The Strange Case Of Blaze's Short-Lived Flame In The Mortal Kombat Franchise

Image
I remembered back when I was in elementary (and yes, it's funny how arcades just didn't have that strict rule about M17 games) when Mortal Kombat II came out. One of the points of interest was how there was the Pit II - a new stage that introduced a stage fatality where the opponent fell a bird's eye view. An interesting thing was there were two characters. One was called "Hornbuckle" and the other was "Blaze". It was even rumored that you could fight both characters aside from a character dubbed as "Blood" or "Skarlet". However, Mortal Kombat II only had three hidden bosses namely Jade, Smoke, and Noob Saibot. Blaze started out as a background character and was finally made playable in Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance . I still feel Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance is a junk game at best . There were interesting concepts such as the Red Dragon clan where the Black Dragon originated. However, neither Mavado nor Hsu Hao could beat Kano'...

Wacky Post: Why I Felt Zoey Reeves Is A Better Character Than Yoko Usami

Image
Henshin Grid I remembered writing my rant on Beast Morphers' good points and missed potential . I must also confess that I ended up enjoying neither Ryusoulger nor Beast Morphers in the long run . I've prepared some random rants between Beast Morphers and its source material Go-Busters . I felt I wanted to make this an individual WACKY post that I want to write for fun. It's known that I dislike Power Rangers but I ended up watching a few seasons. I did drop Megaforce due to how dull it is (and better rewatch Shinkenger instead for eye candy plus plot) and I ended up dropping Dino Charge since I'm no fan of Kyoryuger either. Ninja Steel just plain sucks since Victor and Monty make Takaharu look like a genius. I decided to check out what Hasbro could do with Beast Morphers and there are still some good points. It's like how I think Lightspeed Rescue's calm leadership approach is better than having a Drill Sergeant Nasty. I think about how Yasuko Kobayashi tends t...

Beast Morphers' Good Points And Missed Potential

Image
It's been ten years since Go-Busters actually aired. I don't know what Hasbro was thinking when they decided to adapt Go-Busters and make Beast Morphers out of it. Toei Ltd. gave the blessing (and right now, I think I've got issues with Toei which is trying to go Japanese-exclusive) and we get this show. The show's still subjected to the idiotic summer break (something Super Sentai thankfully doesn't do) and the 44 episodes run in total. Right now, I want to look at what could be the missing potential of this show. I'll try not to be biased since I usually end up disliking Power Rangers even if I'm aware Toei Ltd. is also part of it. It's pretty much I also dislike some of Toei's releases, I also dislike some Super Sentai seasons and I feel Super Sentai isn't as good as it used to be. The setting of Beast Morphers itself is Coral Harbor. A new form of energy called Morph-X is created as new green alternative energy - straight from the Morphin...

What Went Wrong With Shao Kahn's For The Evulz In The Netherrealm Continuity

Image
Shao Kahn continues to exist as one of the greatest video game villains. So great that even the fallen Elder God known as Shinnok or even his former master Onaga just can't overshadow him. Shao Kahn was supposedly dead in Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance but it's revealed that he used a decoy. Shao Kahn ultimately won Mortal Kombat: Armageddon which was retconned that he defeated Blaze rather than that he emerged the victor when the third unexpected outcome came to be. Onaga was a cool concept that made Shao Kahn greater. The fact Shao Kahn dared to poison Onaga or made the latter's followers swear loyalty to him makes him the greatest villain ever. Nobody can deny Shao Kahn totally owned the scene that even Onaga the former emperor of Outworld can't overshadow. The reboot continuity does some questionably idiotic plots that will make the Nostalgia Critic cringe if he reviewed the story mode Now, I think about the Netherrealm continuity and some things I didn't like...

My Own Weird Imagination Of Batman Marrying A Reformed Poison Ivy

Image
I can't deny that while Batman x Catwoman is rather popular - I'm still on the unpopular side of things with Batman x Poison Ivy. The Injustice games also had an ending of Catwoman supposedly marrying Batman after Brainiac was beaten. Now, I think about how I have a weird storyline brewed up. This would totally be a weird one so brace for it. I'm really thinking about how my own imagination created. Poison Ivy is more of an anti-villain who, with the right influence, can be reformed. I was wondering if she was created to be the third wheel in the already ongoing Batman vs. Catwoman pairing.  One storyline in The Batman Adventures (which is based on Batman: The Animated Series ) presents an uneasy alliance between Batman and Poison Ivy to save an environmentalist. Both of them work together (for once) even if Batman and Poison Ivy have trust issues. I think about how the comics should've done some sexual tensions between them even more. Poison Ivy did joke about Batman...

A Catwoman-Poison Ivy-Batman Love Triangle?

Image
I admit that I'm no longer into comics for the reason that there are so many reboots, and retcons, and the stories don't seem to end. Just think about The Twelve storyline in X-Men for one. Though, I think watching some cartoons here and there back then was another. One of my fondest memories was Batman: The Animated Series which the second season's art JUST SUCKED. WTF Warner Bros.? Anyway, there are some shipping battles in which Batman may be Archie while Catwoman is Betty and Poison Ivy is Veronica. I may be an Archie x Betty shipper but I'm a Batman x Poison Ivy shipper . Batman can be put in a real rock-and-hard place situation as Catwoman and Poison Ivy are considered Batman's awkward love interests. The 1966 Batman show starring the late Adam West had Catwoman as an on/off interest for Batman. Catwoman (Julie Newmar, later Eartha Kitt for some reason) makes seductive gestures at Batman either to gain advantage or because she's got a contradictory crush o...

So Why Hasn't Liu Kang Defeated Goro Outside The Video Games Canon?!

Image
Obviously, adaptations tend to deviate from the source material, right? I was thinking of Liu Kang's plot where he defeated Goro. I did a rewatch of the Mortal Kombat (1995) movie on Netflix before it was taken down. I thought about the lore of Mortal Kombat and the fact that Goro was the undisputed champion of the tournament for NINE GENERATIONS. Yes, Goro was unbeatable until Liu Kang defeated him. However, why don't we ever see Goro getting defeated by Liu Kang outside the video games canon? Did the writers ever forget the rules of the tournament? Goro was the undisputed champion. Goro defeated the Original Kung Lao 50 years after the latter defeated Shang Tsung. The Shaolin Temples tried to raise a champion but failed. Liu Kang, a descendant of the Original Kung Lao (perhaps from his mother's side), was raised to be that champion. For Liu Kang to become the champion - he must defeat Goro. Goro was defeated and hence Liu Kang became the new champion. Shang Tsung quickly ...
