Making Durant's Return More Vicious And Believable

Darkman was a movie that probably didn't need a sequel or it did. Perhaps one notorious example of a bad sequel is actually Darkman II: Return of Durant or is it? I think it had potential but as a direct to home video sequel -- it just is typically is. Remember when Disney didn't give sequels in the movies and sent them straight at home? I find it the same way that The Return of Jafar just lacks the charm of the budget Aladdin film or Lion King II: Simba's Pride may be good it just can't beat The Lion King in any shape or form. The same can be true for this movie where Durant returns as the main antagonist.

Remember how Durant was the secondary antagonist for the first film? He was a sadistic mob boss hired by Louis Strack Jr. to get the Bellasarious memorandum. He's the very reason why Peyton Westlake went from a mild-mannered scientist into the ever vengefully crazy Darkman. He's one sadistic MOFO you don't want to mess with this guy. Although he appears to be your every day decent person -- he actually leads the biggest gang in the city. He also does have a weird habit of amputating his victims and keeping those parts as trophies -- don't they ever decay? He was last seen having been BLOWN UP in a helicopter. Yet, he came out fully intact with just a scar. How in the world did he survive? It's just brain-numbingly crazy that somehow, it's not even excusable, even if the events were just fiction.

What's my idea for the movie? The Darkman "sequel" comics did turn Durant into a cyborg. How his head still remained intact is just crazy. I think maybe they could do a bit of Robocop 2 thing where they could transfer Durant's brain into a cyborg body. Maybe, they could have turned him into a cyborg and give him some artificial skin in the process. Turn Durant into a cyborg. I guess all these stuff will make his return a little more believable than just having survived that helicopter crash without an answer. Have some cyberneticists that made Skip's cyborg leg make a whole new body for Durant. Durant returning as a dangerous cyborg would be a real threat for Darkman. Darkman would later be shocked to find out that the man who he hates more than Strack is still out there. But Darkman has no idea until hints such as corpses with a missing finger are found everywhere.

I think a possible conversation Darkman could have is, "I saw Durant die before my eyes! How could he stil be alive?" Maybe, as Darkman infiltrates, he discovers Durant has become a cyborg of sorts like in the Marvel Comics "sequel" for Darkman. Along the way, Durant will try to kill anyone who'd disclose his cyborg identity. Only this time, he threatens to rip off a whole arm or a leg if need be. It might be what Dr. David Brinkman can use -- have Durant show off his new strength by literally ripping an arm and a leg from the said person. This new cybernized form of Durant starts to show less and less signs of human emotion. He did kill one of his own henchmen in the second film too with that particle blaster.

I think Durant's death can be arranged more viciously. Maybe have Darkman finally have a bigger battle. Durant's secret is exposed and he's wanted Dead or Alive. I think the whole part would be better if Darkman managed to override Durant's cybernetics. Have Darkman implant a bomb in Durant. Durant would try to escape with only his head (like the comics) and have Darkman literally squash it like a bug.
