Mortal Kombat's Tarkat Disease Is Straight Out Of Resident Evil

I guess Mortal Kombat hasn't really ceased getting inspiration from the rival franchises huh? If Tekken has been taking inspiration from Street Fighter then so has Mortal Kombat. Just think of how Tekken created Asuka as a Sakura Expy and Lili as a Karin Expy. Both Tekken and Mortal Kombat have blatantly made references to the Enter the Dragon movie such as how Heihachi and Shang Tsung are obviously based on Han. Mortal Kombat even tried to copy (and modify) certain gameplay mechanics from the Marvel vs. Capcom series. Mortal Kombat 1 copied the Special Partner concept from Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes and gave it some modification. Well, if that wasn't enough we're getting a blatant Reisdent Evil-inspired plot!

In both timelines from the original timeline to the second timeline - the Tarkatans were always a separate race. However, with some of Lord Liu Kang's plans, Tarkat has become a disease instead and those afflicted are called Tarkatans. The people soon mutate and they lose their minds eventually. It's highly contagious. It really almost resembles Resident Evil's G-Virus which mutates people into mindless zombies. The corpses reanimate and the person is GOOD AS DEAD when they finally succumb to the disease.

The new timeline has a lot of bizarre reincarnations. I really dislike the idea that Kuai Liang has become the Scorpion in this timeline. Heck, Hanzo Hasashi is revealed to have been reincarnated into an orphan! Baraka was reincarnated as a merchant turned Tarkatan. Baraka lost his wife and children. Mileena is reincarnated as Kitana's twin sister. Later, Kitana is infected with Tarkat causing her to lose control. The only way for Mileena to stop becoming a Tarkatan is through a serum extracted from Baraka's marrow.
