In the X-Force comics, Stryfe took the Legacy Virus and decided to use it to create a human-mutant war. The trick was to give Gordon Lefferts, an assistant of Mr. Sinister, an empty canister. The promise was 2,000 years worth of the Summers' genetic material. The canister wasn't empty either as it contained the Legacy Virus. The first symptom that Gordon had was a cough. Those who got the Legacy Virus have fever, chills, fatigue, and skin lesions. Doesn't COVID-19 have similar symptoms too? Gordon later died and was given a burial by his boss Mr. Sinister.
Why do I want to compare the COVID-19 to the Legacy Virus? It's because of incidents that happened to Asian Americans. Yes, you've got Asian Americans treated as outcasts after the spread of COVID-19 because the disease was first identified in Wuhan China. The big irony is that many of the frontliners are Asians yet they are also the most discriminated against during the Legacy Virus crisis. It's just like the X-Men are outcasts even if they've been fighting off many villains and not just the Brotherhood of Mutants. The comparison of the Legacy Virus to HIV/AIDS is not as close. The Legacy Virus is airborne. COVID-19 is also airborne like the Legacy Virus. In the comics, the Legacy Virus eventually mutated after it entered Infectia's body. Infectia wanted to see the night sky before she died and ended up releasing the third strain that affected baseline humans. I wonder are the anti-Asian wackos in the US aware that COVID-19 can affect people of any kind?
The similarity of racism may remind those who follow Saban's X-Men cartoons in the "Time Fugitives" arc. Jubilee was an Asian American and she was also falsely accused of carrying the plague. A deadly virus started to break out hurting both humans and mutants. The virus was secretly manufactured by Apocalypse who wanted to create a war between humans and mutants. Apocalypse secretly fooled Graydon into a dangerous campaign that would eventually start a war. Apocalypse's strategy was always to start wars to start a better one from the ashes. The two-parter had mutants blamed but they were innocent. Some were infected and got better. The discrimination against mutants there is no different than the Asians blamed. Asians were blamed for COVID-19 but they were innocent.
At this point, it requires real cooperation to fight off the Legacy Virus. The cure for the Legacy Virus was found but the hostile attitude of some people remains the same. There are some like Senator Robert Kelly who eventually changed for the better. Others are like Graydon who would still remain in the same vicious cycle of hatred. It would be important to do our part as the real-life Legacy Virus is still going on.
