Two Bad Conan Sequels: Conan The Destroyer And The Young Warriors

Image
I had my thoughts on the Conan franchise' two analogous performances -- the performance of Conan the Barbarian followed up by Conan the Destroyer and the follow-up of Conan the Adventurer with Conan and the Young Warriors. Both were intended to be sequels but were poorly received for some reason. Both of them also had a female antagonist (Queen Taramis and Sulinara) who both wished to conquer the world. Let's start with Conan the Destroyer. The plot itself follows Conan the Barbarian where it left. Sadly, Conan is left with the incompetent Malak. How Malak survives from beginning to end is a mystery. The whole film leaves off from the intensity of the film, toning down everything to the point it's just WTF stupid. The film's plot is where Queen Taramis intends to sacrifice her own virgin niece Jehna to the dreaming god Dagoth. I felt the film lacked what made Conan as "Conan" in the first film. For me, it was lacking and deserved its Razzie Award nominati...

Megaman X7's Wasted Potential?

Image
Innovation is part of keeping up a business yet there's always the trial and error process. As a fan of the Megaman franchise, I did enjoy many of the new changes the game had especially introducing the Megaman X series. I'm a fan of the notoriously difficult Megaman X6 but X7 -- well it can now officially be the worst Megaman X game. It has the poor transition from 2D to 3D not because of that but because of issues like super hard controls, the poor lock-on system (where Megaman Legends does it better, sigh only if they analyzed the lock-on from Megaman Legends 2 or smoothed it out) and the really poor camera where the military deserves to get fired -- plus this game will be re-released on Megaman X Legacy Collection. One of the worst changes is turning Megaman X into a crybaby. Having to unlock X in a game based on him is B.S. to the max. No, this isn't the adventures of Zero and Axl -- it's Megaman X7!  You could only start as Zero or Axl. You can only play as ...

Magneto Is Powered Down In Other Media

Image
I remembered how often I actually laughed or ridiculed Magneto in the cartoon media in the good old days before Disney got mutilated and then -- MUTILATED Marvel Comics for the worse. Now I thought about the whole fact that Saban's X-Men cartoon and some previous incarnations of Magneto just don't get the full extent of how powerful Magneto really is. His appearance in one of the old Fantastic Four series (where Human Torch was replaced by Herbie) was just oh-so pathetic and stupid while he did have an impressive appearance in two Spiderman series -- especially in Spiderman  Many of the media tend to limit Magneto's power. I remembered the X-Men cartoon as well as the X-Men movies tend to portray Magneto to be more focused on ferromagnetic powers ignoring that's not the only field of magnetism. I may not be a physicist but I understand more of the basics of magnetism by doing some actual research. So what powers would he actually possess? It's not just ferromag...

That Small But Extremely Terrible Wily Capsule

Image
Classic Megaman may be remembered for a couple of stuff -- it brought the whole Megaman franchise together and its first villain Dr. Wily. But there was one notable cliche that occurred since Megaman 4 and that is Dr. Wily brings forth his ingenious scheme called the Wily Capsule. It may be small but watch out -- it's got terrible firepower and it's very hard to it! The Wily Capsule has been used in as a component of the Wily Machine or a separate battle after the Wily Machine has been destroyed. Megaman 4 started its debut of the Wily Capsule as a separate battle from the Wily Machine while Megaman 5 introduced it as a final component. So how dreadful is the Wily Capsule? It does one dreadful pattern that makes it harder to hit than the bigger machines that Dr. Wily brings -- it appears and disappears almost everywhere around the screen plus Dr. Wily uses extreme firepower for such a small machine.  The Wily Capsule in Megaman 7 has to be the hardest IMHO from those I...

Mortal Kombat Trilogy's One Incredibly Imbalanced Game

Image
I remembered owning Mortal Kombat Trilogy in the late 90s. Those were the days when the Playstation One was once a very coveted game system by children of that time -- but one had to suffer under its slow loading times. MK Trilogy is one game where I believe was highly imbalanced and shouldn't even be in the tournament circuits compared to Mortal Kombat (2011) and Mortal Kombat X. The game itself combines as many elements from the first three games and Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 -- hoping to make it the best game of its time. But it came out to what it was -- an incredibly imbalanced game. So what makes it imbalanced? I decided to do retro-play with MK (2011) and MK Trilogy and found out just how one game deserves its awards while MK Trilogy deserves way more criticism than the reboot. I mean, the reboot may not be a perfect game, I still wanted Friendships over Babalities and Brutalities (without the annoying long button sequence) but I'd actually end up playing MK (20...

Mortal Kombat (2011) Should Get Remastered For Next Generation Systems

Image
I was thinking about my hesitance to get a PS4 -- I did play Mortal Kombat X at a rent-a-game store and against a friend.  MKX had its fun factor but I can't deny the nostalgic factor with fewer frustrations and more fun that Mortal Kombat (2011) had to share with its audiences. It's hard to let go of MK (2011 ) for all its fun factor, being a more balanced version of Mortal Kombat Trilogy . Then I thought about playing MK Trilogy all over again and here's what I thought could be done. Gameplay changes The gameplay of the first game was fine.  After playing MK Trilogy , there were a couple of stuff that I wish were present. Sure, there are fatality trainers and it's way easier now to perform fatalities and babalities -- don't you think having Easy Fatalities can be a fun thing? I think having easy fatalities can be a fun thing. I remembered how I used it A LOT during MK Trilogy because I hated how difficult it was to do finishing moves back then. But...

Perhaps The Most Unforgiving Classic Megaman Game During The Old School Days

Image
I always hear the hype of Megaman 2 is the best Megaman game. Personally, I don't think so. It's a good game but I thought about it as perhaps "the most unforgiving" of the Classic Megaman series. Let me tell you a couple of stuff while I started playing this game with the frustration factor. Then again, there's always the frustration when you start playing older games in a game franchise -- when I didn't start with the first two games. I thought about some frustrations. I could talk about Quickman's stage and those annoying cannons. Easy way? Use the Time Stopper but you need it to beat Quickman! I think about the whole game where you lose Energy Tanks in-between the castle stages. Now I could talk about the frustration factor with the fortress bosses! Yes, them! Once you die you must go back AGAIN to a certain part and the frustration -- especially with the incredibly challenging (and often frustrating) level designs that you had to venture through ...
