My Thoughts On G.I.Joe's Last Two Seasons By DIC, Not Hasbro

Image
G.I.Joe is one cartoon adaptation from the comics that really deviates from the comics. A good example is how G.I. Joe The Movie itself gave a very different origin of Cobra Commander that made him inhuman - something that the comics NEVER intended to do. Sunbow produced two seasons and practically jumped the shark by introducing Serpentor (who was also in the comics) who was even stupider than Cobra Commander in the cartoon version. The movie came and it seemed to end everything until DIC (for some reason) got the rights to produce the third and fourth season. Hasbro dropped off Sunbow in favor of DIC. DIC also partnered with Saban and Nintendo to produce The Super Mario Bros. Super Show . The DIC series continued straight after the movie. I'd say the movie was a mess that just added more random elements like Cobra-La and Cobra Commander's origins. Rewatching it and I'm reminded of how messed up the movie was. How can the episode "Twenty Questions" now fit i...

Goku And Gohan Marrying The Ugly Guy's Hot Daughter

Image
While I don't find myself really rewatching Dragon Ball or Dragon Ball Z (except for selected arcs) - I wanted to make a bit of plot recycling. Gohan was actually supposed to be the "new Goku" but may have been in his father's shadow. Gohan did beat the much stronger Cell but I guess the popularity of Goku and Frieza is hard to match, right? Gohan would later get weakened in the now non-canon Dragon Ball GT. Now, one plot that was actually reused would be the two heroes marrying the ugly guy's hot daughter. Should we really Ox King as ugly? Maybe, maybe not. All that's known is that he has a beautiful wife and sired a beautiful daughter whose a xerox copy of her mother. We need to consider that most children are a combination of both parents for better or for worse. Even some ugly people are born from attractive parents and vice-versa. Brigitte Lin's children are half of her and half of her ex-husband which means they're neither as pretty nor as...

Remembering "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" (1987 VS. 2003)

Image
I don't deny that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1987 version) is part of my childhood. However, not every kiddie show that I enjoyed as a child is worth rewatching as an adult... at least for me! Like Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers - I think the 1987 version of TMNT hasn't been really worth rewatching IMHO. The 1987 version of TMNT was considerably lighter than the comics where most villains tend to be rather stupid. Then I remembered college came and the TMNT (2003) which proved that nostalgia wasn't always the best thing. It's just like how I ended up disliking Power Rangers in favor of Super Sentai. The 1987 Cartoon The first one in my memory is the 1987 version. Yup, this is the one I watched as a child while I watched the 2003 version as an 18-year-old college student. I could remember the whole show being funny and child-friendly. Perhaps the most hilarious stupidity with the uneasy alliance between Shredder and Krang. I had an obsession with TMNT to t...

The Now Underappreciated Lore Of The First Mortal Kombat Game

Image
We have to consider the first Mortal Kombat game was not that popular. It's rightly underappreciated by today's standards such as only seven fighters, no combos, one fatality per character, not much diversion, and a greater lack of balance than the second game. In my case, I don't even play the classic MK games anymore except the reboot entry. Ironically, Goro still remains more popular than Kintaro for a reason even if the second game was more popular than the first. Now, it's time to revisit some stuff that could've been carried over during the reboot.  Here are scans that you might notice in the comics. You may notice some characters referred to as relatives to some of the characters. Kano did get the interesting retcon treatment because of the late Trevor Goddard. Though I think some concepts here were interesting but were easily forgotten. I think nobody's interested in Johnny Cage's ex-wife in the original timeline since he did get together with ...

The WTF Moment Of Sindel In 'MK11: Aftermath'

Image
Bad writing? Really... it looks like Corporate Commander has invaded Netherrealm Studios, right? The expansion pack's payment is justifiable. However, the latest storyline for Sindel is really making us go WTF with this retcon. Why is that? We must consider the big reality that Sindel has been altered into... willingly evil? I'm really finding myself LMAO and facedesk at the same time. Who can remember the original storyline Sindel had? Most of the time, we remember her to have ended her life driven to madness at the thought of serving Shao Kahn. Here? Did she love him all along because of a lust for power? Did she betray Jerrod all along? Did Quan Chi really plan her death? Even her tower ending is really that shocking. Right now, I can't decide which is more WTF between the revelation between Tekken 7 's revelation of the Devil Gene having been from the Hachijos (the clan of Heihachi's wife) or the sudden inclusion of Akuma into the Tekkenverse. If adding Akuma...

It Seems That Marvel's Legacy Virus Predicted The COVID-19 Pandemic

Image
; I keep hearing that the Legacy Virus was supposed to be a metaphor for AIDS. Sadly, Marvel subscribed to the woke stupidity. However, there was a time when Marvel was more focused on real issues such as racial discrimination. Did Stan Lee have Asian Americans in mind when he wrote about mutant discrimination? Maybe, maybe not but mutants were humans born with the x-gene. Mutants are humans too but why are they discriminated against? It's almost like the issue of racism in the United States of America (USA) and how whites discriminated against Asian Americans and African Americans as if they weren't truly American. American is a nationality - Asian and African are ethnicities. It's like how the mutants are unfairly discriminated against even though they too are still part of the human race. In the X-Force  comics, Stryfe took the Legacy Virus and decided to use it to create a human-mutant war. The trick was to give Gordon Lefferts, an assistant of Mr. Sinister, an empty ...

Some Stuff MK11 And MKX Had I Wish Were In MK9

Image
If you ask me I dunno what's wrong with modern gaming these days. I already bought the disk and I have to pay an extra USD 40.00 for the Aftermath pack? Well, I could pay for it but wouldn't it be too costly? I freaking bought the game already! Anyway, there's also FREE upgrades which will involve the return of Stage Fatalities (Like what took you SO LONG, Netherrealm?) and the return of Friendships. Now, I decided to talk about stuff I wish were in MK9 way before this game. The most obvious has to be that I wanted Cary Hiroyuki-Tagawa to be the voice of Shang Tsung in MK9 . Consider the fact that Shang Tsung's battle cry was ripped off straight from the Mortal Kombat movie last 1995. Shang Tsung's youthful appearance almost looks like Tagawa's character from The Phantom namely Singh. If Kano looks like the late Trevor Goddard then I wonder why Tagawa's appearance too so long to be integrated? Tagawa himself could've said some lines from the movie ...
