"Hercules: The Legendary Journeys": Missing Some Crucial Details On Hera's Immense Hatred For Hercules?

Image
I've had some criticisms on Hera in Hercules: The Legendary Journeys . Some of Hera's misdeeds in thes how are actually ZEUS' ACTIONS. It was Zeus and NOT HERA who separated Typhon from Echidna. Many of the show's events are rewritten, such as NOT requiring Hercules to perform the Twelve Labors. Now, there's been that big question, "Why does Hera hate Hercules so much when Zeus had SO MANY BASTARDS?" It doesn't explicitly state that Apollo and Artemis are children of Zeus and Leto. I mean, some accounts reveal that Hera tempted Tityas, a son of Zeus and Elara who grew giant, to RAPE LETO. It could've been put into one of the episodes where Hercules went to retrieve Persephone. I mean, Tantalus, another bastard son of Zeus, MADE A CAMEO. Sisyphus was also a villain whom Hades requested to be brought back to Tartarus.  If we look into the myth, Zeus had so many affairs that it's hard to keep track of them. The movie Clash of the Titans has Hera...

"Snow White" In "Faerie Tale Theatre": When Lower Budget Production Beats Disney's Larger Budget DISASTER

Image
It's NO SURRISE that Snow Woke truly TANKED. The off-screen drama between Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot isn't surprising either. Unfortunately, Rachel's SJW attitude had already wrecked things. Now, it's time to review one of my favorite TV shows as a child -- Faerie Tale Theatre . The stories have modifications from the OG sources. Some OG stories are just too brutal and deserve to be changed. Of course, we couldn't have the Wicked Queen dance on red-hot shoes now, right? One could remember Vanessa Redgrave (left) and Elizabeth McGovern (right) as the Wicked Queen and Snow White. If I'm not wrong, Vanessa was actually 47 years old -- maybe more age-appropriate than Gal who's only 39 years old. However, people married rather young back then. Even today, Elizabeth as an OLD WOMAN still looks better than Rachel. But the point is Rachel's attitude that didn't help with the film TANKING! Here's a middle-aged Vanessa -- still looking good! I don't w...

Snow White (1987) May Be More Memorable Than Disney's Snow Woke

Image
I have no regrets skipping a lot of Woke Disney's horrid live-action remakes. Go Woke Go Broke, RIGHT? The flop made me think of another film I saw as a child, Snow White (1987). Casting has been much better. For example, former actress Sarah Patterson fits the description of Snow White perfectly. Meanwhile, the late Diana Riggs fits the role of the Wicked Queen better than Gal Gadot ever will. Gal feels "too young" for the role of the Evil Queen.  Rachel Zegler was already a mistake. Need I say Gal was already a mistake. Disney could've done other ways to race-flip the story. The story could've moved to some East Asian country like Korea or China. Snow White could've been turned Korean along with the whole story. I even find Disney's A Little Mermaid remake unbelievable. If Ariel was going to be black then why not transfer the whole story to Africa? Make all of Ariel's sisters BLACK LIKE HER. Instead, it almost suggests Triton was a philanderer who ...

Back When I Tried To Finish "Yie Ar Kung Fu" For The NES

Image
Yi Ar Kung Fu  will be going 40 years old this April 22. I couldn't help but think of younger me, wondering if the game ever ended. Spoilers: It was pretty much another of those endless games! It was all about getting the highest score possible. It was beating five opponents, the fifth is defeated, the gong is beaten, and you PLAY ALL OVER FROM THE BEGINNING with higher difficulty! So yeah, I tried doing A LOT of crazy stuff over here. I tried to unleash a Fireball -- never mind this game was by KONAMI! I would pretend that the protagonist Lee was the Great Kung Lao -- fighting five challengers in the  Mortal Kombat  tournament. Of course, that wasn't the case. I remember reaching up to Level 15 -- all before I got my high score! Either way,  Yi Ar Kung Fu  was another game that I enjoyed as a child. However, I got really spoiled by the PSX up to the PS4. The hit boxes in  Yi Ar Kung Fu  are expected to be not that good. Come on, it's a NES game...

First Impressions On "Blue SWAT" - A Toku That's Probably Chock Full Of American Alien Invasion Influences

Image
Some 1980s to 1990s masterpieces can be overshadowed, right? Whether it'd be some Super Sentai before Hyajakuu Sentai Gaoranger (because most of them can go overboard with dramatic tones), the older Kamen Rider series (because it was definitely still struggling to find its identity), AND the Metal Hero series (because the franchise' plug got pulled). Metal Hero was canceled but never forgotten. Come on, Super Sentai and Kamen Rider still make references to it a LOT. One show I decided to check out is Blue SWAT.   Metal Hero got canceled like the Super Robot Anime franchise. That's why I felt that Super Sentai may get canceled one day -- if ever Toei creates a new genre that will override it! I've watched Blue SWAT into six episodes! Yes, that's why I deleted my Dengeki Sentai Changeman watch-a-thon posts! Blogging is just a hobby so these posts are NEVER obligatory! Anyway, I'd like to talk about my first impressions on Blue SWAT . I heard it was enjoyed by olde...

Mortal Kombat Friendships: It's A Hit Or Miss

Image
I'm not the biggest of Mortal Kombat 11 . However, I still like the game to a certain extent -- despite feeling that Aftermath was plain HIGHWAY ROBBERY. The return of Friendships was something that made me say, "Shouldn't we have had those instead of Babalities in Mortal Kombat (2011) ?" It's time to look at the hit or miss! Mortal Kombat II up to Mortal Kombat Trilogy featured Friendships. Some of them were a hit. The others were pretty much a miss or just plain OOC. It's probably due to the time constraints as well as memory constraints. Some of them had a repeated friendship with a different variation. Who can remember the doll friendships in Mortal Kombat II by the palette swapped ninjas? They were followed up by Klassic Sub-Zero, Hanzo Scorpion, and Reptile doing a jack in the box -- their own versions! I found that rather dull and boring. Some Friendships didn't even match the character. Mortal Kombat 3 and its updates had some questionable ones. Ni...

How "Mortal Kombat (2011)" AKA "Mortal Kombat 9" Made Me Dump Away The First Eight Entries

Image
No video game franchise is without its flaws. I only played Mortal Kombat back then -- hoping that its violence could help me "man up". However, I ended up liking Liu Kang (my fave) even if he wasn't always the main character. Sure, I'm not impressed with how Mortal Kombat 1's timeline turns out -- especially since various reincarnations aren't working IMHO. I'd like to revisit a game that revived the franchise -- and a game that badly needs to be REMADE. I was so upset with Mortal Kombat 1's bloatedness that I became, "No PS5! I DON'T CARE!" However, I'd be lying to say that Tekken 8 isn't getting me tempted to get one! Tekken 8 looks much better and is getting better reviews. Mortal Kombat 1 is pretty much NOT a good reboot IMHO. Now, time to really talk about how Mortal Kombat (2011) made me forget the first eight games. The punch/attack scheme has been more charming (at least to me)  Mortal Kombat started out with the use of...

Hypothetical: Could Literary Thulsa Doom Work As The Recurring Villain In "Conan The Adventurer"?

Image
Conan the Cimmerian I still have mixed feelings over Conan the Adventurer . It might be because Conan the Barbarian (1982) wa practically what Conan should be -- despite the alterations. It's unknown why the late James Earl Jones' character was named Thulsa Doom -- but was ESSENTIALLY THOTH-AMON. Conan the Adventurer came out 10 years after Conan the Barbarian (1982) . A more fearsome version of Skeletor was introduced in Masters of the Universe  -- acted by Frank Langella. Conan the Adventurer 's toning down was understandable. It's supposed to be TV-Y7-FV. That's why the Serpent Men simply get sent back to the Abyss instead of being slaughtered. That's why Cartoon Conan is different from any other version of Conan the Barbarian. Cartoon Conan would've had much in common with He-Man (who also has Conan inspiration). Given that the literary Thulsa Doom had a skull for a head (and was enemies with Kull, not Conan) -- could Thulsa Doom have worked as the recur...

Potential Direction: My Own Turn Of What Could've Been Done With Poison Ivy And Harley Quinn In An Alternate Animated Future

Image
I wrote about what could've been done with Batman and Catwoman in Batman Beyond . Should I be glad it never happened or not? Seeing photos of Adam West and Julie Newmar in reunions can inspire ideas. The idea that Batman and Catwoman as an elderly couple was explored in Rebirth . Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker is a fanservice. The OG Joker returns in an elderly Tim Drake's body. There was a cameo of Harley Quinn (now an old woman). However, I'd like to share my nitpicky side on what might be that "unexplored potential" with Poison Ivy . I always thought of Poison Ivy as Batman's conflicted love interest. I reviewed some Batman: The Animated Series episodes. "Pretty Poison" has Poison Ivy kissing Batman and somehow enjoying it. The show could've used a possible ongoing love triangle between Poison Ivy and Catwoman for Batman . There should've been episodes where Batman helps Poison Ivy (and vice versa). My own take on "Harley and Iv...

Poison Ivy In "Eternal Youth" Could've Been Given Some Badly-Needed Character Development

Image
Batman: The Animated Series has some overrated characters . One of them is Poison Ivy . Yes, I'm talking about the character whose villainy is similar to Catwoman. Both are anti-villains who have the potential to become anti-heroes. Poison Ivy aims to save the environment but has some radical means. It could've created some interesting dialogue. Why stick only with Catwoman when Poison Ivy was meant to be her plant counterpart?  The episode "Eternal Youth" had some potentia,l BUT it seemed too stuck with some silliness. The episode had some vibes with the Batman 1966 where Poison Ivy has two henchwomen -- sadly these two remain guest henchmen! Both Lily and Violet could've provided her some development! Rewatching the episodes gave me more insights as an adult. Poison Ivy mentions seeking to get evildoers punished. Poison Ivy reluctantly gave Batman the antidote in exchange for the rare rose that could've gone extinct. It could be interesting that Poison Ivy m...

MMPR Reignition's Trying To Reignite The Franchise With Well... More MMPR?!

Image
Seriously, it's NOT the 1990s anymore! It's disappointing how Saban's repurchase in 2011 up to Hasbro's handling -- IS JUST DISAPPOINTING! I may refuse to join a certain group of people. However, my dislike for Power Rangers is due to the MISMANAGEMENT of the franchise. Mismanagement by a GROUP OF PROFESSIONALS! I looked at the news and IS THIS ALL THAT HAS TO BE OFFERED? It's back to Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers for the nth time! Come on, it was already the 30th anniversary of the first season in 2023.  I wrote this post because 2025 is the 50th anniversary of Himitsu Sentai Goranger . It's one thing if Power Rangers does Ranger History Lessons on anniversaries. I may have disliked Power Rangers Operation Overdrive but it had some potential. Sadly, Disney's really bad scheduling (and perhaps budget too) cut the show TOO SHORT by 32 episodes! However, the Corona Aurora plan had potential. I don't think it's a coincidence that Ohsama Sentai King...

Suspension Of Disbelief: Baron Zemo May Have Overlooked One Simple Solution Despite His Massive Intellect

Image
Superhero logic requires a certain degree of suspension of disbelief, right? Baron Zemo's probably still one of the most respected supervillains. However, I'd like to bring up the issue with his hood. There's really some unexplained logic with Adhesive X. How can the hook get stuck on Baron Zemo's HEAD but he could still speak, breathe, or even blink his eyes? It was explained that he's fed INTRAVENOUSLY. However, that hasn't stopped Baron Zemo from entering the hall of Bond Villain Stupidity.  Just reading this explanation actually makes me chuckle at HOW Baron Zemo's superior intellect FAILED him : Suspensions of disbelief: Let’s say for a moment that we believe the americans were so afraid the nazis could win the war with a weapon that is basically Crazy Glue. Let’s push it a little bit further in order to accept that the guy was so afraid to be recognised, he had his hood on all the time, even when he was working all alone, hidden in his private lab.  ...

Doctor Doom: That Irritating, Button Reading Sub-Boss From "Marvel Super Heroes" Fighting Game

Image
People often said that Doctor Doom is harder than Thanos in the game. The same may go for most people who say Juggernaut is harder than Magneto in X-Men: Children of the Atom . Doctor Doom is arguably more popular than his recurring foes -- the Fantastic Four! It's even way too obvious that Supaida-Man based Professor Monster's design on Doctor Doom! Doctor Doom continues to be one of the most terrifying foes -- becoming a popular recurring foe! It's baffling how some fighting game bosses in the 1990s were actually TOUGHER than the final boss! Sagat was harder to deal with than the Dictator in Street Fighter II series. Goro and Kintaro are considerably harder than their bosses Shang Tsung and Shao Kahn. Are these incidents intentional or overlooked glitches? Marvel Super Heroes on the Marvel vs. Capcom: Legacy Collection let me play the game all over again. Yeah, I miss a lot of old games. Doctor Doom may just be a flatline human BUT he's one tough cookie. It gets ev...

The Possible Reason Why Motaro Was Greatly Reduced To Just A Cameo In Mortal Kombat (2011)

Image
I remembered the frustration of fighting Motaro. He's a huge Centaur making him the most irregularly shaped fighter for the game. It was something new to have him as a non-playable character (except for Mortal Kombat Trilogy) and he was probably the hardest character to defeat. He couldn't be harmed by projectiles where they automatically bounce back at the opponent. He was an irregularly shaped fighter so by Armageddon, they turned him into a Minotaur. A lot of his attributes like immunity to throws and projectiles got removed for a reason. I guess they wanted fans the chance to have their revenge on him.  Mortal Kombat (2011) was a 2.5D fighting game, not a 3D fighting game. Motaro could have been integrated as a non-playable character in Arcade Mode. Why I think he wasn't included was because of his shape. The X-Ray moves were meant to hit humanoid characters and a lot of them were impossible to implement on him. They could have made him a special and unique boss ...

Thulsa Doom (No, NOT Movie Thulsa) And Skeletor Connection?

Image
Conan the Cimmerian Shocker or not? Many characters inspire each other. It's no secret that He-Man has been inspired by Conan the Barbarian. Conan the Adventurer may have made that reference in the beginning. Hasbro might have wanted to use the skull-headed Thulsa Doom but opted out for a Thoth-Amon expy in Wrath-Amon. An episode of  The Toys That Made Us reveals that Skeletor was inspired by a real-life corpse . However, it may not be coincidental that Skeletor resembles the Kull villain Thulsa Doom (not Movie Thulsa). He-Man is an obvious retool of He-Man. Why Mattel used a skull-headed villain instead of a snake sorcerer isn't elaborated upon. Skeletor's base of operations is at Snake Mountain. The 2002 reboot retooled it as Serpos' petrified body. King Hiss only had an animated adaptation in the cancelled reboot. He-Man (2002) may have taken notes from Conan the Adventurer 's finale. Serpos was the placeholder for Set the Serpent God and King Hiss was obviously ...
