Voltes V VS. Golion: What Could've Been Done With Emperor Daibazaal's Backstory? (Spoilers)

Image
It's no secret that both Emperor Zambojil and Emperor Daibazaal are pretty much alike . Daibazaal is pretty much an Expy to Zambojil in many ways. Both of them take their anger out on their subjects, hardly do anything themselves, ultimately a coward (except Daibazaal died in battle rather anti-climatically), and they're both tyrannical rulers who oppress their own people. My problem with Galra is that it's hardly developed. Sure, we see some slaves here and there but we can't differentiate it if the slaves were from captive planets OR enslaved citizens of Daibazaal's cruelty. Nothing is known about how Galra came to be it was or did the writers want it to be Chaotic Evil. The only backstories known were that of Prince Sincline. It was discovered by the audience (but not Sincline) that Sincline was born of dual heritage. It can be assumed that Daibazaal probably married Sincline's mother at one point but later killed her. Sincline's mother seemed to be a mem...

Motaro In MK1 (As An Assist-Only Character) Revives My Old Theory About Motaro Being The Unfought In MK9

Image
Some time ago, I wrote why Motaro was reduced to just a cameo in Mortal Kombat (2011) . There was the hunch that it was difficult to program a four-legged character as a ladder boss. What happened to Motaro was that he was reduced to just a cameo. Motaro didn't even speak anything. The fact that Motaro had a few shots in Story Mode most likely explained why he became The Unfought. It was obvious that we saw Motaro fighting Johnny Cage. We saw Motaro bowing down when Shao Kahn arrived before he fought Johnny Cage. However, we saw Motaro killed by Raiden, and his body was brought down. It does seem Netherrealm Studios gave a very bizarre notice to the players about why Motaro was The Unfought. Eventually, Motaro became a Kameo Fighter for the upcoming Mortal Kombat 1 . My old theory was that Motaro was really tested. Possibilities are that people in Netherrealm Studios had tested the character. They already prepared the CPU for Goro, Kintaro, and Shao Kahn giving them some SNK Boss s...

Mortal Kombat 1 Recent Trailer: The Official Rulers Of Outworld

Image
Mortal Kombat 1 happens in a new era where people get reincarnated after the passing of the previous one. I guess Mortal Kombat 9 is best viewed as the franchise's reincarnation where several character roles are replayed. Certain characters are reincarnated in never seen ways before. I guess Sindel got reincarnated from a caring queen to a gold digger and I hope she's reincarnated good again. Shao is called General Shao since Kahn means EMPEROR. The new era has Mileena reborn as Kitana's older sister instead of her clone. In MK9 , Mileena was reincarnated to have never grown up with Kitana but came out only later.  A lot of role reversals happen during reincarnation. Raiden is reincarnated into a mortal with some power over electricity. Raiden is now the new Mortal Kombat champion. Liu Kang is now the Protector of Time itself with Geras. Geras no longer serves Kronika. Presumably, Liu Kang defeated Kronika again or probably had her reincarnated as a cockroach. Maybe, Shinno...

MK1 Has A Motaro Kameo Fighter?

Image
I could highlight how much I HATED Motaro. He was reduced to JUST A CAMEO in Mortal Kombat (2011) . I was more than happy that he didn't make it as a non-playable boss. My wild hunch was that either he was THAT difficult to input, the motion capture nightmare , or it was possible to implement him (as evidenced by the Story Mode cameo). I could say that it's possible to make him IMMUNE to X-Ray attacks as well as projectiles and throws. That action will totally break the game balance resulting in a very unbalanced boss character. Sure, Mortal Kombat bosses are supposedly difficult but he's just PLAIN OBNOXIOUSLY DIFFICULT. I'm amazed to hear that Motaro is returning as a Kameo Fighter. There's even leaked footage where he and Reiko are in Story Mode. I guess Netherrealm Studios has found better motion capture technology or CGI for the character. His becoming an assistant character isn't really an issue.  Any Marvel vs. Capcom player may have noticed the Special P...

Prince Sincline As A Corrupted Character Copy Of Previous Tragic Evil Princes In Super Robot Anime (Spoilers)

Image
If there was any evil character I had a great fondness for while watching Lion Voltron - it was Prince Lotor. It's only normal that Sincline's my favorite villain Golion - the source material. Sincline's practically almost the Scott Evil while Emperor Daibazaal was the Dr. Evil of the show. Like Scott Evil, he tends to come up with more practical plans while his father (and also Honerva) tend to come up with the typical screwed-up plans. The fact he tried to divide and conquer the Golion team, the fact he held a good amount of the central capital of Altea hostage, and other similar plans. Though, there were times his sadism gets the best of him making him more or less a Stupid Evil and For the Evulz type of villain like Honerva and Daibazaal.  With the story of Sincline comes a tragedy. He doesn't know who his mother is and Daibazaal keeps refusing to tell him about it. I could only assume that his unnamed mother (who was given a counterpart known as Queen Lora and refe...

The Drule Confusion In The Voltron Duology: What's Up With That?

Image
I remembered watching both Lion Voltron and the very ill-received Vehicle Voltron . Before Power Rangers became Toei's big ticket - I think Toei attempted to do so with the Voltron franchises. I think they wanted ot create the Voltron franchises with different Voltrons. I heard Albegas was going to be part of it too. What happened was that two unrelated shows Golion and Dairugger XV were given a common link. The original source materials were meant to be separate universes. Golion had it happen where the Earth perished in a nuclear war in 1999 A.D. Dairugger XV takes place in 2200 A.D. where I'd no longer live to see it. Amazingly, Golion was on Combattler V's 5th anniversary and Dairugger XV was on Voltes V's 5th anniversary. That's why I wished Dairugger XV was a follow-up to Voltes V with the robot as Lagour's masterpiece, maybe introduce Kenichi as the mentor to Aki, and have some Boazanians help out in space exploration.  Back then, it was confusing why do ...

Why I Still Believe Voltes V's Bergan Was A Promoted Hornless

Image
Voltes V was somewhat ambiguous whether if General Bergan had horns (which would've been so FUNNY LOOKING that he was ashamed of them) or if he was born hornless. Some can assume that he lost his horns in a war. However, a better review of Voltes V from past episodes before he arrived and after he arrived can provide a clue. Blink and you might miss that Voltes V did have more than Prince Lagour (Dr. Kentaro Gou) as a significant hornless character. There were other Voltes V characters who were hornless too. Now, it's time to look at two Boazanian Beast Knights (dubbed over as Beast Fighters) or as some prefer to call it Robeasts. However, a Robeast is a ROBOT BEAST and not every giant monster that was sent to fight was a robot beast. Here are two of the Beast Knights that were actually HORNLESS... An earlier episode showed Gardo as a Beast Knight. It wasn't explained in-show how the Boazanians enlarged anything to become a Beast Knight. Granted, there were a few episodes w...

When Mortal Kombat Copies From The Marvel VS. Capcom Series

Image
It's one thing that Mortal Kombat had copied a lot of stuff from the Tekken series . The creators did copy the 3D gameplay which DID NOT WORK as expected. Eventually, the series went for 2D gameplay while copying the one-button per limb system from Tekken . Now, it's time to really take a look at how Mortal Kombat copied from Marvel vs. Capcom in some way. Take note that Tekken also copied from several older games such as Street Fighter and obviously Virtua Fighter . So let's get straight to all of what, SHALL WE? Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe has to be the blatant one. The popularity of the Marvel vs. Capcom series (which started with X-Men vs. Street Fighter ) just couldn't be stopped, right? I remembered how this game came out and I heard the game wasn't good. I guess I wasn't much of a DC Universe fan and I would've preferred Mortal Kombat vs. Marvel Universe instead. Though, Disney buying Marvel and Warner Bros. later owning DC Comics came in. This was ...
