Mortal Kombat 11: A Game Miles Better Than The Rather Disappointing Tekken 7

Image
Well it's been two days since the release though I just got my game today. Okay, I could go ahead and bitch about some of the game's shortcomings like why are we missing Stage Fatalities AGAIN? Hopefully, there will be Stage Brutalities to make up for it. But in spite of imperfections, I thought about targeting a game that for me was a massive disappointment namely Tekken 7. I waited for that game before I got a PS4 and guess what -- that game has plenty of wasted potential ! Shao Kahn is a better pre-order bonus than Eliza So I remembered the idea to why I even pre-ordered the game. Shao Kahn is a better pre-order bonus than that who cares vampire known as Eliza. Namco could've made a pre-order bonus containing legacy characters but NO... they decided to settle for that rather idiotic Eliza. What's her role in the game anyway? Shao Kahn is that legendary Big Bad in Mortal Kombat. He had the most badass death in MK (2011) where the Elder Gods carried him over for judg...

What I Wished MK11 Did With Shinnok

Image
MK11 is a hype though I thought of one seriously mistreated character -- SHINNOK! I always thought Netherrealm apparently does have an extreme favoritism for Shao Kahn. Why do you think they decided to retcon the idea of him being killed by the Deadly Alliance -- back when it was still Midway before it got bankrupt and bought by Warner Bros.? Why do you think Shinnok was treated as such a wuss in MK4 and MK Gold? I don't think they really cared about him. TBH, I think Wuxia series have more respect for his source material Tong Tian Jiao Zhu (Heavenly Grandmaster) -- though the Eight Immortals (1998) TV series had him betrayed by his right hand man Pan Golin. So what's my thoughts on MK11 and Shinnok himself? Turns out that he's Kronika's son and Cetrion's brother -- which may make Kronika also the mother of the Jade Emperor and Tai Shang Lao Jun (Grand Supreme Elderly Lord) in the process. Kronika does have the ability to restore anything so why didn't she d...

Kitana Looks More Chinese In MK11

Image
Kitana here suddenly looks Chinese after MANY YEARS of looking not Chinese. Do you remember Katalin Zamar played her in MK2? MK Gold did make her look Chinese though I liked her MK9/MKX look that resembled Talisa Soto the best (for nostalgic reasons) -- so why is Kitana once again looking Chinese like she did in MK4? Yeah sure Kitana looks hotter now (resembling a hot Chinese actress) but I think the whole Talisa Soto reference was better. I thought that I kinda prefer the less hot version of Kitana than this one namely from MK9-MKX because it had more nostalgic value. I dunno why I'm not appreciating this change so much -- I kinda just prefer the Kitana that looked more like Talisa. Heck, I wish Talisa voiced her in MK9!

MK11's Pre-Order DLC Should Be More Appealing Than Tekken 7's Pre-Order Eliza

Image
MKX had a good pre-order bonus in the form of a depowered Goro. Now MK11 is moving towards another direction by giving a pre-order FAR MORE WORTHY than Eliza in Tekken 7 -- the BIG BAD of Mortal Kombat himself Shao Kahn (or at least a past version of him) is returning. The difference between Goro's pre-order and Shao Kahn is this -- Kahn appears in Story Mode while Goro's doesn't. Eliza in Tekken 7 doesn't even appear in Story Mode and her Character Episode isn't even a bit interesting. Seriously what happened to you Katsuhiro Harada and Bandai-Namco?! So why is Shao Kahn a good pre-order bonus? Remember the times that you got to play as a depowered version of him in MK Deception (Gamecube version), MK Unchained (PSP), MK Armageddon and in MK vs. DC? Well, it was fun to take control of him even if he got depowered or to get your revenge for all the hard times he gave you during MK2, MK3, UMK3, MKT (he was playable but not depowered). Adding him as a pre-order D...

The Name Switching From M. Bison-Balrog-Vega To Balrog-Vega-M. Bison Controversy

Image
Ever remember when you played the Street Fighter games during the 90s as a child? You probably had a Japanese version and an American version. No, the game where the names were Balrog was Bison, Vega was Balrog and Bison was Vega is NOT a fake -- it was the original Japanese version. So what happened? There were many theories though the only one that seems to make sense is it's because Mike Bison (Balrog's Japanese name) sounded too much like MIKE TYSON. But here's my theory behind the name changes? The meanings were somewhat there. Now we have the definition of the names.  Balrog means a dormant beast-man you don't want to encounter. Claw's fighting style is pretty much passive-aggressive. A balrog also moves in the shadows. Claw would be an assassin and moves like a balrog.  Vega is a Spanish word meaning fertile plain. Investopedia also calls it a measure of price volatility of the underlying asset. Vega is also the brightest star in the Constellation Lyra. Ok...

Taking The Cetrion Leak With A Grain Of Salt?

Image
How legitimate is this leak from Reddit ? I can't be certain but one thing is certain -- we do have a new character named Cetrion. She's probably the Earth Goddess or maybe a descendant of the first Mother Goddess Nuwa and Fuxi. The reveal so far makes her look like Gaia from Greek mythology. Now if Kronika happens to be the mother of Shinnok as well -- this has me thinking of who also could be Kronika's children if we mix more Chinese mythology together. I already pointed out how Shinnok is probably based on the fallen Elder God known as Tongtian Jiaozhu . With that in mind then both Yuan Shi Tian Jun (the leader of the Three Pure Ones and some regard he and the Jade Emperor are the same) and Tai Shang Lao Jun are also her sons. So has the Jade Emperor practically gotten rid of his own mother as well from the throne during the great war to take over? So what role does Cetrion fall into? Does she fall as Nuwa's successor as a nature goddess? Hmmm...
