult to the point it's more annoying than challenging!" It's safe to say I'd probably still pick Megaman 2 or Megaman X3 over this game. We could always start with the gameplay. Seriously, what's wrong with it? It doesn't take a gaming expert to find out. If you've played a series of Megaman games before it then you might relate to the frustration. The game itself really worsens almost everything ...

Unpopular Opinion: Megaman X6 Is UNFAIRLY Maligned

Image
I really hate to think of how Megaman X6 happens to be unfairly maligned. Maybe,  Megaman X7  is too though I happen to be one of the most passionate critics against it. Why do I think Megaman X6 is unfairly maligned? It's because after playing the game once or twice - it really isn't as HORRIBLE as some may think it is. I've played through all of the mainstream Megaman X games for the console (X1 to X8) and I could say X6 may not be the best but it's definitely NOT the worst! Its American import is kinda lazy if you ask me. Why aren't the Japanese voices removed? Then again, I'm not complaining because I get to hear better voices. There's also some erroneous spelling such as "overwrite" is written as "overwright". The game itself presents to be very hard. You can also miss a lot of rescuable Reploids if you're not fast enough. The game itself can be a challenge. Sometimes, you just need to punch in that Ultimate Armor code to he...

Ranking My Favorite Megaman Games According To Which I've Played

Image
Megaman is one series that I was obsessed with in my late tens and early teens. Then I thought that I do still have an obsession with Megaman (to a certain extent) but not as far as to "must have every Megaman item and game" -- I just want to gather all the favorites that I played in the NES, PSX and PS2 games. Note that I won't be ranking them according to collections such as Anniversary Collection and Legacy Collection and neither will handhelds be mentioned here since I have NO handheld systems. Games like Megaman NAVI and Megaman Star Force won't be included. Spin-off games like Megaman Legends 2, Megaman Legends and Misadventures of Tron Bonne will be included. But I'd actually rank them by series as to avoid confusion but I'd actually also rank the series ACCORDING to my preferences. This won't cover up an entire list either and I still am getting hesitant to get Megaman 11 and play Megaman 9 and 10 too... I. Megaman X series -- my favorite X s...
