I've Just Finished Dimension Soldier Spielban

Well, I'm finally done with Spielban and it's one of those days when Metal Hero was still around. After the success of Juspion -- we have Spielban as its successor. It was trying to modify some stuff from the Space Sheriff series while being its own continuity. One good example is how Diana (and later Helen) were given their own transformation suits in order to assist the hero in his tasks. They were trying to do whatever they could to stop Wahrer or Waller (take your pick) from taking over the Earth's water supply.

I wanted to give my thoughts on the Waller Empire and WTF really happened. What wasn't too surprising was that Waller-Sama was nothing more than an imagined concept. It's almost like the Org Master from Gaoranger -- a figurehead that never existed and used by the actual ruler as some kind of manipulation tool. Pandora herself created the concept of Waller to control her followers one way or another -- though her own cruelty would cause them to rebel. While Bandora may be more cruel than Rita Repulsa -- I think Pandora herself is more cruel than Bandora! Bandora cared about her subordinates while Pandora treated them like garbage.

There's some timeline confusion. So why was Emperor Guillotine a homeless bum in the year 23rd century? He was called to that time so that would make Pandora his great (dunno how many greats) grandmother. Emperor Guillotine was one ruthless adversary acted by half-Japanese actor Mickey Curtis. He was asked to destroy Spielban which he complied. However, the finale also wants to ask this question -- just how could events take place without the time travel?

Perhaps the biggest confusion is that when did the Waller Empire exist anyway? Professor Ben's memory (after he was reverted back to human form) revealed that Waller invaded their home and forcibly turned him into Dr. Bio and forced his daughter Helen to fight for the empire. So how did Emperor Guillotine exist in the first place? I have my theory is that shortly after the disaster -- Waller ended up in the year 2000 and affected the flow of history. However, for some reason, Pandora ended up having who could be her descendant Emperor Guillotine. Who Pandora's mate was or maybe she simply gave birth without a father is not explained. All that's known is that Emperor Guillotine is a descendant of the Waller Empire.

So what's the purpose that Waller kept grabbing water? It turns out that Pandora's true form was some kind of starfish alien. She needed that much water though with her cruelty -- it's highly possible she kept wasting water so she had to go back on time. So how did Clin (which was also Earth) become a desolate planet? I guess climate change for 10,000 years did it plus Pandora getting all the water. So she decided to back to Earth in the past to ensure a different Clin would come out. It's really some kind of weird thing that head writer Shozo Uehara (who also wrote much of the Space Sheriff Trilogy) wanted audiences to leave it to their imaginations.

What was also interesting was that the Reset Button here wasn't exactly much of a Reset Button. Defeating Waller 10,000 years in the past caused a timeline shift. The evidence was that the Waller Fortress can be seen still there in ruins after 10,000 years in Clin. So what happened to the dam area? Where's all the water? Honestly, are the people of Clin now responsible for the change of environment? I always wanted to assume that the writers just didn't have much time or what to create a better Clin. I kind of wanted to see a futuristic dam in that place with Wahrer destroyed. The main characters did keep their memories of the show -- all the while their parents no longer had them. Yup, I thought that this is sort of a weird way to end a show. Fortunately, the people behind Kamen Rider Build did analyze how to do a Reset Button -- unlike what those idiot producers did to Ryuki. I mean, Ryuki's Reset Button could've been tolerated only if everyone kept their memories... sigh!

Meanwhile, this picture by Shogo B'Stard really shows another thing. My dislike for VR Troopers has intensified -- as if my hatred for the American Masked Rider (and even Mr. Krabs considers it an Old Shame of his) or should I still call it Mashed Rider wasn't enough! I still feel that I find it WTF to why VR Troopers' first season was a success. Second season though -- well it's understandable where it went. The show had no direction. They could have started writing off everyone in the second season. Seeing the whole death of General Deathzero made me think WTF why didn't we see J.B. do that in VR Troopers? Also, the finale scene was used as a regular episode in VR Troopers. Personally, I thought VR Troopers should have just focused on wrapping things up. But like Mighty Morphin' up to Power Rangers Turbo -- it doesn't get a proper wrap-up.

Anyway, I'm already done watching Spielban. Hopefully, I can watch more episodes of Space Sheriff Sharivan soon. But again, I'm already feeling like I'm racing against time itself. Meanwhile, I'm still mixed about not seeing it badly dubbed in the 90s -- half of me is still grateful while the other half is still quite mad with "My wrath is about to explode." mode towards VR Troopers. But again, I can just ignore VR Troopers (and it's been more fun skipping American localized versions of Japanese Toku) and enjoy the source material. It's been more fun ignoring them anyway! Hehehehe!
