I'd Say "Marvel VS. Capcom 2" Was Overhyped After Replaying "Marvel VS. Capcom" In Arcade-Perfect Translation

I bought Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection -- the game that brought the 1990s (and Marvel vs. Capcom 2: New Age of Super Heroes) in one disc. After all, it's already the eighth-ninth-generation console. That means there's more power than the fifth-generation consoles that forced the creation of the EX Edition of X-Men vs. Street Fighter up to Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes. I played both games to try and get the trophies. I could conclude that Marvel vs. Capcom 2 was pure hype compared to Marvel vs. Capcom

Marvel vs. Capcom 2 came out in the early 2000s. It's easy to get hyped because almost all the characters from the Marvel vs. Capcom series are there. Norimaro wasn't added which wasn't a big loss either. Finally, I could play Psylocke again (who was my main in Marvel Super Heroes). I see all the characters from the crossover series as well. 3 vs. 3 was definitely something new. It was exciting to see what teams one could form. In my case, I was always thinking about beam type Super Moves. My favorite tag team composed of Cable, Megaman, and Cyclops. Sometimes, it was Cable, War Machine, and Iron Man. It was also frustrating when you figured out certain Assist Types would affect the Super Move that will come out. It was a craze fest. I remember wanting a PS2 so I could play the game at home.

I played Mortal Kombat (2011) during the PS3 days. Sorry for the deviation of the topic. It's because Mortal Kombat (2011) had its Tag Team mode. I realized how focused 2 vs. 2 was while playing Liu Kang and Kung Lao in Tag Team mode. It made me realize that Marvel vs. Capcom's 2 vs. 2 and not-so-huge roster gave more focus. Sure, I wasn't a fan of the Special Partner gig -- something that probably inspired the Kameo Fighter in Mortal Kombat 1. However, it was more focused when you just two characters and fought against a team made up of two characters.

Onslaught was practically the better boss than the Capcom OG boss Abyss. Please don't confuse MVC Abyss with Abyss from Marvel Comics! So what if Abyss has three forms and Onslaught as two? There are times quality beats quantity. Sure, I miss the time when Onslaught was easier in Marvel vs. Capcom EX Edition. However, I finally found real joy in beating Onslaught at home with a near-arcade-perfect translation. Onslaught having only two forms was way better Abyss' three forms. I found Abyss annoying in the long run. It was fun to use Cable and spam it on Abyss. However, Abyss ends up becoming tedious due to having to beat all three forms. Sure, one can attack the giant ball in his third form. The second form can be more annoying than a real challenge.

Sure, it was difficult fighting Onslaught due to his irritating moves. It made me practice Chain Combos all the more. The second form means timing to hit his head, moving away, and the like. I still find it more tolerable than the longwinded fights against Abyss. Doing a crazy thing with the Quick Save state was my best option to get the trophy. I could easily enjoy grinding during X-Men vs. Street Fighter up to Marvel vs. Capcom. However, Marvel vs. Capcom 2 is really a grindfest which can affect real life. I was in college when I had Marvel vs. Capcom 2. I spent a bit of my semestral break unlocking the hidden characters. Fortunately, easy select was available in Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection

Overall, I'd play Marvel vs. Capcom over the second game. The second game was just hype and more hype. I want better gameplay and not just hype. Hype isn't the best indicator if ever.
