Belle And Beast Had Way Better Chemistry 26 Years Ago

Image
Newer is always better? Not really! It had me thinking of why I tend to get negative about some modern remakes of many beloved animated classics. Right now, I even think about how Disney is already going for the worse and the whole movie last year -- Beauty and the Beast (2017) was no exception. Now it's time for a comparison of Belle and Beast and the chemistry they had together in both films.  I decided to rewatch the bland remake just to make this article. I thought about how much I actually thought of it as my favorite fairytale -- how a prince trapped in the appearance of a monster (while still maintaining his human biology) and having to have someone love him and be loved in return was my fantasy. Now how does it fair in 2017 vs. 1991? I would have to say that the chemistry of 2017 is just down flat -- I can't even decide which is worse between the 2018 version of Meteor Garden or the 2017 version of Beauty and the Beast in terms of bland chemistry between the leadin...

Remembering Tekken Tag Tournament 2: Learning To Balance Old School And New School Concepts

Image
"Learn from the old and pursue the new." is one thing that one can learn from innovative thinking yet it's frequently overlooked in today's day and age. Perhaps, my greatest beef today against some people who pursue new stuff is when they fail to learn why the old masterpieces succeeded and enhance them. Tekken 7 unfortunately has some of its problems like why in the world did they decide to spend budget on almost all previous Tekken endings rather than pursue in improving arcade mode, adding team battle mode or everything that actually made Tekken Tag Tournament 2 a smashing game or make a better story mode than their competitors? I could remember the perhaps minor frustration when I played Tekken 6 where I had to play through Scenario Campaign to unlock certain characters for its Arena Mode and play through only four freaking matches to unlock the ending. Then I bought Tekken Tag Tournament 2. At first, I wasn't so much of a fan of the "symbiotic relatio...

One Beef I Have Against Mortal Kombat X: I Want Animated Endings And Theater Mode

Image
Mortal Kombat X is supposedly MK4/Gold improved in many ways. For instance, we've finally have a Goro vs. Goro battle in the arcade ladder rather than where the PS1 version of MK4 and MK Gold just FAILED to do that for some glitchy reason that you ended up fighting Shinnok TWICE. Stupid huh? Though I do have my beef to why Goro was made a pre-order DLC or paid DLC -- I still thought Goro's gameplay implementation was improved in spite of that minor triviality once you've gotten MKXL instead of MKX. Another thing I want to think about is my desire for cinematic endings and a theater mode. Yes, only if we can see all those magnificent cutscenes in MKX's Story Mode in theater mode together with ANIMATED character endings. I was thinking that the whole Faction Wars concept is probably one weakness I'd count against. Not only did it punish people for simply not playing and participating (and right now, penalize me all ya want baby because I've got my life to liv...

My Mixed Reaction Regarding Mortal Kombat (2011) VS. Mortal Kombat X

Image
Perhaps I do have the habit of always waiting for discounts before I get anything new. The same can be said how I played Mortal Kombat (2011) in its Komplete Edition release last 2013 and played Mortal Kombat X (XL) last year via rentals before getting a PS4 this year. So anyway, I'm taking a deep breath with my opinion (so you can disagree with me all you care) with how I think of both games. I remembered pre-ordering and thank the Elder Gods that the PS3/XBox 360 versions were cancelled for this reason -- if they can't produce that game then you must as well return me money! Then I started taking a backseat and heard of Mortal Kombat XL which is the Komplete Edition of MKX. I remembered touching it for the first time -- I had a tear in my eye seeing the compensation package! I even think Mortal Kombat XL has more to offer for the single player than Tekken 7 ever does -- such as a Single Fight mode (for those who want custom one match opponents), the Endless Tower (a tower ...

Why I Never Warmed Up To The Virtua Fighter Franchise

Image
It's no secret that Virtua Fighter came before Tekken -- so saying that Sarah is the clone of Nina is right dead wrong! Virtua Fighter started the 3D fighting game genre but what came first or what's new doesn't always mean it's the best. Back then, there were two games that actually competed for arcade liner ups namely Tekken and Virtua Fighter. Both Tekken and Virtua Fighter had no character endings for the arcade games -- all the while Tekken had character endings for most of its run! I keep hearing praise of how "deep" Virtua Fighter is and how accessible to deep Tekken becomes. I remembered reading in a Playstation Magazine article where Edward Boon of Netherrealm Studios expressed he prefers Tekken over Virtua Fighter. Virtua Fighter like Tekken had its mechanics on pre-programmed combos. However, the controls were somewhat more basic with just the Punch, Kick and Guard buttons while Tekken took a one button per limb control for intuitive learning pr...

My Top Favorite Tekken Games For The Playstation 1-4 Systems

Image
I was thinking of challenging myself with ranking my favorite Tekken games from best to worst. So I'd like to do a ranking of my favorite Tekken games from bottom to start. Remember that these games would be Tekken, Tekken 2, Tekken 3, Tekken Tag Tournament 2, Tekken 4, Tekken 5, Tekken 7 and the recent Tekken 7. I haven't played the handhelds and don't intend to since I don't like owning too many stuff either! My top list: Tekken Tag Tournament 2 If there's going to be one Tekken game that I'd say actually did the best for innovation -- it's Tekken Tag Tournament 2. It's got almost everything I wanted -- almost every character from the previous game are here. It's basically improving almost everything Tekken did right for the years. It's like you've got a really good solid arcade mode, really solid gameplay and not to mention you could also take time to customize Combot here. Truly the best Tekken game! Tekken 5 Okay...

Wishful Casting: Kimberly For Power Rangers (2017) Movie

Image
It's really no secret that I do have really stupid reasons to skip that awful Power Rangers (2017) movie because Kimberly is nowhere near as hot as the 90s version -- same reason why I tend to have a shallow dislike for the 2017 Beauty and the Beast because Emma Watson ain't hot enough to be Belle IMHO. Now, I thought about my wishful casting to who should've played Kimberly for said film. So who's my top choice to play as Kimberly instead of Naomi Scott?  My personal choice (that's mine ANYWAY so feel free to pick your choice and disagree) is Gracie Dzienny for Kimberly. I was thinking about WTF about casting Scott as Kimberly -- though I have no issue with any role Scott's gonna take I just didn't think Kimberly was the right choice for her. Okay, aside from the obvious fact that Dzienny is hotter than Scott -- I could point out her resume also has one role that could've "groomed" her for Kimberly namely Amanda McCay from Supah Ninja...
