I thought of the many times that some say that Sabertooth could be Wolverine's estranged father though it wasn't implemented. In the X-Men cinematic universe, I thought about it that while I don't like the Cinematic Universe now due to the dumb retcons (and I wish Marvel will restore Scarlet Witch's and Quicksilver's parentage to Magneto by revealing that the current glitch is a result of the House of M and NOT that stupid retcon they're in). But here's my ideal retcon to how I'd actually write Wolverine and Sabertoth as family -- as half-brothers.
So what's my own story? Sabertooth was formerly Dog Logan but later took the name Victor Creed to hide himself. Wolverine is still the son of Thomas Logan and Elizabeth Howlett via an illicit affair. Dog Logan is the son of Thomas and his wife. This illicit affair causes trouble especially when Sabertooth is Wolverine's older half-brother on the father side. This would create a rivalry especially when Wolverine can't accept that Thomas is his real father. This would create a lot of possible chaotic family ties which would explain why some of Wolverine's children are villains -- they take it after their uncles and cousins.
Both half-siblings go out into the world scattering their seeds. So my planned idea is that Sabertooth had an affair with Mystique that lasts quite long. My idea is that I won't make Azazel as the father of Nightcrawler (which was a 2001 retcon) but it would still be Sabertooth. Sabertooth has a relationship with Mystique which gave birth to one human son (Graydon Creed) and one mutant son (Nightcrawler). After all, early depictions of Nightcrawler show that there's really a resemblance between him and Sabertooth. Mystique cuckolded her husband of convenience Baron Wagner with Sabertooth who's still unaware of their normal human son Graydon. Later, Mystique gives birth to a furry mutant baby in Nightcrawler -- which they would discover that Sabertooth (who would probably work as a housekeeper like his father before him) had an illicit affair with Mystique. This causes some painful decisions for Mystique.
Want to make it more complicated? In my own way of writing it, Wolverine would actually be the biological father of X-23 and not merely a DNA donor. Wolverine would have an illicit affair with a Hydra scientist named Deborah Risman who confesses that their affair was meant to produce a Wolverine clone. Since a clone was no longer feasible then why not get a natural child? Wolverine would discover that X-23 is his daughter causing some issues. Not to mention, Wolverine would discover any possible children he had considering he's been sleeping around. Then he discovers his complicated family tree or two, he hides from everyone that Sabertooth is his paternal half-brother.
Another possible conflict that could escalate is if Graydon Creed's dirty laundry is exposed -- not only is his father a mutant but he also has a mutant mother, a mutant full brother and a mutant half-uncle or he's also got a much younger mutant half-cousin in X-23. Hmmm talk about the stupidity of the human-mutant war because mutants are humans too -- in short, mutants are still capable of having normal children because many of them came from human parents. Hmmm talk about how Graydon himself would be facing well his half-uncle Wolverine or how Nightcrawler would later have to come in terms between a half-uncle (Wolverine) and his villainous parents (Sabertooth and Mystique). But all the human ascendants such as having a normal human grandfather, a normal human grandmother (Sabertooth's mother) and others would help explain why Graydon is a normal human born from two mutant human parents.
