Some Fun With Torin Getting A Power Rangers Counterpart Named Avian!

Image
Considering Thanksgiving Day is an American holiday, I'm just thinking it's a huge mistake to give Torin his Dino Charge counterpart. Oh boy, looks like he's going to become today's roast. Fortunately, that plot that Avian will be dinner won't be pushed through.

Chad Lee In Lightspeed Rescue: A Throwback To Hirohisa Soda's Blue Rangers Who Were Water Sportsmen?

Image
While watching Gogo Five and some bits of Lightspeed Rescue, Chad is definitely no Americanized Nagare. Instead, he would feel like some awesome blue rangers way back in the Hirohisa Soda era. I felt like he's more like these guys instead of his Lightspeed Rescue counterpart which is cool, considering that it's better to borrow ideas from other shows, not just the Japanese counterpart. Dynaman's Yousuke Shiima is a swimmer and surfer, the first aquatic blue ranger. Ryuta Nanbara is a water sportsman. In the beginning of Bioman, Ryuta can be seen as a water sportsman and his intro shows he is one. Like this guy, Chad is an accomplished martial artist. Chad might be best viewed as an Americanized version of Ryuta.

The Two Kazama Ladies Of Tekken: Jun Kazama And Asuka Kazama!

Image
Having played Tekken as a kid though it wasn't really my favorite at first, I thought about how Jun was sort of my "crush", while Kazuya was my favorite character. Now I could talk about the two Kazama ladies... Tekken 2 introduced the first Kazama member in Tekken. During the events of Tekken 2, Kazuya had taken over his father's place but had sank the Zaibatsu into what some say as a darker era. She was in charge of wildlife preservation, she went together with Lei Wulong to try and arrest Kazuya. Most likely, she might actually be the host to "Angel" as she is the one who visibly fight over for Kazuya's soul. She seeks to redeem Kazuya from the Devil within.

I Pity Sub-Zero Fans Huh?!

Image
Looking at this meme where you have Ed Boon talk about the idea for the next Mortal Kombat game, you have him ask Scorpion, QUan Chi and Sub-Zero for ideas. Sub-Zero says, "Not killing me in every trailer." then WOOSH. Even if Sub-Zero isn't my favorite character and Liu Kang is my top favorite but... come on...

A Summary Of Some Things I Believe Power Rangers Did Worse Than Super Sentai, IMHO

Image
If I wrote a summary of stuff that Power Rangers did better than Super Sentai , now it's time to write some of the stuff that they did worse. Now this is just a personal bias okay and I may focus mostly on the 90s. Moving on... Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers getting overextended then the Zordon Arc. I felt like that Mighty Morphin' should have just ended in the first season but Toei and Saban both agreed to film the Zyu2 exclusive footage. I dunno what Toei was thinking about allowing Saban to overextend Mighty Morphin' when in fact, they could have just moved with adapting Dairanger in full with an entirely new cast of characters. But again, I think Toei and Saban didn't put that too much into consideration back then until people got bored of recycling. Is it me or do I really hate Zeo? Based on my own personal feelings, Zeo was a bad season and Ohranger is pretty underrated. Okay, I guess you know how I dropped this show like stupid when that stupid Dear John...

So... Toy Sales Saved Power Rangers From Cancellation?!

Image
Did toy sales save Power Rangers in more than one level? I think so considering that if Ohranger didn't have a huge toy sale, if Go-onger didn't have a huge toy sale, I don't think that the show could go on. Whether this is exaggerated or not but I heard Power Rangers Turbo almost cancelled Power Rangers but I think toy sales were still able to at least, give Saban enough money to continue his operations. So at least, he was able to get the rights to use Power Rangers in Space and at least, created a season that kept Power Rangers going. Power Rangers Wild Force is another show that tends to get criticized for bad acting. I'll admit that after seeing Gaoranger, this how starts to get me mixed due to the lack of acting quality compared to its predecesor Time Force. With Jonathan Tzachor in charge of this show, the show started to basically have a slump. But I'd believe that at least the merchandise may have helped developed teh show.

The Bill Goldy Project In Janperson

Image
Mid-series, Janperson does not only get an android ally in Gun Gibson (something that didn't happen during the Robocop movies) but also, we have an interesting concept of a "New Janperson Model" which makes me think... IS THAT ROBOCOP 2?! In Janperson episode 31, Ryuzaboro Tatewaki undergoes a rather daring operation (literally) when he attempts to integrate the Janperson model into himself, to become the sinister Bill Goldy. It might be a cross-reference to RoboCain in the second Robocop movie. Remember in the second movie, Cain's brain was removed from its body and placed into the second Robocop. Tatewaki received some kind of cybernetics operation that turned him into the sinister Bio-Cyborg known as Bill Goldy which made me think... did the writers and producers have Clarence Boddicker in mind when they wrote this plot? Most likely! I felt like the whole plot was, "Let's take Boddicker's remains and turn him into the Robocop 2 project!...

Robocop's Blueprints, Janperson's Blueprints

Image
Here's a bit of the original vs. the inspired, Robocop and Janperson both had their blueprints revealed... Here's Omni Consumer Products' blueprints of Robocop.... I think this was taken straight from the movie. Now here's the blueprints of Janperson which... HOW IN THE WORLD DID TATEWAKI KONZERN GET A COPY OF IT? Granted that Tatewaki Konzern is Janperson's own version of Omni Consumer Products, they may have had a copy of Janperson's blueprints all along which soon allowed Tatewaki to transcend into becoming the bio-cyborg known as Billgoldy a la the Robocop 2 Project, except a much more humanoid version.

Dr. Marie Lazarus In Robocop, Kaoru Saegusa In Janperson!

Image
It's no doubt Janperson really completes the cycle - it's said Gavan's design inspired Robocop, then Robocop inspires Janperson. In spite of Janperson being purely a mechanical character in contrast to Robocop, the show doesn't fail to give tribute Robocop in several levels. Robocop 3 was screened in Japan during the broadcast of Janperson. It was during April 18, 1993 when Robocop was screened in Japan and on May 31, 1993 we have the character of Kaoru Saegusa making her first appearance in Janperson. Did the producers finally decided to give that shoutout? In Robocop 3, I thought that much of the enemies were pretty much inspired for the Neo Guild's operations. George Makebe ends up more like a Paul McDaggett for the rest of his series while having Cain's god-complex. In Robocop 3, Robocop challenges the robotic ninjas of Paul McDaggett. The ending of Robocop 3 somewhat parallels Makebe's ultimate fate in Janperson. So did Toei end up taking ideas fro...

Power Rangers As An Anti-Racist Propaganda

Image
Whenever I think of Power Rangers acting out as a multiracial team though most of them are mostly, American by citizenship, I think the whole idea is trying to combat racism either directly or indirectly. One may consider the whole team of Power Rangers when it first started. If you were a 90s kid, you might think of how Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers was accused of "racism" because Trini and Zack were assigned to yellow and black. But really? I thought about the whole idea is preposterous at more than one level because both characters were placed at a very positive light. Trini was a cool badass and Zack was a cool character. I couldn't help but still think of why create the controversy of the alleged racism of the show? If it were racist, the two would have been frequently discriminated but both of them were cool characters. If any season of Power Rangers combats racism and discouraged revenge for being a victim of racism, it was Power Rangers Time Force. The w...

My Confessions As A Kazuya Mishima And Jin Kazama Tekken Player

Image
As a Tekken fan who didn't instantly like the game due to its "oddity" but later on, I would practically warm up to the game, maybe because I believe that my bloodline is cursed or something. I'll admit that with my very first Tekken games were played in the arcade, I played Tekken 3 in my now defunct Playstation One, I would later play Tekken 4 and 5 on my Playstation 2, and currently I have Tekken 6 and Tekken Tag Tournament 2 on the Playstation 3. But now it's time to go back in time and I'll admit, at first I was more of a King player but as time passed, I was more of a Kazuya player. Maybe, just maybe for some reason, Kazuya defines my playing style as cheap and aggressive in contrast to Jin from Tekken 4 onwards was a more defensive player. Back then, it wasn't that possible to spam the Tequila Sunrise (spin kick) but again, Kazuya was my favorite player. Maybe it's because I held a grudge that badly his aggressive personality appealed to ...

Jin Kazama's Went Evil Bananas At A Worldwide Scale In Tekken 6!

Image
Well after writing about Liu Kang going bananas, I thought about writing about Jin going Bananas. Now, I'll admit I'm not that huge of a Jin fan (and strangely my favorite fighter to use in Blazblue is Jin Kisaragi) and I'm more of a Kazuya player, I'd really talk about what I think was surprising or really not so surprising about Jin's going evil bananas. Compared to his father Kazuya Mishima and paternal grandfather Heihachi Mishima, Jin is a tragic hero who seeks to right the wrongs of the Mishima Zaibatsu. What I failed to notice is that his Tekken 5 ending hinted at something terrible was going to happen. After he defeated his great-grandfather Jinpachi Mishima, one can see him entering the throne room of the Mishima Zaibatsu and assuming command from his grandfather Heihachi's throne and made an evil expression at the end of it. It was implying that something was evil in his mind or two, did Namco decide that since Kazuya mishandled his power, let J...
