Harvest Moon: Innocent Life

Image
Harvest Moon: Innocent Life is a futuristic version of Harvest Moon for the PS2.  What makes this game unique from the other Harvest Moon games I've played is that it actually follows a story.  The main character is not a human but a robot sent by Dr. Hope, to test this "Innocent Life" model which he must have his maintenance on Sundays.  Like Save the Homeland, it does not have a marriage feature either. He must also unlock hidden secrets by opening doors in the fields by connecting four crystals of the same color to do so.  Whenever a field is unlocked using four crystals of the same color (it must be forming a square and no spaces in between), certain doors are unlocked to progress the story. Certain events must be followed in order to save the village from the imminent wrath of the Fire Spirit which I did.  Not doing so will cause a bad ending to happen.  Every event leads to the story's progress.  I also love the event that leads to getting F...

Megaman X: Throwing Back Towards the Original Megaman

Image
Aside from the obvious fact that Megaman X is in fact Dr. Light's greatest creation (and could be a revamped Megaman, rebooted and rebuilt for future use), the Megaman X series tries to throw back itself towards the classic series in spite of its tone change from lighter to darker. Here's some I can name: Megaman X If you have noticed in Megaman X , you will end up noticing some of the bosses are throwbacks to classic Megaman bosses namely: Flame Mammoth, Chill Penguin, Electric Sparkmandrill, and Boomer Kwanger might be references to Fireman, Iceman, Elecman, and Cutman (all from Megaman 1). Boomer Kwanger may also reference Quickman in Megaman 2. Armored Armadillo's stage may remind you of Gutman's stage. There are also the Degravers which are stand-ins for the Picklemen in the original game. Sigma as the main villain has these throwbacks from Dr. Wily in this way. Remember when Dr. Wily reprogrammed the robot masters from Megaman 1 to work for him? Well, Si...

Some Issues I Have with Power Rangers

Image
So far, I tend to go from neutral to hate to like to neutral, these days it's more of liking Power Rangers then being neutral for these reasons... The Zordon arc.  MMPR should have ended but no, it got overextended to the point everything just goes from bad to worse.  Toei created Zyu2 footages for Saban to use and when it ran out, Dairanger footages were supplied.  I dunno why Toei even allowed the overextension of MMPR to three seasons which for me, only season one was worth my watch. The rest was really bad.  Zeo had also that Kimberly's character derailment with the Dear John Letter.  Turbo was terrible, just terrible.  PR in Space is a mess of a series and you know it! The Zordon arc had villains with no sense of direction or just simply evil of evil's sake.  Lord Zedd arrives and simply complains Rita is not fit to be an empress of eeevvvviiiillll... in short they have no specific goal but just to spread their evvviiilllll.  In Power R...

Tekken's Legacy Characters

Image
Tekken also had some legacy characters. A legacy character is when a code name is passed from one person to another. Mortal Kombat had the name Sub-Zero passed between two brothers Kuai Liang and Bi Han. Robin's title was passed from one apprentice of Batman to another, as Dick Grayson ceased to be Robin and became Nightwing. Tekken had some legacy characters too. King in Tekken. Tekken 1-2 had the first King who was the founder of an orphanage and the friendly rival of the first Armor King. King I was killed by Ogre. King II was some orphan who grew up in King's orphanage and became the second King. King II goes into Tekken 4 with a rivalry with Craig Marduk to avenge his master Armor King I. Tekken 5 somewhat ends his rivalry with Craig Marduk after he found out that revenge was not the answer. Armor King is another legacy character. Armor King I appeared in Tekken 1-2 as a playable character. Sadly he was not playable in Tekken 3 but appeared in King II's...

Remembering Rurouni Kenshin

Image
One of the Anime series I watched during my teenager years was Rurouni Kenshin, while I didn't see too much of it nor remember all of it, but I had fond memories of it.  So let's get down shall we?  While I used to think it was really based on real events, events in the show proved otherwise that it wasn't a real account.  Kenshin is far too fictional to be real but maybe, he was based on a real person.  So far, I want to rewatch everything to recapture the eras I've missed.  Some enemies become friends, others don't. The first arc introduces us to Megumi who is part of the opium trade.  Megumi is a former prostitute and knows how to make opium.  She was forced to make opium but later became a doctor.  The Megumi arc features Takeda Kanryu a powerful industrialist villain, Jin-e Udo who is a bloodthirsty assassin and the Hiruma Brothers.  After the downfall of Takeda, we are introduced to Aoshi Shinamori and Misao.  Aoshi is another of ...

Kimberly Hart: Attempting to Replicate the Character's Charm?

Image
The popularity and positive reception of Kimberly Hart may have actually started a new revolution for female rangers in Tokusatsu, both Super Sentai and Poswer Rangers.  I guess despite her initially entering to be shallow and ditzy, I guess she's still got some positive reception from both Asian and American fans.  So how do I think they attempted to replicate her charm?  They may have not copied the character entirely but it's as if the charm is being carried over. Whether or not Chisato counts is still for me debatable.  I'd like to put her here.  After watching Megaranger Chisato is observed to be pretty feminine and she can sing, like Kimberly as seen in one episode when she lost her voice to Canary Nejire.  Unlike Kimberly, she is no cheerleader but an aspiring photographer, a trait later passed on to Emma in Megaforce.  She is shown to be pretty fashionable outside her school uniform. Ashley Hammond was the second cheerleader and was supp...

The Nina Williams vs. Anna Williams Sibling Rivalry

Image
The story of Nina Williams and Anna Williams is a pretty complicated one.  What was known according to Namco's official word is that Richard Williams their father favored Nina over Anna.  Anna may have always sought her father's attention but was neglected.  Nina learned assassination techniques, Anna did not thanks to the father's favoritism.  Their father died and they both blame each other whose fault is it which can be seen.  It seems to be most of Nina's endings are canon from Tekken 1-4.  Note Anna DID NOT appear in Tekken 4. Tekken 1 shows just a simple ending where both Anna and Nina fight in their apartment instead.  Tekken 2 gets more serious when Nina's supposedly canon ending shows them visiting their father's grave.  Nina just refused to make peace with her.  Tekken 3 has a modification of Tekken 2's ending where she slaps Anna at the end of it. In between Tekken 2 and 3, both sisters were placed in cryogenic sleep state for...
