Back then before Street Fighter fell down to a certain extent (such as with what happened with Street Fighter V which I wonder if I'll still get it) - there was a time Capcom released better. The Street Fighter Alpha series came and the final installment was the third game. The third game introduced a notoriously powerful version of General M. Bison (or General Vega) as the final boss. It wouldn't be your typical Bison battle as he had a UNIQUE fighting style not selectable. The game cemented his status as a final boss character with SNK stats.
Granted, I only played the console version of Street Fighter Alpha 3 way back with the first Playstation. Personally. it was my favorite of the series and the Street Fighter Alpha Anthology version slightly falls down. This version of Bison is so DAMN TOUGH that you'd probably cry a lot. What made the boss fight frustrating (for the arcade) is that once you're defeated - you really can't continue. Woah, talk about taking SNK Boss stats to a whole new level. The home console versions gave you unlimited continues. Not the arcade or the port in Street Fighter Alpha Anthology. Once you were defeated - you really STARTED ALL OVER AGAIN. Was it done on purpose to avoid too many people from waiting at the arcade? Was it done on purpose because Capcom wanted a challenge? I ended up playing Street Fighter Alpha 2 more in the anthology for that reason.
Street Fighter Alpha 3 was released in 1998. Two years later, the terror known as Bison II would appear in Street Fighter EX2 Plus for the home consoles. This time, you had a bonus mode where Bison fuses with one of his spare bodies and gains an unlimited meter. Interestingly, Bison II's Ultimate Psycho Crusher became a Level 3-only super in this game without otherwise beefing the normal Bison up. This version of Bison II had an INFINITE METER which made him incredibly hard to defeat. You only had one shot at him since he was just a BONUS BOSS.
I felt the terror Bison in his upgraded forms is beyond measure. After all, he's the BAD GUY of Street Fighter for most of the games. He's the head of Shadaloo, he manipulated Sagat into becoming one of his henchmen, he was responsible for many deaths which include Chun Li's father BEFORE the games even started, and he's even more dishonorable than Gill. Gill may be a villain but he treated his subjects well. Bison is a truly bad boss you wouldn't want to work with. At least, Gill still had humanity's salvation in mind even if he's a villain. Bison? I guess this guy is purely chaotic evil that his upgraded forms make him such a terror.
