MMPR Reignition's Trying To Reignite The Franchise With Well... More MMPR?!

Seriously, it's NOT the 1990s anymore! It's disappointing how Saban's repurchase in 2011 up to Hasbro's handling -- IS JUST DISAPPOINTING! I may refuse to join a certain group of people. However, my dislike for Power Rangers is due to the MISMANAGEMENT of the franchise. Mismanagement by a GROUP OF PROFESSIONALS! I looked at the news and IS THIS ALL THAT HAS TO BE OFFERED? It's back to Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers for the nth time! Come on, it was already the 30th anniversary of the first season in 2023.

I wrote this post because 2025 is the 50th anniversary of Himitsu Sentai Goranger. It's one thing if Power Rangers does Ranger History Lessons on anniversaries. I may have disliked Power Rangers Operation Overdrive but it had some potential. Sadly, Disney's really bad scheduling (and perhaps budget too) cut the show TOO SHORT by 32 episodes! However, the Corona Aurora plan had potential. I don't think it's a coincidence that Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger created the Founder's Crown with that Battlizer! Was it because James MacLurcan (Mack Hartford) visited Japan some time ago? Maybe, maybe not. Operation Overdrive had potential -- it was ruined not by the cast but by DISNEY. Yes, you know how much I really HATE Disney's management these days!

The recent Re-Ignition toyline makes me react, "How often is Power Rangers going to keep relying on past successes?" Sure, it was a success in the 1990s but it's 2025. Companies that rely on their past successes are bound to FAIL. People bought Nokia back then but honestly -- WHO'S USING A NOKIA NOW? Power Rangers Samurai was just one bad example. Samurai could've just gone the way it should, try to tweak it differently that it should stand out against its source material, AND not bring back Bulk and create Spike. After that, Power Rangers Megaforce was trying to be Mighty Morphin' all over again and again. Power Rangers Dino Charge tried to be apart. After that? Well, everything really goes this way...

Just watching this video made me think, "WHEN'S POWER RANGERS GETTING OUT OF ITS COMFORT ZONE?" It's almost like still using an operating system from the 1990s. The equipment would've worn out by now! My PC when I was in high school is NO MORE. My PC when I was in college is NO MORE. I've bought another new PC. It's almost like the people involved with Power Rangers are still using old equipment. They may not be doing it literally but come on -- Power Rangers shouldn't be, "It should be back to Mighty Morphin'." Please, more and more generations would be less interested in Mighty Morphin'. It's like not every new generation of Super Sentai fans would want to check out what came before Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger.

Hasbro didn't do much to get out of that comfort zone either. Power Rangers Beast Morphers was too full of Ranger History Lessons -- when it's NOT supposed to be an anniversary season! Need I mention how Power Rangers Dino Fury was once again loaded with it? Bringing back Lord Zedd is an act of desperation and NOTHING MORE THAN THAT. I couldn't imagine IF Kishinryu Sentai Ryusoulger decided to bring back Black Cross Fuhrer out of the blue. Black Cross Fuhrer's guest appearances were usually for anniversaries or crossovers. Yeah, I'm looking at that horrid Super Hero Taisen film -- a concept that should've been best used as a video game! Lord Zedd's return feels like an act of desperation than anything else!

Let's face it Zord designs have evolved overtime. I don't think so many people would enjoy the more "conservative" 1990s Zord combinations. Some younger fans might probably say, "Huh? Not everyone had an individual Zord back in the 1980s until Hikari Sentai Maskman?" New Zord designs are tested every now and then -- to fit with the CURRENT market. Why would Power Rangers still throw back to Mighty Morphin' -- which will inevitably try to focus on a Megazord that's been more than a decade old.

Power Rangers should've focused on the current generation. Going back to Mighty Morphin's success is just dumb. It's pretty much like saying, "Well, we already succeeded back then and what's all we had." Well, just think if back then, they used technology from way back then too. They wouldn't get their success BACK THEN if they relied on successes evey MORE WAY BACK THEN.

In fact, Mighty Morphin' nostalgia is another reason why I dislike Power Rangers. The franchise is capable of growth. The problem is that both Saban and Hasbro are still stuck with nostalgia. It's not good for any franchise. It's no different why I've withdrawn from Disney live-action remakes.
