Ferra/Torr And Possible Inspirations?

When I think of Ferra/Torr the whole duo is not anything so new but it is among the list of unusual playable characters.  You might consider some past video game characters or two, Master and Blaster from the Mad Max movie.  For me, the duo reminds me of Luna and Amok in the Thundercats series considering Ferra is a female and Torr is a male. Chang is a playable character in King of Fighters where he had his tiny partner Choi who he can use as an assist partner in Capcom vs. SNK 2 though back then, Choi was just a spectator.  The concept was also used in Marvel vs. Capcom where Megaman had Rush all the time in battle.  Though the whole similarity is with Chang and Choi since Choi was the the brain, Chang was the brute force and main player and the same can be said for Ferra/Torr.  Torr is the main player while Ferra rides on his back, she's not even killed during the time fatalities are done on the opponents.

The Ogre/True Ogre and Onaga/Kotal Kahn Similarities!

Knowing Ed Boon is a Tekken fan, it can be seen how Mortal Kombat developed throughout the years. Just think of how Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance entered into the 3D Plane like Tekken did. But the most blatant example of Ed Boon's favoritism for Tekken was in Mortal Kombat Deception with Onaga. You might remember Onaga in Mortal Kombat Deception looked like... True Ogre. In Deception, Onaga had some moves similar to True Ogre like the flame breathe or both could fly. Ed Boon's favoritism of Tekken didn't really stop with the PS2... you might as well observe how Sonya Blade in Mortal Kombat (2011) looks more like Nina Williams. Or in Mortal Kombat vs. DC, notice how every character has a one button per limb attack system... which is taken from TEKKEN itself. When I was discussing with my friends, all they said was, "Woah he looks like True Ogre!"

The One Being in Mortal Kombat and Pangu

Mortal Kombat had the enigmatic character known as "The One Being" who was first mentioned in Mortal Kombat Deception. Although he was mentioned, he never became a full character and remained a background character like Jerrod (Sindel's husband and Kitana's biological father), King Gorbak (Goro's father) and the Elder Gods. In Taoist cosmology, there is the first conscious being known as Pangu. In the ancient Chinese creation myths, Pangu was born from a giant cosmic egg. He saw the importance of splitting the Earth from the Sky. Later, his decayed body soon formed the Universe itself. The creation of the Universe and all the realms was a result of Pangu's death after 18,000 years. Out from his body were born the realms. Doesn't that sound like the One Being in Mortal Kombat?

How I Felt Janperson Kept The Robocop Movies Spirit Better Than Jiban

I do acknowledge that Robocop came first before Jiban and Janperson, one can still think of how Robocop's spirit was kept in both shows. I'd discuss about Jiban which came in 1989 and Janperson which came in 1994. First, let's discuss Mobile Cop Jiban. I remembered how IBC-13 called him as the "Japanese Robocop" which it was partially right. The story of Jiban had its hero Naoto Tamura a rookie cop who got killed by the Biorons. Naoto Tamura like Alex Murphy gets revived as a cyborg by Dr. Kenzo Igarashi known as Mobile Cop Jiban. Unlike Robocop, he could actually revert back to his original identity and only a few people know the truth that he's really the cyborg hero known as Jiban. Unlike Robocop, the sci-fi element was taken to a whole new level. Jiban only fought one organization known as the Biorons, which misused biotechnology for their selfish means. Its leader Dr. Giba was planning to take over Japan with his Bioron monsters. However there was

My Speculation Why Goro is DLC Only In Mortal Kombat X!

Goro is back and he's playable (via download) in Mortal Kombat X!  Now some people are saying, "Ed Boon caught Corporate Commander's disease!" when he made Goro DLC only.  Back in Mortal Kombat (2011), Goro was playable in Level 150 of the Challenge Tower and he can't jump and he was an incomplete character... but he was very hugely damaging.  Now let's go back to some Goro gameplay in the past. Now do you remember Mortal Kombat Trilogy when you could play as Goro in Playstation 1/Sega Saturn/PC versions?  Goro was super cheap as a character but not as cheap as Kintaro (who can teleport stomp) while he didn't but he did render huge damage.  Motaro and Shao Kahn were also playable with super huge damage.  However in Mortal Kombat 4/Gold, Goro was basically powered down that while he was still a tough opponent, he wasn't all that tough nor were his damage points that big.  He wasn't all that difficult to defeat in Armageddon neither was his damage

That One Factor From Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers That I Like Over Zyuranger: It's Amy Jo Johnson As Kimberly!

So it's no secret that I like Zyuranger over MMPR but I do have that one factor that I really consider as Zyuranger's positive edge against Zyuranger.  Now as said, there's no perfect show and I know Zyuranger has better writing and almost everything is better... now moving on.  It's all about Kimberly herself as that one positive edge that Zyuranger has over Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers.  This is my OPINION only so feel free to disagree with me but I'm just trying to be as open-minded in the right way as I need to. So where do I begin?  Again, I saw MMPR first before Zyuranger.  Again, beware of my extreme favoritism and all that can show up one way or another.  So let's begin shall we? During the time I saw Zyuranger, I was at first filled with some biases towards Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers.  I soon started to say blah blah stuff that a purist would say.  But I just had to be honest with myself when it came to Zyuranger.  True I find most of

Mileena's Altered Face in Mortal Kombat X!

So in both her previous life and her next life, Mileena was born as the clone of Kitana laced with Tarkatan blood. In her MK2 semi-canonical ending, it's revealed that Shang Tsung created her as a clone of Kitana but she was passed as Kitana's "twin".  So she reveals she has monstrous fangs and I sort of liked her design where her mouth was filled with all the sharp fangs, making me want to avoid her lest I be bitten by her sharp teeth... which made her and Baraka an ideal couple. Several times, Mileena's hideous face got revealed whenever she did a fatality that involved her mouth like her man-eater, her nail spit fatality, her MK Deception fatality where she chews the opponent's head off, her MK9 fatality where she feasts on the opponent's now severed head... it always showed she was a hideous woman.  But then... Somehow without an explanation, we get Mileena with lips which for me, some people praised it but I personally don't.  Maybe I'

A Look Through At Liu Kang's Development In Mortal Kombat

If you remembered Liu Kang from Mortal Kombat 1 , you might notice that Liu Kang is a freaking Bruce Lee tribute. Yes, Bruce Lee has been dead for a LOOOONG time but he ended up getting tributes like Liu Kang, Fei Long (Street Fighter) and Law (Tekken).  However, there was an interesting development Liu Kang got in later games that deviated from his original design. Mortal Kombat II redesigned Liu Kang in such a way that would make him a Chinese Ryu instead of a Bruce Lee tribute.  The most obvious has to be that Liu Kang himself would wear a red gi on his head like Ryu would.  In addition, Kung Lao was added as his friendly rival that while Johnny Cage would have sufficed as Ken Masters, Kung Lao takes that place.  In Shaolin Monks, both Liu Kang and Kung Lao have a Ryu/Ken relationship.  At the same time, Liu Kang and Shang Tsung would have a Ryu vs. Akuma type of rivalry. While he was temporarily killed off in Deadly Alliance (by Shang Tsung and Quan Chi), perhaps fan demand bro

Kimberly Hart of MMPR Should Have Appeared in "A Star Is Born" In Full Bikini!

In "A Star Is Born" I thought Kimberly was quite tasteful but would have been better if... Kimberly really appeared in complete bikini and not just the top in that episode.  I thought that the scene wouldn't pass TV-Y7-FV standards which I think is stupid.  After all, some cartoon hotties appeared in a bikini so why not Kimberly?  This scene would have been much better. =P I just got the stupid idea from Chisato's bikini scene in Megaranger episode 17.  Again, Japan and U.S. are pretty different aren't they?  Just me and my silly imagination.  Hehehehehe!

Why I Think X-Box One Users May Get More For Their Money With Mortal Kombat X Than The Latest Killer Instinct Game!

Back in the 90s, Killer Instinct was a real Killer for two consecutive games namely Killer Instinct 1 and Killer Instinct 2 which are now released for X-Box One, fully translated from the Arcade Games.  It has more fun mechanics than Mortal Kombat back in the past (which got overly simplistic with just HP, LP, HK, LK giving characters less distinction) and it had a lot of killer praise back then.  However the third return was a real Killer Letdown and again, just because you succeeded in the past doesn't mean you will always succeed. Remember this is just MY OPINION so you are free to disagree.  Right now, Mortal Kombat X will be released for the PS3 and the XBox 360 next month while last month, the PS4 and XBox One games were released.  Now it's time to share my opinion on to why X-Box One users may get more for their money than Killer Instinct (2013).  Now I don't have an X-Box One but I seldom end up renting one IF the game also appears in the X-Box One and I just wan

Easter Egg: Blanche Stage Brutality!

While Mortal Kombat X removed stage fatalities, yet I cannot ignore the existence of "Stage Brutalities" that one happens in the Dead Woods, another exists in the Outworld Market Place.  While it was thought of to be just another video game lie, well this is really real.   The old lady in the background can be used as an interactive element which I do feel sorry for her.  However she can be used for a stage brutality where instead of dying, she practically beats the defeated opponent with her fists!  Badass grandma!

Mortal Kombat X: Ultra Combo?!

While I started reading on how to do Brutalities, apparently if you are skilled enough, you will be able to integrate brutalities into combos.  In my case, I was thinking about the Ultra Combo from Killer Instinct.  So here, it seems like these "Ultra Combos" are pretty customized as you can see above with all the ridiculous combos you can do. Well unlike Killer Instinct's, Mortal Kombat X's "Ultra Combo" would end up with a bloody finish if you really know how to link combos and moves together.  So far, looks like Mortal Kombat X will still be more worth your money than Killer Instinct 2013 which is far more plagued with microtransactions than usual.
