I Gave "Kaiketsu Zubat" A Chance

Image
There will always be generation gaps. I doubt it that modern-day children will be too interested in super old shows. That's why I even question Hasbro's decision to reignite Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers -- since the show's already DECADES OLD. Talk what if Toei decided to reignite Himitsu Sentai Goranger -- I'd berate Toei too if it happened! I watched Kaiketsu Zubat -- a show that happened in 1977. It was that year when Hiroshi Miyauchi was both Zubat and Big One. What makes Zubat unique? It had no MOTW. Instead, it was almost like an early foreshadowing of the short-lived Rescue Police Trilogy for the now-discontinued (but NEVER forgotten) Metal Hero franchise. The short-lived series felt more like a show for an older audience (such as how it only has 32 episodes). There were reminders NOT to imitate the stunts because they're dangerous. What also WTFed me was that we see a man GUNNED DOWN at the beginning. Goro Asuka is the protagonist Ken Hayakawa's bes...

When Shredder Is Also Krang: The Utrom Shredder, Ch'rell In The 2003 "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" Series

Image
Anybody who remembers Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1987) may remember how Shredder and Krang had an uneasy alliance. Krang became Shredder's boss when they were stuck in Dimension X -- all the while Shredder was still the PERSONAL enemy of the Ninja Turtles. Some video game incarnations had Krang as the final boss over the Shredder. However, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2003) featured a more dangerous version of the Shredder -- the UTROM Shredder. Although there was no hint of Krang at that time. However, surprise or NOT, SHREDDER IS KRANG in 2003! However, the name Ch'rell was used instead of Krang! 1987 Shredder and 1987 Krang tried to get another version of Shredder. However, the end up realizing that the pink blob is FAR MORE DANGEROUS than 1987 Krang without a body. The 1987 Shredder was meant to be a typical cartoon villain -- such as the cartoon Cobra Commander in the 1980s G.I. Joe cartoon. It was a crossover between the two continuities in 2009. 1987 Krang had ...

Megaman Legends: Remembering Them Sidequests

Image
Megaman Legends is a game ahead of the fifth-generation consoles. Sure, it was limited but it's so sad Capcom abandoned this concept entirely. There was the spin-off Megaman X: Command Mission . However, I feel that Megaman Legends should've had at least one more game before it got canceled. Now, it's time to remember the time when I went on a sidequest. The sidequests could be tricky. I had to play the game several times before I discovered all of them. Depending on how one goes -- the sidequests can affect the way people will reply before Megaman Volnutt leaves Kattlelox Island. Some sidequests were only known to me either by (1) talking with friends, or (2) getting on the Internet. It reminds me of the good old days when gaming wasn't too expensive and Adobe didn't have that sh*tty subscription.  The game's sidequests can be either fun OR plain irritating. Some of them didn't affect much (such as that annoying Bomb sidequest and the Robbery Mission) while...

Cole Could've Been Better Off As An Animal Protection Officer IMHO

Image
No. 1 Sentai Gozyuger caused me to think about Power Rangers Wild Force as well. I may no longer like Power Rangers,  but there were a few series that I could still like. Wild Force had some potentially better moments . I was looking at the deleted scene where Cole Evans was supposed to become a veterinarian. It feels weird considering he was raised in the jungle. However, Cole could use his ESP to know what animals need. That might've given him a free pass in superhero logic -- since his ESP is but Plot Armor. Cole becomes a veterinarian, but that scene was DELETED. However, there's a glimpse in Alyssa Enrile's table (and she's become a teacher) of Cole becoming a vet. Was it an error or what? I could imagine how messy wrapping up can be -- to the point that writing hiccups can happen in any franchise. Some revelations can be overly random and make you go, "HUH?!" Deleting Cole's scene as a doctor might be because "It just couldn't fit into the t...

Megaman Legends: Still Remembering My Funniest Failure In The Game

Image
I confess that Megaman Legends is one series I wish hadn't gotten canceled so soon. A third game could've at least wrapped up the franchise before its cancellation. I would like to recall one of the craziest moments in my gaming history. I had Megaman Legends back in high school -- a game that I badly wanted. The game wasn't the standard Megaman game. I didn't like the idea that you had to ask Roll Caskett to switch weapons rather than be able to change weapons. Was it because of the memory space of the PSX back in the 1990s? Yes, the PSX is NOTORIOUS for its slow loading times. There are a lot of crazy moments in the game. One could talk about the sidequests where the Bonnes have a bomb threat (which I failed at it, MANY TIMES) and the hilarious Bank Robbery Mission. I'm prone to gamer rage A LOT. However, this was one gamer rage that makes me laugh at myself. The Defend City Hall mission is probably the craziest one... There was one annoying (but the same time fun...

Why I Don't Think Megaman Legends Is Part Of the Mainline Megaman Series

Image
Capcom unfortunately canned the prospective Megaman Legends 3 series (WTF) and now is making Street Fighter V just exclusive to PS4 for consoles in the current generation (again, WTF, they shouldn't have done that)... I really want to write my case why I personally don't think Megaman Legends really belongs to the Classic Megaman universe. Like Megaman Battle Network , it is best viewed as a spin-off rather than part of the original Megaman series. Now look at the settings of Megaman X and Megaman Legends - Megaman X has all the high technology in it which the Legends series lack. The Scouter would be obsolete in Megaman Legends . The Bonnes aren't even chased by the Maverick Hunters. You can go and list everything - Megaman Volnutt really belongs to a separate continuity from Classic Megaman. The default Megaman continuity goes from Megaman, Megaman X and Megaman ZX but there is no way that Megaman ZX after 1,000 years. I think the Megaman Legends series was a ground...

Walter Emanuel Jones Clears Out The "Racist" Accusation In "Mighty Morphin'"

Image
I may not like Power Rangers BUT I understand why it exists. It's all part of INTERNATIONAL MARKETING! The accusation back then was that it was racist that Zack Taylor was the BLACK RANGER and an AFRICAN AMERICAN while Trini Kwan was an East Asian as a yellow ranger. Truth needs to be told that IT'S NOT RACIST. It only SEEMS RACIST but it isn't. In fact, neither character is portrayed as a negative stereotype regardless of their character flaws! Instead, the actor Walter Emanuel Jones gives this remark -- not especially on the MONTH of Himitsu Sentai Goranger's 50th year: "While some choose to seek out the negative, I’ve always believed in focusing on the positive," Jones wrote. "I understand the impulse to address what might be seen as cultural insensitivity, but calling it a 'mistake' would dismiss the impact it had on countless people around the world who found inspiration and representation in TV’s first Black superhero — morphin’ into none o...
