Golion Episodes 14-15: Sincline's Introductory Arc

For the past few episodes -- it seems the Galrans were mostly For the Evulz. However, episodes 14-16 give us an idea of what may be the Golion's greatest threat. Prince Sincline (Lotor) is introduced in episode 14 as the "Crown Prince of Hell". The Galran Royalty is pretty much For the Evulz. I wonder where the citizens of Planet Galra are?! Voltes V showed us the Boazanian citizenry. Daimos showed us the Baam-Seijin citizenry. Dairugger XV showed us the Galveston citizenry. I wonder why we don't see much of Galra except for the royalty? However, I'll just pretend that some non-human prisoners are critics of Emperor Daibazaal's tyrannical rule.

While watching Lion Voltron -- I simply can't help but make Lotor my favorite villain. Lotor had more depth than King Zarkon. I even hoped that Lotor would one day succeed in overthrowing Zarkon. I even imagined myself as Lotor. Lotor was actually more dangerous than any of the people on Planet Doom. In Golion -- Sincline would show signs of being THAT DANGEROUS. However, Sincline would also show some dimensions that most of Galra didn't have.

Sincline's debut also meant Sadak's end. Sadak was trying to clear his name to Daibazaal. However, Sadak's lack of preparedness meant his last Sidenote: It's also the first time the "Golion Sanka" instrumental is played -- COOL MUSIC!. After all, Sadak returned with barely half his troops. Daibazaal doesn't order Sadak to be banished. Instead, Daibazaal wants to sentence Sadak to death. Taking responsibility might mean Sadak should COMMIT HARA KIRI. This is a Japanese show after all. Sadak is being hurt one way or another -- presumably to force him to commit hara kiri. Daibazaal plans to kill Sadak himself. However, Sincline arrives with some treasures from the other parts of the Galaxy. Sincline has a victorious campaign -- something that makes him a dangerous foe. Sincline has another idea -- turn Sadak to become a Beast Fighter and defeat Golion!

Sincline can be a complicated character -- unlike the others. There are times Sincline chooses to use underhanded tactics. However, Sincline would choose to force Sadak to fight Golion as a Beast Fighter. Sincline challenges Akira to a one-on-one duel. Sincline's rivalry with Akira would mirror previous Super Robot Anime rivalries. One of them may be Kenichi vs. Heinel in Voltes V. However, Sincline is a Corrupted Character Copy of Heinel. Sincline was raised to be For the Evulz. However, Sincline seems to have some sense of honor in a way. Sincline may play dirty but he also tends to play with, "I'm the only one allowed to defeat you!" card at Akira. While Heinel gets better -- Sincline is true to his mission as a For the Evulz character. It's that twisted sense of honor that may make Sincline more interesting.

Sincline can be seen as a womanizer. Sincline finds Fala to be attractive. Sincline exaggerates that Fala is more beautiful than any woman he's seen. Sincline is later shown to have a harem of women who are better-looking than Fala! Why does Sincline obsess over Fala? Sincline even says she's such a beauty. I wonder if Sincline only excuses Fala's beauty as an excuse since he's a hunter? Sincline seeks some thrills and he hasn't been challenged for a long time. Sincline hatches more dangerous plans. However, Sincline's Achilles Heel is his obsession with Fala. Sincline's plan to hold Altea hostage could've succeeded IF he wasn't too obsessed with Fala.

It gets interesting because Takashi is mentioned again. Fala tries to pilot the Black Lion -- only to find out it wasn't for her. Fala also nearly surrenders to Sincline. Sincline is shown to be a sexist by viewing Fala as an amusement. What I find strange is that Sincline wants Fala when she's too pure for him. Sincline can have any beautiful woman with a character as bad as his! It's probably all about hunting. Later episodes would explain Sincline's obsession -- but it seems more rooted in a Freudian Excuse than anything else!
