Unpopular Opinion: Azazel Wasn't A Horrible Tekken Boss IMHO

Image
Tekken bosses can be controversial. I didn't like Tekken at first (specifically the first two games) because of the input lag problem and the bosses are F*CKING HARD. Yes, talk about the CPU and one may remember the final battles against Heihacki (the first Tekken game) and Devil ( Tekken 2 ) were monstrously difficult. It was because the first two games are purely experimental concepts. One may also consider the hardware limitations of the fifth generation consoles vs. the improvements brought upon by the sixth generation consoles to the current nine generation consoles. Some older games were just meant to make you mad. Tekken 6   was a game in 2007. Yes, it was the good old days when the arcade was still there. Basically, any fear against Azazel was with the arcade model. However, I played Tekken 6 on the PlayStation 3 meaning I had INFINITE CONTINUES. However, a boss that was too difficult back in the day, even with infinite continues, was still a pain. Maybe, one can talk ...

Magneto As A Victim Of Revolving Door Writing

Image
I watched X-Men: The Animated Series without knowing Magneto's LONG history. It turned out that the original X-Men was in the 1960s -- meaning Haim Saban's famous TV series was decades after the original. It turned out that Magneto's original group was called the Brotherhood of EVIL Mutants -- a group of mutant supremacists. Magneto was just a dark mirror to Professor Xavier during the earlier days of the X-Men. Magneto existed as a Social Darwinist as well. This was the Silver Age comics when most villains were pretty much one dimensional. It can be noticed that Magneto had his "deepening" with Chris Claremont in the 1980s  It can be noticed that Magneto went from a one-dimensional villain to having a deeper background. Magneto was later revealed ot the survivor of the Holocaust in the Second World War.  Any backstory given to Magneto feels too random at times. For example, the famous revelation (decades later) that he was secretly the father of Quicksilver and S...

B.S. Retcon In Dragon Ball Super Is Frieza NEVER Training In His Life

Image
It's no secret that I dislike almost everything that came after Dragon Ball Z . I personally think Dragon Ball Super is probably even worse than Dragon Ball GT . I wasn't even happy about how the Buu Saga was a bloated toy commercial . I have my reasons for skipping Dragon Ball entirely these days. It's like Toei's not aware of the timeline that a lot of people born in the 1980s are NOW in their 40s! Another reason that I'd like to state is Frieza's retcon revelation in Dragon Ball Super: Resurrection of F where Frieza "never trained a day". Like WHAT? I couldn't help but react WTF to that given Frieza himself doesn't look like someone who never trained. The Namek Saga was where Frieza sought out the Namekian Dragon Balls. Frieza displayed several traits that showed why his "never trained a day" plot decades after -- is PLAIN STUPID. Let's give some examples of Frieza's past: Frieza's shown to have INCREDIBLY ACCURATE AIM....

Shang Tsung's Possible Mythological Origin Explored

Image
Mortal Kombat certainly has a lot of mythologies going on. I previously discussed how Shao Kahn could be based on the Bull Demon King , and Shinnok was probably based on Tongtiao Jiaozhu . It's easy to think of Shang Tsung as that evil corrupted Taoist priest based on his outfit from the very first game. However, thanks to AI, I started discovering more characters. True, there was the White Bone Demon in Journey to the West but the character was female. Now it's time to present another character called Shen Gongbao, a character with whom Shang Tsung (and perhaps Lo Pan in extension, who inspired Shang Tsung) was based upon! Shen Gongbao is one of the most vile villains in Chinese mythology. Tongtian was a fallen Elder God. The Bull Demon King was a brute force that required the Judgment of the Elder Gods. Shen himself was a villain who had some skulls. Shang Tsung's trademark projectile was a flaming skull. Shen was actually a jaguar demon disguised as a human. Both are a...

Polaris Should've Been Made Magneto's Firstborn Anya IMHO During The 1980s-1990s

Image
Why I don't read comics anymore these days is because of HOW LONG it can take to reveal something. Call it the Peter Pan syndrome. I thought about another long-standing rumor I believed in the 1990s -- that was Polaris was indeed Magneto's daughter. It wasn't officially declared until 2003 via a DNA test. That's what I don't like about the revolving door of writers. The writers tend to come up with a ridiculous retcon vs. a retcon that works. For example, the revelation that Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch as Magneto's lost children works vs. the dumb retcon that hit in 2016 . The same could've been done in the 1980s with Polaris is as she should've been Magneto's ELDEST DAUGHTER ANYA. I always thought about the fact that more often than not, Scarlet Witch and Polaris have a certain resemblance. Quicksilver had been drawn to look like Magneto than his ADOPTIVE PARENTS. Sure, not everyone who looks alike is related. What made me think about how to link ...

Tyler Dayspring: A Badly Written Tragedy

Image
Back in the 1990s, one of the most intriguing characters was Cable. However, I'd like to spare a thought for a character I thought was at first interesting but ended up as a BADLY WRITTEN TRAGEDY namely Tyler Dayspring. Tyler underwent several identities as Tolliver (a weapons dealer) and later took the alias of Genesis (since Apocalypse literally means revelation or the end of all things). These things were what I'd call a case of tragedy for tragedy's sake. Tyler was Cable's son, Cyclops' grandson, and a tragedy that sadly became the third wheel in the Cable vs. Stryfe conflict. It was a case of a series of badly written and badly unraveled mysteries. Tyler was the son of Cable and Aliya Jenskot. I'd like to say that everything started with a very OOC moment for Cable. For a start, I thought Stryfe's having to hire a mutant named Frisco to brainwash Tyler was unnecessary. Come on, Stryfe is WHAT CABLE COULD'VE BEEN WITHOUT THE TECHNO-ORGANIC VIRUS. Str...

Power Rangers' Getting Worse As A Surefire Revenue Killer For Toei Ltd.

Image
Warning: This article will feel biased because I DON'T LIKE Power Rangers . However, given Shinichiro Shirakura's statement , I feel that Toei alone isn't to blame, maybe not just Shunkan Bushun, but also the harsh reality about Power Rangers . Power Rangers doesn't ruin Super Sentai's content but ruins its own when it creates a terrible season or entry. However, given the funding cycle, it's more like Power Rangers' really bad downward trend since 2011 (or earlier, GIVEN THE DISNEY ERA TOO) may also deserve the blame. Here are  Shirakura's words , regardless of how I feel about  Power Rangers : Shirakura observed that he joined Toei in 1990, when the company was planning the 1992 series Kyōryū Sentai Zyuranger. The staff back then thought that it might be the final Sentai entry. So, the younger staffers wanted to try something different, and introduced a sixth regular member mid-story for the first time in the franchise.  Shirakura mused that Zyurange...
