Janperson 29-30 is yet another intense arc. This is written by Mutsumi Nakano who was also responsible for Exceedraft episodes 18, 24, and 37. He was also the writer of Janperson episode 14 to which was about U2 and Dollman. This two-parter is another Neo-Guild episode that is rather intense. Not so many people that George Makabe is human, maybe except for a few who knew about his human past. We have Makabe's quest for power and two children's quest for revenge. They called the machine Jesus-End which is rather ironic given the vengeful character of the two children, Koji and Masashi.
This episode has Makabe wanting more power. The new machine is meant to put an end to all robots. This pretty much puts Janperson and Gun Gibson as the two try to work with each other. This episode features Koji and Masashi as vengeful children who lost their father to Neo-Guild. A robot named Carman is created in their father's place. Makabe decides to manipulate Gun Gibson for some ulterior motives not revealed until the secon.d
It's noteworthy how human prejudice can be. Kaoru obviously regrets wanting Janperson to destroy Modoki episodes ago. This episode has Kaoru getting upset that robots with feelings are being scrapped by two extremists. Kaoru has the guts to talk about organ trafficking. This episode presents the dilemma as Janperson is willing to die to help humanity restart over.
The real aim of Makabe is to get the Jesus-End device. Makabe has a God Complex going on as evidenced in several episodes. Both Koji and Masaki are also unaware that Makabe is a human with a few cybernetic implants. Makabe's already obviously human. I felt it was weird Makabe used the trope It's Actually a Doombot to evade death. Makabe did earlier send a robot duplicate of himself to try and get the Tree of Life plant. Makabe later destroyed his robotic duplicate.
This episode has Janperson willing to achieve any moment of peace even to die to achieve it. Gun Gison later agrees. Goerge Makabe plans to use the Jesus-End device to rule over robotkind. We know how Makabe craves for power. Janperson is willing to get the device operational to put an end to Neo-Guild for good. However, Janperson's kindness actually reaches out the two boys drowned in revenge.
It was something when Koji decides to destroy the device. It doesn't even deserve its name since it was punishing the guilty along with the innocent. Makabe loses some of his elite robots like Silverella and Carman. The boys end up repenting of their vengeful ways. This two-parter truly gave some characterization for Janperson.
