Mortal Kombat X truly had a really interesting comic book series. Sadly, after a series of interesting episodes - we just need to REALLY accept that some things were not meant to be completed, right? What truly was an exciting plot dangler was when Goro sought the power of Onaga. If you remember, Kotal Kahn actually cut off Goro's arms (which I believe is rumor become reality since some say Goro's arms were ripped off in a non-existent comics). Goro gets eliminated from the competition due to his injuries and Sheeva becomes the new Shokan queen instead. So, Goro meets Daegon. In the original timeline - Onaga had NOTHING to do with the Red Dragon. Here, Daegon is a servant of Onaga when it was not used in MK Armageddon.
You can consider this video from History Behind the Warrior which DC Comics writer Shawn Kittelson talks about what could've happened. I find this very interesting and why this NEVER happened is still a mystery to me. It's revealed that Goro is destined to become Onaga's vessel. In MK Deception we have it where Reptile became Onaga's temporary vessel until he was ultimately defeated. In MKX it would be interesting to see Onaga use Goro as a vessel. A four-armed Onaga? Well, that would be cool. Goro would realize that the Faustian pact with Onaga would have required a price.
MK11 eventually has some intros. Noob Saibot mentions Sheeva was supposed to become Onaga's bride. One of Sheeva's intros mentions that Goro became Onaga's vessel and now he rots to Baraka. Why weren't these put into comic book form? It would be interesting to see Onaga finally possessing Goro and becoming a four-armed version of himself. Or two, my own idea would be a bit more far-fetched. I would really warn you it's going to be bonkers so stay clear if you don't want to hear it or stay if you want to hear it.
My own version would have Goro tasked to get Kotal Kahn without arms to prove himself. Goro baits Kotal whom Onaga desires as a vessel. The Red Dragon brings Kotal to the Dragon King's egg. The joke here is because Kotal looks like Ogre from Tekken 3 except he's NOT a bad guy. Kotal is more on the neutral side seeking only what's best for Outworld. Goro gets his revenge by bringing Kotal to the place where the Great Dragon Egg resides. Onaga's soul enters into Kotal's body allowing the Dragon King to return. The joke is also on the fact that Onaga bears certain resemblances to True Ogre from Tekken 3. Goro is given his arms back but he serves Onaga in return. Goro then returns to the Shokan to temporarily take over and rallies the Shokan to follow their own new master. This would lead to a civil war where Kotal struggles to free himself of Onaga. Eventually, I'd probably have it where Goro dies a warrior's death in leading Onaga's army. The Shokan civil war may also be a good plot point to finally bring Goro to his end. Eventually, Kotal manages to get rid of Onaga within him returning the monarch's dark spirit to Hell after the battle.
